Yeah I don't think Emma or Dakota are going to be Bond girls, this is definitely a rumour. Although, Sassi di Matera would be a great location. It's like something out of The Spy Who Loved Me.
Yeah, I can't see either of them ever being Bond girls.
But the location is definitely very Bondian.
I'd love to see another Bond in Jamaica!. That would be great!
No, no, noooo! With Norway, Tunesia and Jamaica we already have plenty of locations. NOT TO MENTION that Italy appeared in 3 out of the last 4 Bond films! I don’t want to see Italy again in a Bond film for at least 2 decades!!
"The twenty-fifth film in the series on the world's most famous secret agent could also include Matera as a set. The rumors about the arrival of a new large international production in the city of the Sassi, new European Capital of Culture, are increasingly recurring and are part of a spring of extraordinary liveliness for many crews who will be working among the Sassi starting from the next weeks."
The article also states that they will shoot also outside Matera. One of the places listed is this incredible hotel here...
They also mention a beach location 60 km from Matera.
Actually the article says that the deal is locked since December. We will see. At this point I just pray they're not going to use Matera as a double for Tunisia. Matera is just too unique.
I want to hear JUMP UP! in B25.
At least this confirms that there is no delay. I am just really happy that everything is falling into place and finally there is some positivity in this thread with some concrete and official news coming in weeks it will get much better.
And see Commander Jamaica as a character.
Zzzzzzzzz.......
I wouldn't discount the casting rumour - especially if this source is giving locations, dates and approvals for the filming. That is quite the bold claim and one very easy to refute if it turns out to be erroneous. So there's a good chance this could be true.
Plus....both castings sync up. They're American actresses with international cache who seem like people who Fukunaga would cast/want to work with him.
Emma Stone:
Could she be the MI6 agent that Justin Kroll told us about? She can do a pretty excellent English accent if you've seen The Favourite (that film starred Rachel Weisz and she has been attending the award events with Weisz's husband) you can corroborate this fact. Plus, she recently starred in Fukunaga's Manaic. So they have a relationship already.
Dakota Johnson:
She's really attractive and seems Bond girl material - fits the role of the 'mysterious woman' Kroll mentioned. I'm fairly certain she can't act. I've only seen her in Bad Times at the El Royale and she was wooden but gorgeous. Nonetheless, she is seemingly getting the attention of interesting directors like Drew Goddard, Luca Guadagnino and Babak Anvari. So maybe I'm wrong to question her talent. This photo screams Bond:
Plus, I found this snap online:
I saw Dakota Johnson in Suspiria and I was blown away by her performance.
But the article also suggests Emma Stone and Dakota Johnson as Bond girls. I'm also aware of the comment above that's quite excited about this, but I don't think it's true. Just looking at them as actresses, I don't think at this point in their career, they would choose to be a Bond girl.
Plus, are they really going to limit themselves to two American actresses, when James Bond is known for such international casting? I understand the idea that they are both global successes and have worked with many different auteurs but I just think it's too much. Plus they both look like they're still in their 20's.
Maybe he got drunk again and asked her if she wanted to be in Bond 25.
The issue is I think this is where the rumour stems from. She just recently worked with his wife, so of course people are going to link her to James Bond.
And with Cary.
If EON are being very secretive they could use 'The Favourite' as a cover. No one would think twice about DC being a supportive husband, nor Emma being in London or LA for the BAFTAs and Oscars.
All very unlikely of course.
What do you mean by use 'The Favourite' as a cover?
I meant, that 'The Favourite' is up for pretty much every award, and DC is there with RW, and so is ES, so no one would think anything odd of them being round each other or in the same locations at the same time. They're just supporting the film. But if the ES rumour is true, they could also be prepping for B25 right in front of us.
So congratulations to a small local newspaper for being the first worldwide to come up with such an obvious connection. XD
BTW the first Italian newspaper that talked about Matera was the most read in the whole country, and then after some hours this local one gave more details. But only the local one mentioned Stone and Johnson as “potential” Bond girls.
It's a fair thought, I'm just not sure how much I can believe it. I personally hope that Fukunaga goes for a more unknown and international cast. Having two Americans as the Bond girls kind of limits that. Also, that means Lea Seydoux would then be our only international female cast member? Even The World is Not Enough had Sophie Marceau as the film's villain and Bond girl, alongside Denise Richards.
That girl on the right is definitely Bond girl material!! I say give her a call!
Dakota Johnson on the other hand is definite James Bond material imho, Fifty Shades notwithstanding. I actually recommended her on the Who should be a Bond girl thread a few weeks back. Stunning, and with excellent acting pedigree to boot.
I seriously doubt either will be cast however.
