This Magnussen fellow being a "villainous CIA turncoat" and all keeps reminding me of Reade Griffith from Forever and A Day. And quite frankly, he looks the part more than ever.
I really hope this is wrong. Firstly, because it's quite frustrating that these "turncoats" can never be kept a secret but mostly because we've had enough of them. In the Craig-era alone we've had:

    1. Vesper Lynd
    2. Craig Mitchell
    3. Gregg Beam
    4. Guy Haines
    5. Max Denbigh

It would mean Skyfall was only time we've not had a mole or a double agent, and even then, Raoul Silva was a former Mi6 agent. The only way I could forgive the use of this trope once again would be for it drive the plot forward, maybe even occur early on in the film so it's not done in "Oh look he was a villain the whole time!" way. Overall, it just makes MI6 and the CIA look so bloody crap at their job it's ridiculous.

I've hoped for a lot of things, my friend. But, this is probably what they fancy in doing in the current. Nothing any of us can do about it. I'm getting male Charlotte King vibes from this Magnussen casting, to be honest. Doesn't mean I like it, but that's how I see it.

I can see that, although I remember only liking the idea of Charlotte King once she was a villain haha.

I do not believe BM is a new Felix Leiter, would be massively annoyed if he was. Hoping for at least a cameo from Wright as Felix? Even if it was only a day shoot where he is at his desk communicating with Bond or BM's character?

Hoping for some more new official news next week, and a press conference the week after that?!!!!!

Even if they couldn't get him in the story, a cameo would be nice.

Ugh another feminism crap ..... Is this the reason why DC bond was slapped by a woman (Monica bellucci)
    - Men more likely to get paid more.
    - Woman more likely to fall prey to sexual assault.
    - 30,000 women lose their jobs every year due to pregnancy.
    - 70 million girls worldwide are deprived of basic education.
    - 60 million girls are sexual assaulted on their way to school.
    - Other basic concerns.
    - 1/4 of women are victims of domestic violence..

Sure, it's fine to have men physically assaulted because that's how society operates.

    80% of suicides are men.
99.9% of combat deaths are men.
93% of workplace injuries and deaths are men.
The vast majority of the homeless are men.
Men are many more times likely to be the victim of violent crimes than women.
Well over 90% of the prison population are men.
Men die 7-10 years sooner than women.
Men suffer drug addiction and alcoholism far more than women.

Anything else you would like to know?

Good question. It doesn‘t CONFIRM Magnussen is in either (though I think he is).

This: Assuming B25 is a lite-continuation of SP, Felix as Wright is canon. Impossible to replace.

That’s a very strange video. I wonder why I had never seen it before. Bond in drag?

@JamesBondKenya Me neither not till today

It was done for International Women's Day in, I think, 2011. Barbara Broccoli was the producer of the spot.

You’re on James Bond forums. It is logically expected after sometime for a story to be discussed openly rather than treating every single damn plot point like a struck-through CIA document. Otherwise, we can put everything in spoilers when discussing any story in fear of a member having not seen it even though it’s been out there for a while, which wouldn’t make slight bit of a sense. Also keep in mind you’re in a Production Diary thread so everything discussed here is a spoiler unrelated to past publications, so you proceeded at your own risk.

And don’t worry. I’ve seen all three of those a decade ago.

well remember - it was rumored that Mallory was originally intended to be revealed as a traitor in SP (in early versions of the treatment/script), until Fiennes complained about constantly being casted as a villain - that they ended up creating a brand new character (C) and made him the turncoat..

i dont mind there being double agents and moles used in Bond movies all the time, but it's all in how they choose to execute it.. i prefer when the movie lets us the audience know who is the double crosser early on, and then we have to see how Bond is going to figure it out (thats how suspense and drama is created btw).. ie: Professor Dent in DN or Rosie Carver in LALD.... sudden twists are nice, and can be effective too - but they have exploited that plot device a little too much recently that it's become expected.

    2011 press release:
    https://www.facebook.com/notes/annie-lennox/james-bond-supports-international-womens-day/10150433553000055/

    text:

JAMES BOND SUPPORTS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

The two-minute short, specially commissioned for International Women’s Day, sees 007 star Daniel Craig undergo a dramatic makeover as he puts himself, quite literally, in a woman’s shoes.

Directed by acclaimed ‘Nowhere Boy’ director/conceptual artist Sam Taylor-Wood, scripted by Jane Goldman (‘Kick Ass’) and featuring the voice of Dame Judi Dench reprising her role as ‘M’, the film will be screened in cinemas and streamed online in a bid to highlight the levels of inequality that persist between men and women in the UK and worldwide. It is the first film featuring Bond to be directed by a woman.

In the film ‘M’ interrogates Bond with a series of searching questions on gender issues, from pay inequality to domestic violence. ‘M’ asks: “For someone with such a fondness for women, I wonder if you’ve ever considered what it means to be one?” Bond then appears in a blonde wig, a dress and women’s shoes, in a sequence that is both highly emotional and deeply disturbing. As he/she stands silent, Dench continues to read a list of brutal statistics relating to the role of women and their treatment in our society.

Sam Taylor-Wood said: “Bond is challenged by ‘M’ to think about gender inequality, and I hope that the film encourages viewers to do the same. Despite great advances in women’s rights, statistics show that when it comes to the balance of power between the sexes, equality is far from being a global reality. As ‘M’ reminds Bond, facing up to gender issues and the sometimes covert nature of sexism in the 21st century is something that we all have to recognise, confront and challenge.”

The film was commissioned by EQUALS, a coalition of charities and organisations brought together by Annie Lennox to step up the call for equality between men and women. Produced by Barbara Broccoli, the woman behind box-office hits ‘Casino Royale’, ‘Quantum of Solace’ and the forthcoming ‘Bond 23’, and shot by Oscar-nominated cinematographer Seamus McGarvey, the film will be released at midday on Monday 7 March to mark the centenary of International Women’s Day the following day.

EQUALS spokeswoman Esme Peach said: “We are thrilled that Sam Taylor-Wood, Daniel Craig, Dame Judi Dench and such a prestigious production team agreed to create this powerful short film for EQUALS. We feel it is crucial to involve men in the movement for women’s rights and EQUALS is about men and women working together for positive change. So who better to convey that message than the partnership of Bond and ‘M’, two iconic British characters with global appeal and influence – and who better to conceive and direct the film than Sam Taylor-Wood, an artist and film-maker whose work is questioning, often provocative and deeply moving?”

I dunno, perhaps it's well intentioned but it comes over as daft. Using the current Bond actor to promote womens rights - just as daft. Bond (for better or worse) has an unhealthy opinion of women. That's just the type of man he is. Bond- as represented by Craig in this video (hence the M type narration) - is the last person you want promoting womankind! Political correctness at its worst. James Bond - the posterboy for 21st century feminism? Gimme a break.

When Bond visits Mr. White in his log cabin and asks who he is protecting, he just stares and swallows at the mention of "your son". Could Malek or Magnussen be his son?

Bond: You're protecting someone. Your wife?
White: *laughs* She left long ago.
    Bond: Your son?
    White: *stares and swallows*
    Bond: You're daughter?
White: You wont find her. She is clever, she is smarter than me. She knows how to hide.

I would not have thought so but never say never? I always felt robbed that Mr White was not utilised more to be honest.

One could also analyze the "she's clever" line. Perhaps she's clever in that she really is a major player of SPECTRE and she's been playing Bond this whole time. I know it seems done to death, but you never know.
