Not doing anything special myself. I’ll probably put on Scream later and call it good. I have done plenty horror movies and games throughout the month as I do every October.

Hell to the yes. I've already slaughtered 6 pot smoking teens, and the night is still young.

I know exactly what you're talking about, @MajorDSmythe!

    ;-)

I'm currently watching the 2007 Spanish horror flick "El Orfanato" (The Orphanage). Not bad. No cheap scares. Rather, a strong build-up towards an exciting climax.

It's been picked up for an American remake, I understand. No need. The Spanish language is not a contagious disease and there's always the magic of subtitles. :)

Will likely only have time for one horror film tonight, not sure what to settle on. Might have to go with the tried and true classic that is Halloween but I really wanted to shake it up this year and go with something else.

@DarthDimi knows the score. Want to slay the game, you better know the rules.

Ha ha, nice one @barryt007. I started reading the list, and knew it was a wind up, when I got to 'obvious villains of Spectre'. ;)

"Had"? Still going here. I've got Carpenter's THE THING lined up next. Once called "the worst film of all times" by the dumbest critics on Earth, this is a true classic from the man whom they called a "pornographer of violence" but is a true genius instead.

Oh I'm on your side, completely. I think that's a great film. Very Lovecraftian, with a cool score and Alice Cooper as a Space Jesus zombie of sorts. What's there not to love? Mystery, cosmic horror, ... It's a truly fascinating film.

Well, I think several of the elements are there, @barryt007. We find something that offers a portal to another dimension but we'll never fully understand it. Those who try to behold what exists on the other side face madness and death. A scientific explanation is sought but not entirely found because man was never supposed to delve into such great mysteries. It has, presumably, been around for a very long time but we also receive messages from the future so who knows which cosmic superrace is trying to communicate with us--one that has the ability to jump through time perhaps?

The only thing not Lovecraftian about Prince Of Darkness is the multitude of characters including women, some sex, the inclusion of foreign ethnicities in a positive way and the hints of Catholic "mythology". Still, Carpenter has on many occasions made his love for Lovecraft known. The Thing, The Fog, Prince Of Darkness and In The Mouth Of Madness are clearly Lovecraftian endeavours. Yes, even The Thing comes remarkably close to something that Lovecraft could have written, despite it being an adaptation of a story by John W. Campbell Jr.

Commenting here late. Been busy lately, partially because of Halloween. Now I'm on a post Halloween blues.
Maybe it's because I have a young child and a broken TV, but most of my consumption of horror is in literature form, not films. I must have watched five horror movies all in all since last August, and only one or two were good. But I've read a lot of horror stories.
