    R.I.P. Jonathan Demme

Not a fan of Demme's films though he directed an enjoyable Columbo TV movie Murder Under Glass with Louis Jourdan guest starring.

He didn't do much in Hollywood, but Michael Mantenuto, one of the stars of my favorite sports movie 'Miracle,' has passed away:

21 is way too young to die, even for a professional athlete :

    https://usatoday.com/story/sports/cycling/2017/04/29/american-cyclist-young-dies-from-injuries-sustained-in-crash/101068436/

    Tragic, just tragic.

Rest in peace to Sadanoyama, who has died at the age of 79.

He was the sumo wrestler in You Only Live Twice who gave Bond his tickets. He was also a real active Yokozuna at the time (highest rank in sumo), who was incredibly popular in Japan. His scene and cameo were filmed near the height of his popularity and he retired just a year later to become the head coach of a sumo wrestling stable.

Happy to hear he lived a pretty long life, always love his cameo in YOLT. RIP, Sadanoyama.

Damn, I just played him in the character game and I was surprised that he was still alive. I feel like I jinxed it somehow. RIP to one of the greats.

Sad to learn of the passing of Jonathan Demme. Silence Of The Lambs has long been one of my favourite movies. And also of course Philadelphia. Certainly knew how to get great performances from his actors. A sad loss. RIP.

Made two of my favourite 80's films, Something Wild and Married To The Mob. He always had great quirky humour in his films.

Of course he'll always be remembered for Silence Of The Lambs which was another great film. Didn't care for Philadelphia. It always seemed to be almost an apology for Silence.

Israeli actress and singer Daliah Lavi, who played "The Detainer/007" in CR 67 and also appeared in a number of other international movies, mostly in the 60s and 70s (among them LORD JIM, where she was joined by Curt Jürgens and Walter Gotell, and TEN LITTLE INDIANS with Shirley Eaton, to just name the Bond connections), died at her home in North Carolina yesterday at the age of 74 (says Wikipedia) or 76 (says IMDb).

I know I should not have visited the thread :(

    Daliah Lavi

My dad played her records endlessly in the late 70's and I listen to the songs every now and then. I still got all 6 records of her.
In the German language area she was hugely popular when I was a child. When I moved back to Bournemouth with my dad and my brother, my dad still played the records.

I liked her so much. RIP Daliah.

RIP Daliah Lavi. She had some very funny banter with Woody Allen in Casino Royale, great comedic timing. An entertainer as well as a beauty.

Sad to learn of the passing of the stunningly beautiful Daliah Lavi.
As others have said, she was one of the better elements of CR'67.
Pity she didn't have a role in the EON Bond series. RIP

Immediately I think of her as Helga in Some Girls Do, perched up in the tree with the hunting rifle and displaying a mile and a half of leg. Quite an image to burn into ones memory. R.I.P

RIP Daliah Lavi, lovely actress. One of the better aspects in CR'67 as well.

My favourite film of hers is The Whip and the Body, a gothic thriller from horror maestro Mario Bava also starring Christopher Lee.

yes the trio of Silencers, Casino Royale and Some Girls Do, makes her an icon of the decade's camp spyfy genre.
    Loved her in Matt Helm.

Knew the tune certainly, but not its creator. Sad news. 47 is too young.

Those of you who have ever played with a GI Joe can shed a tear now. The creator of the line (and Thundercats), Stanley Weston, died this week, aged 84.

I made Trance records for 15 years due the this mans inspiration. I was in a club in Amsterdam in 1995 when I heard Children for the first time, nobody had heard anything like it, there were people crying. It was like watching the death of rave and the birth of modern Trance. Incredible. RIP Roberto.
