I have low (probably zero) expectations now for Craig's final outing. Heck. Maybe Babs can persuade Madonna to return for the next Bond song to really put the final nail into the coffin! But what did we expect? EON are far too controlling and risk adverse. Sigh. Right. Gonna binge on Amazon's Jack Ryan and banish Bond from my mind.

This is exactly what I am most concerned about.

Me to. I want Craig back in fifth Bond movie.
  • Marc Forster literally said in an interview he would do another bond. Give him time, give him a good editor, and he will deliver a masterpiece. I don’t see what the other option is. This bart Layton fellow has barely directed any films, I don’t see why he should get it

Did he? Shame QoS doesn't have a better reputation. There's little news that would make me happier right now than to hear Forster is directing B25.
I love SPECTRE being the primary antagonist organization in the Bond series, personally. But, I think it was misconducted completely in this continuity, so I'd also prefer if it sits back and does not get used until the next (soft) reboot when they have figured out the storylines for at least five consecutive films so the organization won't be shoehorned like it was in Spectre but build up nicely to it like the first few films. Same applies to the Blofeld character.

I too would rather B25 not continue from Spectre. I'd also prefer if the next actor's tenure was made up completely of standalone adventures like Brosnan's. There is something exciting about each new film being its own original and completely self-contained adventure, start to finish. (Recurring characters like Wade, Robinson, Zukovsky—fine, no problem, but no storylines revealing that Zukovsky was actually the mastermind behind Trevelyan's whole plot in GoldenEye for instance.)

Then SPECTRE can return for Bond number 008 and play out over a series of largely individualized adventures like in the 60s. Then back to true standalones with the next fella for variety.

I just can't see what they might do with SPECTRE or with Waltz's Blofeld in Bond 25 that would turn things around for me there.

If the next news we hear is that Craig decides to walk, I honestly wouldn't blame him.

Next news is probably that this whole Bond 25 debacle has caused several deaths.

Actually, from what I'm hearing, they're skipping B25 entirely, and going straight into B26.

Ha! That would probably be for the best at this point. ;)

one and half away on vacation and the expected delay in release came with the expected rewrite of a script by P&W.

What better time than a reboot, drop Craig and go with a new fellow.

I'll gladly go on vacation again if that would make it happen.

I'm ready for a new Bond myself, but I would actually like to see Craig get one more in and really go out on the high Brosnan was never awarded. Despite the director/script troubles, I believe everyone has a good sense of what needs to be done to make B25 one for the ages and that they are all determinedly working toward that. I don't want Spectre to be the end of Craig's tenure. I want one more classic Craig Bond to enjoy. One more to bookend the high he started with in Casino Royale.
  • Better to go P&W than to risk a one-off and pee on the legacy.

CR and QoS are the Craig-defining films and deserve to be given that bookend which @Some_Kind_OF_Hero mentions.

David Arnold, Geoffrey Wright, Tanner, and Marc Forster can really make a great combo as each have passionately expressed a desire to return for one more Bond, in separate interviews.

CR and QoS are part of one story and deserve that justice.

I feel the same. Forster returning and a similar performance from Craig as we had in QOS is perhaps too much to hope for.

I'd also hope the critical panning of QOS wouldn't make it impossible as I found some of it undeserved. The criticism for SP seemed to increase once the US reviews came in whereas QOS was savaged before the day of release in the UK...and yet either in spite of the bad reviews or because of them, I found it far better and enjoyable than I'd been led to expect. Contrast that with Skyfall which is indeed a good film but certainly didn't deserve the accolade of best Bond ever and I left the cinema concluding Skyfall was overrated.

Objectively I can see why QOS is the least well received Craig film in some quarters and but subjectively it's the Craig film I enjoy watching the most. So by all means bring Forster back. Roberto Schaefer too as his cinematography is the best work on the franchise other than Deakins.

The only criticism of QOS that I think is worthy is the editing and even that I never had a problem with. As far as I'm concerned, if the film had been about 15 minutes longer it'd be perfect. Use the time to include more scenes with Guy Haines, White, Mathis, and Fields.

I agree with you that QoS has the most rewatchability of all of Craig's films. Despite its flaws and pretensions, it does in fact move like a bullet.

I think Craig’s first 3 mark the best run we’ve had since Connery’s first 3. Not everyone will agree, but I love what they accomplished in those films. SP is hopefully one misstep, and Bond 25 has the chance to be much better.

CR and QoS are the Craig-defining films.

Not sure I can agree with this. I would think a significant portion of the audience would cite CR and/or SF as being his definitive picture/s. QoS isn’t even close in that regard.
