I agree. A month ago I was in London and what a breathtaking city. Even if just used as a location to send Bond off on his mission, show it in it’s best light as the vital, international hub that it is . Enough of the fog and gloom.

I like the gloomy London - very Fleming. Nice contrast with the exotic countries where Bond goes. As we all know, Fleming spent his winters in Jamaica, to get away from London

Yes , gloomy London is atmospheric, and that look has served it well, but does that mean it always has to be shown that way?

Precisely what I was going to say. I’m not averse to a modern, vibrant take on the city - for those of us who live here that’s exactly what it is - but it’s appearance recently has been evocative of Fleming, which I struggle to take issue with too much.

When I was there it was crisp , sunny and cool. I absolutely loved the juxtaposition of the ultra-modern high rises within history London. I’m away it embodies the old dog, new tricks aspect of Craig’s Bond ,
MI did a great job of presenting a non-gloomy London. In the end It’s whatever the story dictates.

London was depicted in a great way in SF, not so much in SP. The latest MI movie is another example of good use of London. If it is featured beyond the normal in the next one as well, it all depends on the camerawork.

As someone who appreciates all that was shown of London in SF and SP, I'm more than happy to keep it to a minimum for B25.

Does anyone know how one gets invited to the Royal premiere? Is there an allotment of seats for the general public as well?

I loved London in Skyfall. I actually want a good bit of London, or England in Bond 25. Not just passing the mission on to Bond. Nope; I want more. Not as much as in Skyfall, of course, but I definitely want England shown in this next Bond film.

The release date of Bond 25 is still Feb. 14th, Valentines Day, right? I'm fine with that.

Is anyone else worried that with Universal distributing - they might give away key plot points in the trailer for Bond 25? They seem to have form with this - the latest Jurassic Park movie for example - and - er - this one...

Also, I've not been following for a few days. Is Bond shooting in Canada now (is this or location shooting)? Great news if so, and long over due! Always liked the idea of Banff or Lake Louise (I proposed there) as locations. The Fairmont Banff springs hotel is basically a villainous lair waiting to happen!

Hi mate - the Canada speculation stems from this interview:

    https://m.bernerzeitung.ch/articles/5bc45dbdab5c3756b7000001

Admittedly it's not much, and I suppose we're all running with it in the absence of anything else. On the other hand, Zurcher isn't just some random punter, so maybe we ought to take him seriously?

I think the Lake Louise or any of the other old CN Chateaux would be a good call - dress them up as a casino, for instance.

Again though, I suppose it really depends on the plot:
-diamond mining feels a bit on the nose, but it gets you to the arctic.
-oil and gas might be a no-brainer, and if you wanted a TWINE-style industrial hellscape, you could certainly go to Fort MacMurray.
-cornering the freshwater supply would be a no-brainer too, but then we just had that in QOS. . .

Awesome, thanks for the update @octofinger - I like the casino idea.

It might also serve as a fly-through location (either doubling for somewhere else or to further a plot point - such as following a character in order to get more leads).

Shouldn't be EON who decide what to give away in the trailer and what not? I honestly have no idea how these things work.

Trailers nowadays do spoil a lot in general, anyway, so I'll try to do my best to avoid Bond 25's. I think I will abandon these boards once the title is revealed to resist the urge to watch it.

I've kind of always wanted to see a diamond mine utilized in a Bond movie in some capacity. It's always oozed "Bond location" for me for some reason. An epic action sequence in a diamond mine would be spectacular.

Although the use of diamonds in Bond films have always sounded very Bondian, the actual films in which that happened have been sub par. DAF and DUD to name the two that pop into my mind like an headache.

Same here. I don't mean extensively, but more than simply one scene in M's office.

Is that for real? Especially the first pic Looks strange. How should it be possible to dig so Deep without water filling the whole?

But for a Bond film? Sure, anytime, as Long as someone gives a scientific sounding, but on Closer look totally insane, Explanation during the film, how they managed to dig in the midst of water like that.

I'll give you CR and QoS as I thought locationwise they did a good job but SF and SP just didn't do it for me. Don't get me wrong, the locations themselves were nice but too little time was spent really getting thorough flavour. Also, outside of briefing purposes I'm not a fan of "London" in Bond films.

On my wish list for the next film is a more vibrant color palette. When I look at Craig’s four films, his first two, CR and QoS, strike me as colorful and rich; his second two , combined, strike me as “grey”; this has an effect on how locations, and they were presented, are perceived.
Now I know that examples can be found that somewhat contradict this, but as a whole it fairly representative.

It has occurred to me, that the story direction, and many of the choices made by Sam Mendes are what ‘created the feeling of “grey” ;)

I love the look of SF but I can't agree more with this. Really feels like two separate eras.

Perhaps we should shift our focus to the Canadian.
From Russia With Love, Ian Fleming, 1957.
Chapter Nine - A Labour of Love

    ...
"Yes, Comrade Colonel." The logic was inescapable. "You will accompany this man to England. There, you will no doubt be questioned. The questioning will be easy. The English do not use harsh methods. You will give such answers as you can without endangering the State. We will supply you with certain answers which we would like to be given.
You will probably be sent to Canada. That is where the English send a certain category of foreign prisoner. You will be rescued and brought back to Moscow." Rosa Klebb peered at the girl. She seemed to be accepting all this without question. "You see, it is a comparatively simple matter. Have you any questions at this stage?"
Chapter Twenty-Three - Out of Greece
It was dark when Bond awoke in the soft cradle of her lap. At once, as if she had been waiting for the moment, Tatiana took his face between her hands and looked down into his eyes and said urgently, "Duschka, how long shall we have this for?"

"For long." Bond's thoughts were still luxurious with sleep.

    "But for how long?"

Bond gazed up into the beautiful, worried eyes. He cleared the sleep out of his mind. It was impossible to see beyond the next three days on the train, beyond their arrival in London. One had to face the fact that this girl was an enemy agent. His feelings would be of no interest to the interrogators from his Service and from the Ministries. Other intelligence services would also want to know what this girl had to tell them about the machine she had worked for. Probably at Dover she would be taken away to `The Cage', that well-sentried private house near Guildford, where she would be put in a comfortable, but oh so well-wired room. And the efficient men in plain clothes would come one by one and sit and talk with her, and the recorder would spin in the room below and the records would be transcribed and sifted for their grains of new fact---and, of course, for the contradictions they would trap her into. Perhaps they would introduce a stool-pigeon---a nice Russian girl who would commiserate with Tatiana over her treatment and suggest ways of escape, of turning double, of getting `harmless' information back to her parents. This might go on for weeks or months. Meanwhile Bond would be tactfully kept away from her, unless the interrogators thought he could extract further secrets by using their feelings for each other.
Then what? The changed name, the offer of a new life in Canada, the thousand pounds a year she would be given from the secret funds? And where would he be when she came out of it all? Perhaps the other side of the world. Or, if he was still in London, how much of her feeling for him would have survived the grinding of the interrogation machine? How much would she hate or despise the English after going through all this? And, for the matter of that, how much would have survived of his own hot flame?
"Duschka," repeated Tatiana impatiently. "How long?"

"As long as possible. It will depend on us. Many people will interfere. We shall be separated. It will not always be like this in a little room. In a few days we shall have to step out into the world. It will not be easy. It would be foolish to tell you anything else."
