Bond strips back another layer of Spectre, Spectre have infiltrated the CIA (we have people everywhere). Felix is suddenly in the same position as Bond in not knowing who he can trust?
I had mentioned the CIA infiltration scenario previously and think it's a good angle to take. I just hope they bring back Harbour's Beam if they go there.

Problem with that is the end of Quantum when M informs Bond of what has happened to Beam and that his friend Felix had taken over.
And I can't quite remember what happened to him, apart from the fact that he was replaced and passed up for promotion. If that's the case then 11 years later perhaps he has politically manoeuvred himself back into a position where he can do damage, particularly to Felix. I can see it working although it's unlikely they'll go there since they seem to view QoS as a forgotten black sheep.

I expect Bond 25 to be Dark. And very much about political corruption. I think P&W will do what they hinted towards a real world Trump villain. Someone who has risen to power for their own gain. Important for me that if they do go down the above route that the story other than vengeance for Swann is a big, big plot. It is going to need an almighty twist for it to work.

I don't expect them at all to be brave ( or crazy enough )enough to go there.

I would prefer political satire be it American British or really any county be left out of it especially when it might seem dated a year later as US elections will be in 2020

Again I hate to be the banger of the obvious drum but bond 25 really write itself especially considering the corner they wrote them selves in developing You Only Live Twice and a few key elements of for your eyes only and moonraker and you have the perfect bond film for Craig to end his tenure on

It would be dark full of emotional depth hell it would likely get everyone an Oscar (assuming the academy stop putting their own heads up their asses

I really do want to see a faithful adaptation of You Only Live Twice. Cutting away from Craig falling into the ocean not knowing whether he is alive or not is a perfect ending. It gives the Logan style ending without having Bond actually die. It would also give us an example where Craig is not super human as was a consistent complaint for Spectre.
  • I just don't think the franchise will succeed with another dark and brooding take on bond. After all, this is not how he became a legend. People expect their 007 to be somehow more than all those generic comic or whatever heroes crowding the cinemas these days.

Is Christoph Waltz really not returning, or is it another case of "i'm not blofeld lol" in which he actually was? I think a return of Waltz with a bigger role could justify his poorly-received Blofeld in the last film.

Yes, Waltz is definitely not playing Blofeld again. He said so.

A bit too Bourne Ultimatum for me. And already done in SF PTS.

Craig's Bond stood on the bow of a Japanese trawler on his way to Vladivostok not knowing who he is would be a preferable ending. Although even that is the opening of Bourne Identity but as its pure Fleming I'd give it a pass.

Obviously for this to happen we have to continue the whole Blofeld arc from SP which is hardly desirable but short of remaking OHMSS will we ever have more desirable conditions for adapting YOLT in terms of where we are in the story arc and having a Bond actor that has the grit and chops to do it justice who is at the end of his tenure and has announced its his last film?

I really can’t see Soderbergh doing a Bond film...but there is a caveat to that.

Soderbergh likes having complete autonomy and isn’t fond of producers meddling in his work. So he wouldn’t seem like a good fit. BUT...Logan Lucky a was lesson in what happens when a director thinks he is smarter than the system. It was a good movie, poorly marketed...and Soderbergh himself handled all of the film’s trailers and marketing. Oops. If Soderbergh is looking for redemption, he could find it in Bond 25.

Although with the current political climate, I wouldn't doubt if they went the Trump route - or - the YOLT/TND plot - about an outside influence, maybe Spectre, goading the US and NK into Nuclear War.

They need a proper composer for that.

I agree on all points. Ludlum did Bourne as a riff on Bond, down to the initials. I know the Bourne movies have diverged substantially from the books but really these were Fleming's ideas in the first place.

Does anyone actually like “NightFire”? The video game? I wish they adapted the game into a film. Would rather have that then most of Brosnan’s films..

@CASINOROYALE Not in this thread, my friend. Although, I happen to be the game's biggest fan and I have always wanted a film adaptation. But, for that kind of script/storyline with super Bond extravaganza, you need a Brosnan type Bond. Craig's Bond can't adapt to that well. It's not his kind of material.

Agreed, I love Nightfire but only Pierce could get away with that kind of OTT romp.

David Arnold is fit for an epic return.. if there is any composer right now, for that traditional epic Bond sound that that scene would require, Arnold is the guy I want.

If not Arnold, then I definitely vouch for Michael Giacchino. And with a lot of "James Bond Theme" in the movie.

The new director is likely to bring along their preferred composer. As long as it's someone new, I'll be quite satisfied.

    Did I hear Michael Giacchino?

I've thought since it came out that Nightfire should have been the film that year instead of DAD. Ditch the space finale (or maybe you wouldn't even have to do that, just get rid of the lazers and go all Gravity esque with it), merge Zoe and the Australian chick into one character and you'd have a great Bond film. Every time I play it I appreciate more and more how tightly written it is. Everything is set up and pays off really well and it's full of memorable characters and moments. It's the only Bond game to really feel like a film rather than a video game in how it's written/how it plays out imo.

I don't want to see an adaptation but y'know what would be cool? If they took the Austria stuff and worked it into a film.

I mean, just listen to this track by Giacchino:

It's a lot more focused, dynamic and does a lot better job of paying homage to Barry than just repeating the Bond motif over and over.

Read this, espcally what Soderbergh says about George Miller, and it becomes even clearer that Soderbergh is NOT Bond material.
