Ana de Armas should be a Bond girl

I agree. I have been saying this ever since Blade Runner 2049. (Still bummed that Villeneuve is not directing...)

It would not surprise me if Villeneuve did a installment later down the line, Ana would be good for a younger Bond I first saw her in Knock Knock which was not the greatest film though I liked her in it.

I am dying to hear what they will reveal at the press conference in fewer than 77 days. Hopefully a significant percentage of the questions will be about the great Danny Boyle.

I'm willing to bet that this ends up being like the Spectre announcement where they didn't open it up for questions.
They did hold interviews afterwards, though.

I much prefer this format better than the traditional press conference. Have EON/Fukunaga come up, announce everything they want to announce, and then hold individual interviews with the press. Much better than having awful journalism guide the conversation, thereby skipping potential interesting news because of stupid questions.
No, have Boyle come up first, explain what he wanted to do with Bond 25 & why he left, then have Fukunaga and his cast come up.

There is 0% that this would ever happen. I don't think any director who has left would explain in said film's press conference why they left in the first place because that would overshadow the film itself. You wouldn't see Colin Trevorrow, who was fired from Star Wars: Episode 9, appearing at the press conference to explain to the press why he left. Lucasfilm only left this statement when announcing his exit.
“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”

Boyle left very early in the process to be honest I could not care less what happened, I am only interested in the movie that is getting made.

I agree looking back at the skyfall press conference it was pretty awkward cause the press kept asking plot questions that they couldn't answer I loved the new format of the spectre press release where Mendes announced everything they wanted to announce and then they took questions later hopefully this format will continue with the bond 25 press release.

Get a load of this, everyone! This guy thinks 3 and a half months before filming was supposed to start was “very early in the process”. :))

Why not have Boyle just run the whole press conference? In fact, why move forward with B25 at all when Eon could instead invest in a documentary starring Danny Boyle and focused entirely upon his plans for B25 and what went wrong? That's clearly what people really want to hear about.

I've not seen Westworld so can't comment (maybe this is part of the point), but this track sounds rather derivative of a Nirvana track which I can't place the title of? Personally I still think Daniel Pemberton is a wonderful shout - but I can't see it happening during Cary Fukunaga's watch (could see Dan Romer getting the gig though).

    Roll on press conference! :D

*If* the format is similar to SPECTRE's press event, Danny Boyle won't get mentioned. We'll get a title, the principal cast members will come out and that will be it. Barbara Broccoli may say nothing during the event itself (while commenting in interviews granted afterward). Somebody will act as master of ceremonies. I have no idea who it will be this time.

*If* there's the press conference format (last utilized for Skyfall), we'll get a title and principal cast members will be introduced. Some of the more serious minded reporters will try to ask questions (maybe even about Boyle, maybe about why such a long hiatus) and the principals will dodge them. With the 2011 event, somebody tried asking Barbara Broccoli a question. Craig interrupted said, "This will be a Bond with a capital 'B'." Assuming Michael G. Wilson is there, he'll get a question and really dodge it.

Plus, you'll have the less seriously minded members of the press corps asking silly questions.

Does anyone know how Michael G. Wilson's health is? I know he had some heart problems for a while.

@Satorius, it´s an Adaption of Nirvana´s song "Heart-shaped box", hence it´s called the same ;-).
And I agree, it´s not really saying much About the composer´s suitability for Bond.

Hopefully we will get an update about the Bond Swann relationship and the status of Blofeld at this upcoming enveiling. They usually release a little synopsis, so that should divulge something. By next June we will have set photo galore. It's not long now until filming begins.
  • The news cycle moves so quickly these days, that I doubt the ‘Danny Boyle question’ will plague the presser.

We’ll have the title, the new cast, Daniel Craig, the Aston Martin – Eon will spoil the press and anticipate that they’ll get excited for Bond 25 on those merits. I can imagine there will be probably be one journalist who’ll ask Fukunaga if he’s daunted taking over from Boyle – but we’ve seen him in interviews before and he’s soft-spoken and diplomatic.

Also, in many entertainment circles, there seemed to be as much genuine excitement for a Fukunaga helmed Bond film as there was for a Danny Boyle. In some respects, there may have even been more interest.

One question that remains unanswered - Boyle was working from his own script and apparently sets were under construction. Does that cost get added on to whatever Fukunaga creates, or will they do their best to incorporate as much as possible into the finished film? It's seems expensive to just build sets only to then knock them down again.

It’s purely a guess, but I assume that Fukunaga was given all the scripts/treatments by Hodge and P&W and allowed to shape the story himself.

However, I think Eon must have explicitly said we have these three large set-pieces planned for (let’s say purely for example’s sake), London, Namibia and Norway. They have to happen as approval for such sequences takes months to obtain due to councils, authorities and additional approvals needed especially in light of concerns over things like terrorism. There are bigger issues if they are using heritage sights.

I guess CJF was told what he had to incorporate and it’s his job to figure creative ways to incorporate what Eon have. Therefore, the big action opening of the previous draft may get reworked as a second act set-piece. Etc.

I kno w this is the model that Christoper McQuarrie worked with in his M:I films Effectively, your back-engining a story from action sequences - but as long as the story and the action is good - audiences will forgive you.

I'm most interested in the cast and the composer at the moment. I think that will go a long ways towards improving my enthusiasm for this film, which remains tepid. I couldn't care less about another new bespoke Aston personally. Storyline I'm neither here nor there about - execution of that storyline will be key for me.

If I had a major concern about Boyle it had to do with his casting choices in many of his films (although Luca Marinelli in Trust has Bond villain written all over him). I am more confident in Fukunaga on that front, based on what I've seen of his output.
@Pierce2Daniel IMHO McQuarrie paid the price re Fallout with the lack of cohesive story and previous installments were better written.

If there is one area where the next Bond can beat MI all over is having a great, well written story. A classic Bond movie is more than just a series of action set pieces linked together by some "quiet bits."

I actually hope someone asks CJF about Boyle at the presser, just so he can reply "We're here today to talk about a film that we're actually making, and not a film that someone else isn't. Thanks."
