I'm glad Craig is stopping with 5 for several reasons:

    1. It continues the trend of each EON Bond actor having a different total amount of films.

For some reason everyone seems to care about this. I do too!

It’s just kind of cool. Maybe the next actor gets 3? 8 is quite unlikely.

Yes. But both 3 and 8-film tenures seem kind of undesirable to me, being respectively too short and too long.

Depends on how the actor is. I won’t want more than 3 if they are a meh or worse Bond. The only one I’d want 8 from is Connery, and it’s too late.

The trend will most likely break with the next actor. 3 is certainly a possibility. 8, these days, isn't. If the next actor does 3, then trend will certainly break with the next one.

Is this bit of trivia really important to people?

I'd personally like the next chap to be able to do 4 to 5, ideally on a 2 to 3 year cycle between films.

    Or Craig can do 6.

I would like the next actor to be the best Bond yet and to do 6-7 films strictly on a 2-year cycle.

    Even better.
    Or Craig can do 6.
I don't see it happening, although that would be one way to ensure Eon holds onto the rights I suppose. However, with the sort of rests he needs between films these days we're likely to be senior citizens by the time B26 gets released.
  • Unless they end his arc where it's absolutely impossible for him to return, I wouldn't say I'd be surprised if he did a sixth one in 2022 for the 60th anniversary.

What if against all odds Bond 25 is the best Bond ever? I think there’s like a .0001% chance, but it would be so awesome.

The gunbarrel (pre-21st century) made audiences think, for 10 seconds or so, they were about to see the best James Bond film.

i never thought of that actually.. it's only 3 years between 2019 and 2022, and for a big anniversary like #60, i would be surprised if EON, MGM, and whoever else throw the blank check at Craig.. it wouldn't shock me.

    Or Craig can do 6.

I doubt it. He specifically said his goal was to go out on a high note with Bond 25, and if it's well-received he won't want to risk it with a sixth movie. He also seems pretty tired with the role. I only think 6 is possible if he has a two-parter coming up, but I don't think it's all that likely.

I hope not, but agree possible option Bond 27 wil be released in 2027.
The 7th actor anouched in 2026.

Somebody born in 1985 - 1995. Daniel Radcliffe is from 1989.

Or actor from 1994, the year Brosnan whas anouched.

Charlie Heaton as Ian Fleming 007 in New York or as villian

    SentimentalDisloyalBellfrog-mobile.jpg

At that time we possible get the 12th season of MacGyver 2016 series and Eon deside to follow that trend. Team player.

Please no Nolan. Or Tarantino. Maybe Villeneueve.

Tarantino has already come close before but I doubt he'd ever get the chance again.
Not only doubt but he cursed th Bond franchise and I doubt he will ever want to work with Eon. Maybe when Bond enters public domain in the 2050s, then maybe afterwards a 120 year old Tarantino might make a film.

2030s. He will be in his early 70s.

Casino Royale, the novel, won't enter public domain until 2049. That's what I've read.

Mabey there wil possible that it will be MGM / Sony deal as Casino Royale, where Mgm and Sony make and release the movie and also release BD/DVD. Because Sony whant to buy Fox.

    http://www.darkhorizons.com/sony-pictures-now-looking-into-buying-fox/

A whyle a go there be discussion Dreamworks animated movies go back to Paramount / Universal.
But the Boss Baby was stil release from Fox. Also it is fact that both disapointed.

If Sony take over Fox, i hope dreamworks animation too so there can make better BD releases. Of course it wil feel a bit weird to see no Fox logo any more and inspecialy on X-men.

For The Netherlands and Belgium mabey we finaly also can get BD release of The Americans s2 or finaly a Dutch dvd release of Remington Steele.

I'd very much rather Sony and MGM produce Bond 25 than Annapurna.

and filming rights are vastly different than novel rights..... when/if CR the novel enters public domain - some one could take the material and adapt it on their own without ramifications, but they'd have to change character names and probably certain plot elements.. because the EON/MGM's film rights to the James Bond character are locked into place - so there are no dangers for any rival Bond movies to be made ever in the foreseeable future.. the last remaining loose end was the McClory holdings of Blofeld and Spectre - and those obviously now belong to EON.

i tend to agree.. i think they'll use the 60th anniversary to usher in a brand new Bond - similarly to how they ushered in Timothy Dalton for the 25th Anniversary... but... Never say never ;) .... money talks, BS walks

Thank God EON have got their hands on them so we don't have someone out there using them to make an absolute shambles of a film. Oh.

If that's the case, then I doubt anybody will want to adapt the Fleming novels without the James Bond character. There'd be no public interests.

Well, perhaps they'd go down the route of Ben Hecht's screenplay for Casino Royale and replace Bond with characters like Lucky Fortunato, an American gangster and expert poker-player against Le Chiffre. Who knows? But, will someone ever really watch it? I mean, the Bond novels aren't of interest for the stories but the Bond character going through it.

Although, @haserot, I've got a friend who works in the film/TV industry who told me that after the novels enter public domain, the adaptations could easily contain the James Bond character in the stories but on condition the films are never advertised as "James Bond films."

Jesus. Any chance the next Bond has gone through puberty first?

This is why for all the criticism of EON I really hope they don't sell up.

The moment a studio has total control then a series of young Bond films will be inevitable. Kids and teens have deeper pockets when it comes to repeat viewings and shelling out on merchandise and the Craig films do nothing to tap into this market with their dour character arcs.

@ClarkDevlin.. I just think there is too much red tape and legal hoops to jump through that I doubt anyone would even care to try.. what would be the point? - in terms of using the James Bond character in an off brand adaptation or otherwise.. with the way these film rights contracts are drawn up nowadays, i just think in the end it's not even worth it..

@TheWizardOfIce lol... I understand - but you never know, it could've been far worse... and let me say this - the way the organization was presented - the Waltz portrayal of Blofeld, all were just fine.. it's just one little childhood detail that casts a shadow over all of it..

hindsight is 20/20.. but they should've shown restraint in reintroducing the organization and Blofeld.. i mean, this is Bond's chief nemesis organization and villain - and they shot their load faster than virgin getting it on for the first time... something like Spectre and Blofeld should've been a slow burn back.... but, i guess if you count CR, it kind of was - but really, not........

    ..... i need a drink.

No, it is guy in front of reporter, right to the girl. You almoost don't see him. I want to see how much people will think it is was left guy who look like on Macgyver i am talking about.

    This is better picture.

    meWCQ.jpg

You never know, but i see Charlie Heaton as Alec / Sean Bean villian.
What les like about the new MacGyver series that he is les alone. I don't mind there is some team play, but i hope second season he wil be more on his own. So meet more local people, something that Bond need also. I like to see Felix made a comeback, but with limiteds.

After producers/writers making there point with Daniel Craig era, i hope this can be part of that. Something i think producers/writers not thinking enough about/take it with it.
  • @TheWizardOfIce No, SP was not experimental.

Hence I only bolded 'that outrages 99% of Bond fans'.

    Try and keep up.
It's you who needs to try and keep up, son. I didn't write "a Bond film that's EITHER experimental OR outrages 99% of Bond fans". I wrote " an experimental Bond film that outrages 99% of Bond fans".

So he did everything right. Logic isn't a particular strong trait of yours, right?
You are embarassing yourself. Please tell me you were joking! Some reading material for you: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_conjunction

So why do you think Whiz bolded only one part of the sentence? Write down and elaborate.
