The stuff about Craig only agreeing to come back after Mendes left the scene is obviously garbage. Mendes never really wanted to come back for SP. The likelihood of him doing a third film was always close to zero.

Is discussing the leaks still forbidden ?

Anyway, we could read that some person A was "furious" with person B, and now no more A and B together...

Tanner: "So, it didn't work out with Dr. Swann?"
Bond: "No. Her pussies didn't like me."

What if she cheats on Bond with Q?

I had a feeling he would do two more, honestly. Once he came back for SF he seemed charged up and ready to go. 2 billion dollars later and here we are. It seems like the break of the last few years made him realize what a dream job Bond truly is and now he wants to go out in style. Of course, Babs and the rest helped convince him of this truth.

I think they'll try to have a quick turnaround, trim down the process for him so the 2 films feel like one and half. Maybe they will cut the run time down to around 120 minutes each instead of 150+. Both SK and SP were too long, IMO. They need to go back to basics and streamline the whole thing, give us two exciting spy thrillers and not the bloated action films we've gotten lately.

@peter absolutely! I'd be ecstatic if he comes back for two. Man what a treat that would be, and a nice surprise!
Hardly a surprise though. It's been rumoured since 2016, on and off (the two picture deal that is).

I still don't believe a word of it. Be at one or two!
I'm ready to be proven wrong though about the one movie, but will not believe in the two movie theory until I have seen the movie on the screen.

Given how exhausted he seems after shooting one of these, I'd also be shocked if he signed on for another two, back-to-back or not.

It just perplexes me what the one picture deal was all about, if Craig is back for 2 films.

I wonder if Craig's peeved he didn't get even a whiff of an Oscar over the years, despite all the efforts at 'reforming' & 'reinventing' Bond.

Adele and Smith (shockingly imho) did, but sadly the crew in front of the camera have been ignored. The closest has been a few BAFTAs (Babs is now VP for Film at BAFTA btw).

Craig was realistic about Oscar chances when that came up in some interview some years ago. I can't imagine he'd ever expect an Oscar nomination for Bond. (Though the Academy has changed quite radically since then, and it's impossible to predict how things will change voting-wise with the new membership now. There have already been several oh-wow nominations and wins recently, stuff one wouldn't have expected even a few years ago, and the membership changes have continued. The indicators that were used in predictions for a long time no longer work the same way.)

I agree Smith's award success was perhaps shocking (just because I hated the song, though, not necessarily otherwise), but it's a category I mostly ignore anyway since I couldn't care less about most stuff nominated any year. Adele's song was a rare exception; I actually like that.

I'd rather B25 not be a remake of OHMSS.

I'd argue that they have been remaking OHMSS since CR, albeit in bits and pieces. In SP we got the new Draco and Tracy, as an example.

The academy is so full of shit. I hate Craig as bond sometimes but I think his performance in CR could be considered Oscar worthy. There is also an amazing production team behind bond films that dont get enough recognition.

True. They can't rip-off OHMSS enough in recent years.

    Let's put this into perspective:
sources on the 'one picture deal' = NYT
sources on the 'Craig Back for Two' - The bloody Sun.
    So there.

Will audiences care about Madeleine/Blofeld in B25 if they come back/if they don't? Definitely more than if you'd asked them the same about Vesper round the time of QOS - the landscape and audience expectations when it comes to continuity have changed.

For better or worse, they started this with Quantum and SPECTRE, and now they have to carry it on as long as Craig is on board regardless of whether you like it or not.

The only thing that makes me wonder is.....
What does Eon do. They copy people.
    Casino and Quantum =bourne
Skyfall= dark knight/avengers style super hero film
    Spectre= mission impossible style film

This makes me think that the next thing they could try would be a back to back film with B25 and B26. Coupled with the fact Craig is old I dont think its completely impossible. Unlikley but maybe??

(Joking) Theory: The Blofeld reveal was so poorly handled because EON was influenced by Star Trek Into Darkness' reveal of Khan. :)

I'm guessing a love drama between Bond and Maddy for the first 90 minutes, then Bond breaks with Maddy and goes on a bender for 2 months

    Please dont give Gustav ideas!
    Fatal car accident.
    Comes out as gay.
Revealed as already married or engaged.
Head injury and resultant coma or amnesia.
    Unstated irreconcilable differences.
Desires an open relationship James can't support.
Her cats can't take living with Bond (or the reverse).
Stricture of inheritance clauses preclude the relationship.
Many reasons Madeleine might not return, all could happen off-screen.
    So we wait.

Now thats something I wouldnt like to happen off screen (I presume we've all seen the important bits of Blue is the Only Colour?)

Infinity war and just the general trend to bang out films quick like with star wars

Sorry, I mean I don't get the narrative or tonal comparison. I think we all recognise EON have been copying trends for years and I understand the above Bourne and TDK comparisons (less so the Avengers - way over my head) and I'm assuming the M:I comparison is dragging staff into the field, but no one has a monopoly on two part stories. Filming back to back pictures is something that's happened for years. Maybe I'm wrong, I just don't see an obvious connection.

Me neither. I was just trying to take a guess at it. I think it's less about back to back filming (the Infinity War films are not being filmed together to my knowledge) but rather more about the announcement of a duo of future connected films.

I have to ask .. why is everyone talking about Madelaine Swan coming back? In almost all the other Bond films he ends up with a girl, who is gone by the next movie without explanation. Why couldn't the happen in the next one?

Precisely, especially after yet another long gap. Did anyone ever question whether Pam Bouvier was coming back in GoldenEye? Had the Craig films NOT ended up being half arsed twined together in a contrived story arc, these conversations about Madelaine wouldn't be happening.

Same here, I believe it's one pic deal because it's the last for Craig and possibly the last for EON.

For better or worse that's precisely it. Personally, I like what they've attempted here and would like, if they are going with Craig for 25, to carry that on/finish it off rather than try pretend the events never happened. I personally feel it would be disingenuous for them to try ignore it all after what they've at least attempted to set up from CR to SP.

Unless another actor is doing B25 in which case - soft reboot.

Actually, eight. He said he hoped Craig would beat Moore's record for number of films.

That definitely won't happen. So wait, this two-picture deal left for Craig, is it merely a rumor or something all but confirmed at this point? Would it shoot back-to-back or no clue?

DC will never do back to backs.
