Shanghai and Rat Speech. Skyfall was a visual delight and Bond fans were so lucky to have the legendary Roger Deakins as DoP for a Bond film.

I have a good reason to do so: I will meet Lynn-Holly Johnson tonight.

Hello, you lucky person! now we all want to know is this at an event, or have you actually bagged a romantic date for two with Bibi Dahl herself!?! You smooth operator!! It must be that 007 fragrance you wear! 😝 Enjoy!! 👍

    Shangai

From the skyline of Shanghai to the artsy silhouetted fight scene, I adore the segment of Skyfall.

    Rats

A very Flemingesque backstory from our big bad.

It was an official event of the James Bond Club Schweiz. She is a very friendly and approachable person. It was nice to see how she really enjoyed to stay with us. And she looks great for 61. The cute smile didn't change at all.

    It was cool indeed.
It seems that this round has clear favourites... This wasn't intended and I have to try harder next week.

I take the rat speech, too. Fascinating and completely different way for a villain's introduction. But I like the helicopter arrival, too. The combination with the music is special in a good way.

Shanghai looks great. However, my vote goes to burning skyfall: I think it is my favourite scene of the whole movie. The shadow/light combination is unique and beautiful to watch (especially when Silva and Bond go to the ice lake).

Shanghai - jaw droppingly filmed by the masterful Roger Deakins. Stil, gives me a thrill whenever I watch it.

Rat Speech - Classic Bond villain entrance.

Burning Skyfall. My favorite ending since Goldeneye. With Shangai i must think to much about the outside of the casino that i not realy like.
Rats. The other one is part of burning SF and whyle i think Silvia crazyness be original and liked the other one, this is a example of villian introduction old style.

Shanghai. The skyscraper sequence alone is one of the best suspense sequences in a Bond film and reminiscent of why the series was a trendsetter early on. Although the casino sequence as a whole is lacking, I love the entrance to it. I recall seeing that in the trailer and it just screaming Bond.

Rat speech. This is not just one of the great Bond villain entrances but one of the great movie villain entrances for me. It reminded me of Martin Scorsese's one-take entrance into the Copacabana club in Goodfellas. It also brings back the great interplay Connery and Moore had with some of their villains.

SF falls apart for me from when Bond arrives back in London through the finale.

Good to see at least one vote for the helicopter entrance. It would deserve a few votes more.

It seems that we are the only ones preferring the light and shadows in Scotland. I absolutely love that part. I even love the unusual bit where Silva is stumbling. It feels realistic.

I must pick the visuals of Shanghai because they are breathtaking. I can still remember being blown away the first time I saw it. However, the Skyfall climax is also amazing with the darkness being juxtaposed by the firelight. It's a perfect optical representation of the situation and I can see why you prefer it @goldenswissroyale. That Deakins guy did an okay job, no?

On a surprise note, I will also choose the Helicopter Arrival. I must confess that I find the rat speech scene to be overrated by the community. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but I find it to be a foreshadowing of Mendes' overindulgent tendencies that really became apparent in SP. It just goes on for far too long, while the Skyfall entrance gets right to the point. And I love the brashness of him playing that music.

Burning Skyfall. The Shanghai visuals never really impressed me - they're great, don't get me wrong, but far from the best looking visuals in the film. I just love the way the burning Skyfall lights up the night.

I'd go with the rats speech - a nicely timed single shot that starts and finishes right at the perfect time and is a nice, albeit on the nose metaphor.

The first match is practically a tie, but I will give it to the Scotland scene. I remember seeing Bond running on the frozen lake in the cinema, and thinking "Wow, is this really Bond? Looking damn good!"

As for the other match, again both are great, but Silva s speech wins. A bit more surreal and well timed as Creasy just said.

    Results of Round 10:
This round has two very clear winners. (This wasn’t intended…)

Visually fascinating SF scenes: Shanghai wins 14 : 4 against burning Skyfall

Silva’s entrances: Rat speech wins even 16 : 2 against the helicopter arrival.

    Round 11: OHMSS

Isn't that the one with Bond on skis and the one where he gets married? Yes, it is… Let's start with "Bond & Tracy" scenes:

    A) Which (romantic) Bond scene do you prefer? We have all the time in the world montage vs. barn scene (including the proposal)

OHMSS is very well known for Piz Gloria and Bond’s escape on skis at night-time. As we fans all know, there are some other exciting (and surprisingly intense) snow scenes:

    B) Which scene do you prefer: avalanche scene vs. bobsleigh action

    from 1.11

    from 2.25

Can we call ties? If so, I can't decide between the montage vs the barn-- both are brilliant as far as I'm concerned. So this is a tie for me.

I'll take the avalanche scene-- but just barely.

    Montage and avalanche
  • Barn and Avalanche for me, but I could go either way on both of them. I will say, the two action scene remind me why I like this rendition of Blofeld. He's smart and uses his surroundings to his advantage. I can't think of too many villains (let alone Bond sometimes) that actually do that.

A tie should be the exception. As you love both scenes, I'll give you points for both.

Barn scene - plenty of that cheeky chappy Lazenby twinkle, and bobsled - a real adrenaline rush from start to finish.
