It's my opinon too.
Any news on Expendables IV? :-?

Nothing new so far.
Maybe it's not exactly part IV but it's still a part of "the Expendables" franchise.

I wonder now if they'll turn this spin-off into part IV or they'll do both movies.

Crenna was great though I would have loved to see Kirk Douglas in the role.
I agree 100% Rambo (2008) is a really good film and would have made a great conclusion of Rambo’s story.
I was excited about Last Blood; on the surface it was a good story but what ended up on the screen was a generic, cheep looking action film that did no justice to the character. In fact it didn’t even seem like Rambo; too often it was Stallone on screen not John Rambo.

The film opens , at dusk, with a camera slowly flying over a vast plain,, then over an Indian reservation. In the distance we see a campfire surrounded by young members of the tribe. Sitting in front of the fire a lone figure has their attention. The camera approaches him from behind ; it pivots around an, lit by the flickering firelight is Rambo, Sly; he has been living on the reservation following the events of Last Blood
“ Tell the story about the mean sheriff” says a young woman.
“ you’ve heard all of those stories; it’s time for the whole story “ says Rambo
At that point he begins to tell the tale that began when he was a young man ; the camera fades to 1960’s Arizona and we see a young John Rambo…
I saw First Blood on its release and I'm actually good with all the Rambo films including Last Blood. I very much appreciate Stallone made it and made it the way he did.
I think they should have left it at that, could easily have done without the sequels ( though Rambo 4 is the best of the rest, I could still live without it, Last Blood was dire!)
Rambo doesn't suit ageing as well as Rocky did. If you watch First Blood, which is a brilliant film as you say Mathis, and kind of separate in quality from the others, it's kind of clear that Rambo isn't someone who's going to live long enough to get old.
The two 80s sequels are nothing much to do with the first film really, but work as guilty pleasures. In terms of muscley man shooting big gun I prefer Commando as it at least has a sense it knows how silly it is, most Arnies do really.
If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend Rebel Ridge as a sort of twist on First Blood. It feels like it's going to be a retread, but the hero's approach and mindset is not at all the same as Rambo's and the film goes in a different direction, but regardless still feels like a grounded, modern take on it to some extent.
I thoroughly enjoyed Rambo (2008) It was a perfect ending for his story, particularly the ending of his finally arriving home.
One thing that bodes well for this new film is it's director, Jalmari Helander; his film , Sisu, was excellent.
That may sway me to see it! 'Sisu' was great
