I’m in NYC for the weekend & there are pictures of Daniel out and about shopping in the city from today. Wishfully thinking I’ll run in to him on the street. Lol

Why not? I ran into Lisa Bonet, Lenny Kravitz and Mickey Rooney in New York.

I am very curious to see which locations in Norway they have been scouting and which they will eventually go for. There are many spectacular ones to choose from.

There was this article from Dagbladet published in 2017, where they interviewed Per Henry Borch (of Truenorth Norway – applicant of B25). Here he tells that the producers scouted locations in western Norway, and that shooting here was unlikely due to the (then current) incentive scheme and it's application deadline. He also mentioned the possibility of filming a PTS involving a car chase down Trollstigen, and base jumping.

Edit: and accoring to the videos linked by @Pierce2Daniel, Fukunaga visited Trollstigen last summer.

Hm. I also visited Trollstigen last summer! Bond is following me! ;)

It would be a good choice for an action scene. A tight, old style road with plenty of european tourist vans, who in reality are far too big to drive there... They would make a good obstacle for Bond to manoever around (I had to struggle myself in my own car...) ;)

I hope it is not the only location they will use. I would love to see Lofoten, Nerøyfjorden, Geiranger etc... And I have always thought Dalsnibba is a very Bobdian occation (a few miles south of Trollstigen).

It's a surprisingly big amount though – 47m out of a total of 75m. That should go a long way to suggest this is indeed Bond 25. On top of that, it's all over the news here now. From NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation):

    https://www.nrk.no/kultur/james-bond-far-millioner-i-statsstotte-for-a-filme-i-norge-1.14398132

Edit: The statement includes one interesting piece though (translated):
"We're happy that the production of the movie with the preliminary title B25 is considering shooting in Norway. The 47m grant offered the production is the largest in the incentive scheme's history."

Edit 2: In comparison, Mission Impossible: Fallout was offered 6m, and Snømannen (The Snowman) – set in Norway, got 40,5m.

Edit 3: James Bond-magasinet seems to think it's happening (although EON must accept the offer from the Film institute).
Those numbers don´t fail to impress me.

    As do These numbers:

Yep. $5.4m. In contrast, the Mexico tax incentives for SP were $20m.

Come to think of it, I completely forgot about this place I also visited this summer, Hoven Restaurant! It is built on a cliff 1000 meters above the fjord beneath, with a skylift!

What I suggested years ago: A car chase along serpentines, with a motorbike taking shortcuts straight down the slope :-).

I still don't get the hate for that song. Is it the lyrics or the pitch (or what) that annoys some people?

Same. I can see people disliking the lyrics for being too sappy or Smith's falsetto, but the instrumental is beautiful and very Bondian.

But if you don’t enjoy Smith’s performance it’s hard to enjoy the instrumentation.

The instrumentation sounds like a pastiche, it's like a blatant Bond like sound with none of the class. The vocal performance is totally inappropriate for Bond.

Also, the subject is not very strong in the film, it certainly isn't We Have All The Time In The World for feck’s sake!

Maybe if the love story element didn't feel so false it might have worked.

I do hope Bond 25 has a balls out theme with some grit, Arctic Monkeys please.
    This post all the way.

Bruce Dickinson - why has he never done a Bond song. That would have been awesome in the 80s. He could have replaced Madge on DAD and done the fencing scene bit but for real...
Haha, yes, indeed! Well, he still could do both!

And just for the record: I suggested Iron Maiden years ago. They even have a record of working with synths and strings. In then Hands of the Right Producer they would be true Gold!

Also, definitely a date to pencil in for (by that point, probably the second) B25 trailer...expecting the first with Hobbs & Shaw in August.
I'm curious about something. Is it normally the case that studios prioritize films that they are distributing for trailers? I've noticed this with some films, where you will see the trailer premiere attached to another film which is being distributed by the same outfit. If so, I can understand Hobbs and Shaw, but given it's Paramount distributing The Rhythm Section, is it possible that another film could be used to debut the second trailer instead?

It's kinda 50/50. For smaller films same studio is how it's usually timed, sure, but for bigger ones it doesn't matter, they just go for what works time wise, as well as audience demographics and size wise.

For reference, SPECTRE's three trailers came with Furious 7, Mission Impossible Rogue Nation and The Walk respectively. So a bit of both in Sony's approach to the placements.

You know this bothers me is Moore really only going to be remembered as the funny Bond? Seriously? Have we all forgotten the supernatural and creepy elements of Live and Let die the hard edged bond of For your eyes only the tense moment of Octopussy?

Sigh I feel bad for Roger in a strange way he was funny but his bond was also serious deadly and at times Dark.
  • Roger is my favourite Bond. Yeah his Bond films had serious moments but not as serious as Craig and Dalton's Bond. The light heart tone is one of the reasons that I like his films.

Both very nice looking spots, and quite Bondian. They do remind me a bit of the Hoffler Klinik in SP though. It's the modernist architecture in combination with the ice and mountains.

I was never really a fan of this ad precisely because it felt like shoehorning Craig's Bond into a more escapist Roger Moore style adventure. It doesn't quite suit him in my opinion and that's evidenced in the way he performs in the ad itself, at least imho. I'm a big fan of Moore and his films btw, but I think a darker, more suspense driven entry (even a bit more claustrophobic in settings) would be better suited to Craig's next film.

Exactly what I'm hoping for, and with CF, and the things he has thus far said (continuing an arc in CR, but, because of narrative progression, the character has to change), my anticipation for the film is to see this one nestled between CR through to the darker and more strange bits in SF. To make Craig pop, put the character in uncomfortable situations with insurmountable odds.

One thing about Trollstigen that might be a good thing more than a bad one: during the winter season it's closed due to conditions, and doesn't open until around May. If the production get permission to shoot there in the last few weeks before the roads open for the public, they won't have to close the roads for tourists. For the Fallout production, they closed Preikestolen for the public for a week or so.

Daniel Craig be at his best in QOS. When i am think about darker, more suspense i think about QOS (Also claustrophobic) and Roger Moore Bond movies. I like to see Paul Thomas Anderson direct a Bond movie with his production design/art directer team and Cinematographer of The Master. That realy screams TSWLM/Moonraker.

Good thing is that Sandra Phillips returns for Bond 25, this time as art directer. With Layer Cake and QOS she whas assistant art director. She also works on The Two Faces of January as art directer.

I was just thinking how the Craig-era has yet to do the femme-fatale character...we thought we may have had it with Berenice and Monica - but they were both presented as ambiguous mystery women who turned out to be allies.

Usually, the femme-fatale character turns up every now again and typically steals their respective movie. I mean, consider the below:

    ⚫ Fiona Volpe
    ⚫ May Day
    ⚫ Xenia Onatopp
    ⚫ Miranda Frost

We know that there was an attempt in the Spectre script to introduce Charlotte, a rogue-CIA-agent-turned-Spectre-assasin. Though they ended up creating the character of Hinx to sub in for her.

I think in a post-MeToo world, it would be pretty terrific to give Craig a real evil woman to go up against. Plus, it's a winning trope that they haven't exploited in over 15 years.

According to Instagram, Barbara recently went to see Danai Gurira's new play in London. After Black Panther and Infinity War, I could certainly see Danai taking such a role.

She is great but if we are talking about an evil female character my full support goes to Lena headey no one does it better than her. She is ultimate mixture of sexy and evil and a terrific actress at best, tried and tested.

But Heady's done that type of edginess before. Having a more young and vital player to battle against a more weary and older Bond, could create a tense environment.

And as a side note: why do i see Barbara Broccoli in pics like the one above and feel as if I have a serious crush on her?

I would welcome a younger actress. Lena and Lara pulver are my absolute favorite to play evil these days. I am getting quite fond of them and Barbara as well although I don't think she will ever do any cameo in bond films like her brother.
