Why not, right? He's demonstrating he still has the action chops with that trailer for 'The Foreigner.' Just for consistency's sake, get a new actor in for B25 and let Campbell shoot his third new era-introduction in a row.

    94 tickets, please.

I think McGuigan is a lock if the rumours from a credible source here is true, if @ColonelSun has heard I think it's a good chance it's happening and @RC7 who also is in the industry rarely seems wrong.

McGuigan is definitely not someone that comes to mind when debating a new director, but I did say I'll gladly take any choice that isn't Mendes, so I wouldn't complain if it panned out that way.

The only difference is I want him to close of Daniel's run. We've seen him start off 2 Bonds. I'd like to see Campbell close off one he started.

Perhaps. But imagine if Campbell does a Bond vs Blofeld final round film. We could have a GoldenEye 2.0 on our hands. :D

How about we deal on a Campbell and Arnold return to finish off the Craig era and then Nolan to introduce the new Bond?

Think the majority of us would be happy enough with that.

Martin Campbell is my favorite Bond director since the 1990s.

I think Zimmer would do a brilliant Bond score. I asked him about it when I met him and he said 'it wouldn't sound like me'. (I've mentioned this before). I do think it depends on the director. His relationship with Nolan is a once in a generation partnership.

Steven soderbergh is still my bet for Bond25

    Not a chance.

    Very good chance actually

Steven Soderberg is a terrific director (I've worked with him myself and hugely like and respect him), but he's a maverick - he wants to experiment and do it his way or the highway - which includes lighting the film as well. He would have to be let off the leash to do a Bond film, even more so than Mendes, who is a more conventional and traditional filmmaker/storyteller. So don't bet on Soderbergh being approached by Eon. From what I hear from close associates, and big clues already dropped by Eon, the Bond 25 director is already locked - no doubt to be announced soon.

Slap me hard in the face if this was discussed already, but... does anyone have any idea what those big clues might have been? Something to do with the recent Omega event?

Anyone can do a slow atmospheric piece. Even Newman excelled at that. It's Zimmer's action music that gives me bad feelings.

...EON will soon announce that Craig is back, and the director of Bond 25 is Paul McGuigan. I believe this is exactly what's going to happen.

I can't comment on the director rumours as I haven't heard anything myself, personally. What I have heard and have been saying for months is that Craig is returning. I can also guarantee that development has been ongoing for some time, again, as I've previously stated. I'm aware of a writer who was contacted last year about scripting duties. Things often change, but nothing I've heard so far has made me think anything other than a Craig return. @ColonelSun is an industry vet so if he's also hearing similar murmurs through his channels I wouldn't bet against it. Things have been slow, but the intel (not clickbait) has largely been consistent thus far.

Even if any of this was accurate, there's a big difference between what EON intends and what actually comes to pass. If you were working in the business circa 90/91 doubtless you would have been telling us "Yeah, don't worry guys, the murmurs are that Cubby and Dalton fully intend to move ahead with Bond 17, expect an announcement at the end of the year."

Actually, it's more than a year later. Purity was announced June 1, 2016.

Purity was announced with a director attached (Todd Field) and two writers (Field and Jonathan Franzen). Of course, things can change.

That's an overt generalization designed to convince people that Aiden Turner would be a good Bond :)
