Batman is a city in the Turkish Batman Province in Anatolia. It is located close to the Batman River.

"Bin" is Arabic for "son of," which means Batman is the son of Superman. Let's see how they handle that in the comics!

Suparman... I wonder what Jerry Sigfried and Joe Sherman would say about that.

    Why so serious?

I was there, folks, loving every micrometer of film. Perfect achievement. Went so see the film several times. Feels like working out, in fact. I'm always exhausted at the end. I have so much emotion invested.

@DarthDimi -- absolutely correct. I feel the same way by the end. Every scene squeezes out more energy from me, it's almost a relief when BM escapes at the end. I think my first words after my first screening was something like: I don't think I could have taken much more of that...

It was a "Wow!" cinematic experience for me.

TDK is one of those very rare films I've seen on the big screen where I knew from the opening 5 minutes that I was about to witness cinematic brilliance. CR is another example.

Agreed @DaltonCraig007 -- very rare, but when it happens, your heart is pounding from beginning to end. And, yes, CR was that type of film.

I know a lot have complained about the "fourth act" of CR. I just love it. Unlike TDK, where I was exhausted by the end, I didn't want CR to end! So the tragedy of Vesper's death is as tragic today, as it was the first time I saw it. Quite a cruel ending-- I think Mr. Fleming would have approved!

So we are getting a Joker origin movie..... between this and the Bond 25 rumors I don’t know which is worse...

Or he might have complained about her death being folded into a big action scene. Just sayin'....

Quiet drama is what Fleming gave us.
Loud drama is what Cubby gave us.

I can only presume that Fleming would have been satisfied with the more spectacular take of the film serieS. :)

I love the romanticism of the book, but I also love the romanticism of the hero actively trying to save the woman he knows betrayed him!
I think Fleming had a very cinematic vision for his character. The best of this series are the ones that take the creation and truthfully stretch it into cinematic storytelling.
CR is great because it was able to do this!

Perhaps--we'll never know for sure. We do know that Fleming said those who liked the book of Doctor No would be disappointed by the film Dr. No, and in the case of Casino Royale I think he might not have appreciated Vesper's lonely suicide being turned into an action extravaganza, baccarat being thrown out for poker, or wisecracks being added to the torture sequence. But he would have certainly appreciated the box office gross and excellent reviews.

Getting back to Batman, the anniversary of TDK also prompts a reflection on its influence on Bond. Starting with Skyfall Bond stopped trying to imitate the Bourne series and tried to capture the pace and impact of Nolan's Batman films. So to TDK is to be thanked for freeing 007 of bondage to Bourne!

Am I alone here in saying that Nolan's Batman trilogy was near perfection from beginning to end?

No sir, I'm with you all the way. Even the often criticised TDKR is wonderful in my book.

In fact, I was appaled in 2005 by the total lack of interest in BB. It hardly broke even. If that film had been "assessed" by studios they way superhero films are being "assessed" today, there would never have been a TDK. Fortunately for us, the true potential of Nolan's vision was given a second chance. Still, I believe that the first chapter is in no way inferior to its sequels. All three of these films are brilliant.

While I initially loved BB, I actually didn't enjoy TDK as completely (that has since changed- I see its brilliance now), however I find TDKR to be the most fascinating of the three. Much like Last Crusade, BTTF 3 and (dare I say it) Spider-Man 3, it went towards new territory for the third, and succeeded more triumphantly than most others. Nolan is a damn genius IMO.
