I'm inclined to agree with you, aside from the editing it is definitely one of the best chases of the franchise. Pure visceral excitement. And it's beautifully shot too.

I need to give it a rewatch. Due to a weird quirk of box set history, it's one of the few I don't own

I'm inclined to agree. It's very hard to make a car chase fresh and in QoS I think they managed to do just that.

Love the opening shot over the lake as well and Arnold's score.

Dammit, the whole opening is actually excellent. Far better than SF.

Agree the opening shot over the lake is great

I kinda think the SP one did that too. A lot of people dislike that car chase, saying it's "boring" because "nothing happens" but I actually like it for that very reason. It proves that every car chase doesn't have to be fast & furious with explosions, jumps, & machine gun fire everywhere.

Just speed, a beautiful location, a little bit of comedy thrown in (damnit Q, if it was ready for 009 to pick up, why wasn't the ammunition loaded!) and you got an excellent chase IMO.

They totally should of had bond jump over that canal Man With the Golden Gun style complete with barrel role though!

I enjoyed SP. I don't think action is Mendes's strength at all, but I felt SP was a step up from the very lacklustre action in SF.

We're not starting this dramatic garbage again. We've lost so many members lately over such infami ntile rubbish, and no more shall take such a route out of here. I've blocked the exit of the MI6 forums, in what I hope is a convincing enough symbolic gesture to keep everyones' feet well planted.

If we worry about what one person says/thinks about us, and that opinion drives us to leave, we've begun to lose the plot. The spats between members is getting old, and if people aired grievances in a mature and professional manner instead of pointing fingers like a child and whining like one after they got yelled at by the mods or other members, this would be a much more harmonious place to be.

I've never gotten the reason behind fights between members. Honestly, what is the damn point? If it gets to the stage where you just can't get along with another member for whatever reason, just don't quote them in posts and address them only when you have to in forum discussions, in a professional manner. It isn't hard.

I'm actually.......crying at the moment. And it's not because of you. But it's because of the notion that there are people in here who think the forum is better off with someone being absent here permanently.

Please don't call this 'amateurish drama'. It's just a fact in this society. Not everyone blends in perfectly. Sometimes with very sad end results. But that's nature. My presence is 'overpowering' to some, and even unwanted by some. I also know how the board of moderators think of me.....

So it's better to realize that. I'm also tired of myself to be honest. Very very tired. So here you go. Another reason to leave. Don't feel bad about it.

I do not want you to go and other people have said the same, so don't focus on those who are critical. If Daniel Craig took too much notice of his critics, he would have given up before filming even started on Casino Royale.

I find it amazing, that someone like parachute, of all people, would attack GG, being himself one of the overly negative, overly critical, overly "I know it all and better" people.
This attitude is much more annoying then anything GG could produce. GG actually DOES produce something of interest. Nuff said. You stay, buddy.

I too think it would be a big mistake GG for you to leave. A mistake for you, and a mistake for the site. The Bond world is in for a long boring spell with no new film for years. Your leaving will only contribute to the boredom in here, so many posters hope you will stick around.

I'm with @Germanlady on this. Why are people so eager to leave the forums in the middle of an ongoing dispute? There's a gazillion of threads in our archives; lots of places to escape to for comfort if one thread goes nasty. All I'm hearing right now is members threatening to leave because they can't see things eye to eye. @MajorDSmythe and myself have been religiously disagreeing on the first Friday 13th and Freddy vs Jason for years, yet we're the best of buddies here. But we never get personal during those disputes and I'm afraid that's what happens too frequently with some members. I regret to say this but every time we're talking about film and a post starts with "You are just ...", I know some sensitive issues will be played up soon and some melodrama will ensue.

@Suivez_Ce_Parachute and myself have been in disputes too. He prefers dubbed films over the real thing but with subs for those who can't speak English; I'm convinced he's wrong. But we have made those points and that's it. I'm not going to hassle the man out of here or say, "Oh, the problem with you French is that you..." and so forth. I have disagreed with some of @Gustav_Graves's choices for thread topics, yet I strongly value his overall contributions, especially the space thread. And now @haserot feels the need to walk away while in him I have on multiple occasions found someone to fight noble wars against idiocy with. The sad thing is he deleted almost all of his posts meaning a lot of damage was suffered by the forum.

What I'm trying to say is that if people can't debate things unemotionally, perhaps they shouldn't debate things - period. If "not being agreed with" triggers such strong emotional responses, maybe it's not a good idea to get into an argument. Why can't we just take M's good advice and "not make it personal"? The only occasion when to make things personal is when we're fighting off trolls, which we seem to be doing quite well, as a group, in unison, with you lot flagging, and us mods slaughtering.

    So please,

    * if no-one responds to your post or posts in your brand new thread, don't go "Someone?" - "Why doesn't anyone answer?" - "Hellooooo?" all the time. This isn't The Last Man On Earth.

    * if a member disagrees with you and brings arguments to the table you feel you can counter, then by all means do so. But if you CAN'T counter arguments, either gracefully say "we agree to disagree then" or drop the argument. Also, once is enough. No-one likes a broken record.

    * once is enough. No-one likes a broken record.

    * once is enough. No-one likes a broken record.

    * don't let yourself be scared away when you discover you're not on the same page as another member. If you bring bold statements to a debate but you can't handle other members' bold responses, running away is a bit childish.

    * if all else fails, and if you can find them, perhaps you can call... The Mod Team.

Yes I agree. I've been off a couple days ..I didn't know all this was going on. No one mentioned needs to leave and they all would be terribly missed.
  • Please, Gustav, don´t go away, there are much more people who apreciate you.

I don´t like QoS PTS, I hate its messy editing. However, I love SF PTS, it has everything I want in a set piece and it´s very well shot and edited.

Me, too, and that'll never change. Since we're still off topic, that QoS PTS is one of my favorites. Damn, what a thrilling chase scene that is.

@DarthDimi makes another eloquent, well-written post. There's no sense in leaving over a simple dispute. We just need to act like adults and know when it's time to step away from a conversation if we're getting too heated over something silly.

Time to put on my begging pants and try and keep Gustav on the forums.

I never went as low as making biographical research and posting photos from a Rotten Tomatoes critic to "prove" that she didn't like SPECTRE just because she was a ugly feminist...

As he keeps on asking personal info to some here from time to time, it makes you wonder what he would do with it.

Plus, if a film were to fail, and a new lead actor was selected, that doesn't mean the naysayers would automatically like the new selection, plus the fact, the direction of the next film, may be not to everyone's liking anyway.

Note that for quite a time, the 1st Bond movie of any actor is quite successful critically it seems. Taking people out of the confort zone is not always a bad thing to do, and EON has always been very good at taking such risks IMO.

@mcdonnb, unfortunately, but I expect him to return at some point in the near future...hopefully, anyway.

Now, to steer things back on track. @chrisisall, what is SP's box office now? I checked BoxOfficeMojo and it hasn't been updated in two days, so it's still sitting at $792 million. Is it just at $800 million now or is it a bit further past that? I see it ending around $850 million, but if it can gain even more than that, I'd be happy. Will be tough given the fact that 'The Force Awakens' is only a week away.

I would imagine that SP would of reached the $800 mil mark worldwide by this mid-week.

Regarding BO Mojo and other BO sites, the domestic figure gets updated daily, but the international figure only gets updated once a week, i.e Sunday evening, and the actual figures for each individual country are updated usually by Tuesday.

Incidently, the BO update for the domestic market, will only become weekly as well in a few weeks, as SP will drop out of the daily top 10 list.

Regarding SW7, this film is going to gross an insane amount of money in its openings in the US and UK. The pre-sales of the film in the UK have been massive.
Lets just hope the film lives upto expectations.
May the force be with you.

    :)

Never knew that about Box Office Mojo, no wonder it hasn't changed in a little while. I'm an idiot! Learn something new every day.

I've been saying the same about 'The Force Awakens,' it is going to absolutely dominate records and the box office for a long while. I honestly see it besting 'Jurassic World's returns and possibly reaching 'Titanic' or 'Avatar' level B.O. heights.

I've got a lot invested in SW7. Not as a fan, but as a fan of all the fans who are so passionate about it. This year is the year of SW, just like 2012 was our year of Bond, and I love to see my fellow geeks so amped for something this momentous.

Imagine being born at an age when you are old enough to see the first Star Wars back in the 70s, and, decades upon decades later, the same cast of people/characters return again for a new set of movies? No wonder people are going nuts right now. In what has been such a soul-sucking year in many respects, we can always count on SW to bring out some smiles to rope off 2015 in style.

I'll be happy when Ep. 7 absolutely demolishes the BO of any movie ever made, and overtakes Cameron's two films for the top spot. I've long felt those films were overrated, and I think SW is more than deserving of that crown.

But as I've said before, if Disney turn super evil one day soon and use all their Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm money to make a real life Death Star, I hope none of us are around to suffer the absolute destruction. On the other hand, that would be pretty insane to see...
