If Bond had Mr. White in the trunk for two years, not only would the gangrene be quite severe, I'm not sure he would have survived that long. After all, wouldn't he have bled out?

    And what about the stench?

I live about an hour from Siena and it once took me six hours from them to Switzerland. Why did it take Bond two years from Como to Siena? Traffic must have been overwhelming.
  • I think the date on Veaper's cell phone when he gets White's number and the Palio date are about a week apart.

Personally, I would never really thought too hard about it because the movies don't seem to care regardless.

This timeline debate on this forum is really inane to be honest!

It shouldn't even be talked about. The logic of the Bond films warrants no timeline, let alone continuity.

Who"s wants to take a bet that the director and distributor will be announced this week?

It s fine, but it does have a thread of its own, like so much else that gets discussed here.

What I infer from this discussion is that there are some members who don't want a specific (or a narratively inconsistent) time date stamp on anything in B25, assuming it's going to be a direct continuity story (which it probably will be given that's been Craig's modus operandi to date). Perfectly reasonable desire imho.

I'd be more than thrilled if the distributor and director would be announced this week. That way this conversation can seamlessly shift back to B25 speculation.

People should relax. This talk of timeline is relevant. I dont pay attention to continuity in any of the films. Why? Because it doesnt matter, who cares, but these craig films have tied themselves up in so much continuity shit that it does matter now. This conversation was spun out of the idea of Spectre taking place in 2013. How can spectre take place in 2015 if the mi6 building is still there and destroyed? - "but continuity doesnt matttter"- well it does in these bloody films. Its not out fault for questioning stupidity.

What's funny is it's the people who don't seem to care about timelines that are taking issue with those who do care. :))

And that's the last thing I'll say on the subject.

I haven't, @QuantumOrganization , but I also notice you have avoided answering anything about the announcement?...
  • Guys? You all need a good song, to chill out :-). There's no news right now. As Marc-Ange Draco once said: "Basta!" ;-):

Let this topic stay a bit quiet at the moments when it needs to be; when there is no news :-). Thank you. Nothing wrong with that hehe.

They would have taken more care if they wanted people to believe it was all for real. Some apparently do anyway.

You mean Bond wasn't secretly concealing another suit in the Aston so he could change before kidnapping White?

Yes, that explains it. And the car chase lasted two full years.

    :))

With CASINO ROYALE the filmmakers were compelled to ground their official reboot in 2006, different from the previous 20 films, to highlight the start of a new timeline. That's why Craig Bond has the Sony dossier with his birth date, and likely why there are references to 2006 on the CCTV DVDs and other items. They were also energized to follow it directly with QUANTUM OF SOLACE time wise, different than a standalone mission. I'm actually not crazy about twisting and turning to make timelines of missions 1-20, that's not necessary. The Craig Bond films are playing out differently, a sloppy timeline but in the shorter real world time expended not as sloppy as before.
Just observations, here. BOND 25 ahoy.
//As stated above by myself and others. The Greene Planet invitation? A typo. Foreshadowing. //

    More like a screw up.

Again, if Michael G. Wilson had *never* said Quantum took place "literally an hour" after Quantum, it's not an issue. But Wilson and others on the production team kept talking about how special the story was, how it was the first "direct sequel," etc.

Eon *invited* more scrutiny on the continuity issue. MGW couldn't help himself.

    Whatever.

At least the "typo" explanation avoids over-the-top explanations that it took Bond two years to track down Mr. White.

Even with 2006 cell phone technology, Bond could track down White if he had his phone number. That's the whole point for Vesper's sacrifice, ensuring Bond got the phone number.

Even in 2006, street criminals were smart enough to use disposable phones. Mr. White was *at least as smart* as street criminals.* Once Bond had Mr. White's phone number, he had a short time to track him down. He certainly didn't have two years to do so.

I'm sorry, but how is this an issue? It's not a typo or a screw up. When they produce a Bond it takes place in the moment. QoS does directly follow on from CR. If you're watching CR the action takes place in 2006. If you're watching QoS the story is taking place in 2008. You view the narrative through the prism of the film you watch. To have the Greene Planet invite reading 2006 is to make the narrative date specific, which they simply wouldn't do.

You're saying it took Bond two years to find Mr. White when Vesper gave him the means to find him quickly.

No, he's saying CR takes place in 2008 in the context of QoS. Floating timeline. Look it up.

    That's it. Simple.

Rumors about Sam Smith first floated around in August 2014, thus I would not expect true rumors about Bond 25's theme song showing up before August 2018.

Can't be bothered by the whole Bond timeline, to be honest. Analyzing the timeline of the films ruins the viewing experience, as there will be some inconsistencies. I just think of each film to be somewhat recent to the production/release year, and leave it at that.

    Refreshing edited. Ditto.

Good job @QuantumOrganization is here to moderate on your behalf. Without his noble efforts to fabricate news this forum would crumble under the weight of rationale discussion.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Jany Temime was costume designer on the EON produced Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool. If Broccoli wanted her then, I think it's safe to assume she'll use her again for B25.
  • I hope for Bond 25, that DC's gunbarrel sequence features a traditional theme (like SP), and Craig ditching the business suit for a black tuxedo and bow tie.

Would be the perfect way to play out his final film.
