Which is what we knew all along given his schedule.
Indeed. They will fall back on the plan that was in place prior to Craig suggesting him, whatever that was.

Of course the challenge now is finding someone in Hollywood who hasn't committed sexual harrassment.
Given the hyper climate out there right now I wonder what the implications are for Bond himself, within the context of the next film. Can we see another Belluci style 'seduction' scene in a Bond film again, or will that be considered something more than it is.

We could be at a sea change moment, although I certainly hope not.

    Bond is married to Swann

    Spectre murder Swann

Bond turns to Mrs Sciarra for help, and to ensure her safety after a similar attempt is made on her life under the CIA's care. Felix injured.

A Bond first split screen PTS of simultaneous attacks.

Bond strips back another layer of Spectre, Spectre have infiltrated the CIA (we have people everywhere). Felix is suddenly in the same position as Bond in not knowing who he can trust?

Turning back to Spectre, what actual evidence was there to hold Blofeld?, his HQ was destroyed with the evidence, his alleged accomplice Max is dead. He was a clever guy who likely covered his track, and got others to do his bidding for him. Furthermore the MI6 building was already rigged up to be demolished, so they could charge him for what exactly?. could he have walked free?

Whether Waltz is lying or not. He does not need to reappear in the film, he could be orchestrating everything or replaced with a new actor following him altering his appearance.

I had mentioned the CIA infiltration scenario previously and think it's a good angle to take. I just hope they bring back Harbour's Beam if they go there.

Problem with that is the end of Quantum when M informs Bond of what has happened to Beam and that his friend Felix had taken over.

And I can't quite remember what happened to him, apart from the fact that he was replaced and passed up for promotion. If that's the case then 11 years later perhaps he has politically manoeuvred himself back into a position where he can do damage, particularly to Felix. I can see it working although it's unlikely they'll go there since they seem to view QoS as a forgotten black sheep.

I expect Bond 25 to be Dark. And very much about political corruption. I think P&W will do what they hinted towards a real world Trump villain. Someone who has risen to power for their own gain. Important for me that if they do go down the above route that the story other than vengeance for Swann is a big, big plot. It is going to need an almighty twist for it to work.

I agree, and particularly if that's the route they take. It would be a shame if it comes across too obvious and I would caution them about attempting anything too overtly political. Tides and moods change, 2+ years is a long way off and Bond films must last forever.

Yeah but evidence presented makes it look like Wee Kim in North Korea did it.

Erm. no. Monica Belluci to ... aliens? Go figure.

Yes but the era when Roger Spottiswoode was considered a good hire was a period of almost unmitigated awesomeness for Bond.

Wow, for once I agree with you.

i would like a return of the "countdown" style ending - the big baddie has his hands on some sort of doomsday weapon, and its a race against the clock to stop it before it annihilates everyone... i know the 9 Eyes thing in SP was supposed to be akin to this - but it just fell flat and lacked any sort of stakes or tension.. Although with the current political climate, I wouldn't doubt if they went the Trump route - or - the YOLT/TND plot - about an outside influence, maybe Spectre, goading the US and NK into Nuclear War.

Me too. Real stakes. Real tension. Bond bloodied and beaten and racing to prevent certain disaster.

Seeing that Bond has retired, maybe his parking meter is about to run out?
  • re: Roger Spottiswoode. Before we dump on him too much, he also directed two well thought of TV films: And the Band Played on (based on the book by Randy Shilts) and Hiroshima.

No, I am not defending Turner & Hootch, et. al.

Also, I thought his commentary track on Tomorrow Never Dies (where he talks to Daniel Petrie Jr., his choice for writer though that's not disclosed) was reasonably honest as this sort of thing goes. At the end, Petrie asks him if he'd want to direct another Bond and Spottiswoode flatly says no. He probably wouldn't have been asked back but he gave a straightforward answer.

i'm not dumping on him - i'm just using his body of work as an example to not discredit the notion that Soderbergh could be hired... Soderbergh has some great titles under his belt - far more than Spottiswoode had at the time (one of those titles won an Oscar for Best Film)... so you can't merely go on previous body of work - while it does factor, you also have to remember it really depends on what direction they want to take Bond 25, and their choice will usually follow suit - ie: EON wanted a more dramatic/personal stakes Bond film for TWINE, so they hired Michael Apted - known more for his dramatic directorial talents than action.

Trump the villain lol. Ahhh I gusss paying taxes and having illegals get free crap off of my paychecks is okay then.. I find it funny how all these closet gay Hollywood people freak out over things like this.

If Monica is back consider this worse than ATAK. Honestly.

"The thing is I don't now about that, but listen, Daniel Craig is a very inspiring actor and I had some contact and the thing is that I'm busy right now doing Dune. But, I will say to have the privilege to work with him it would be a dream. I would love to work with Daniel and a Bond movie for me would be a treat. It's a matter of timing, I guess."

Is Christoph Waltz really not returning, or is it another case of "i'm not blofeld lol" in which he actually was? I think a return of Waltz with a bigger role could justify his poorly-received Blofeld in the last film.

My guess is no Villeneuve. Not sure what that means, but Mackenzie is definitely an option. There were rumours they spoke with him early on, as I recall.

I've only seen Hell Or High Water. Interesting film, but it didn't make me think Bond.
