@dominicgreene, agreed. DAD may have a lot of lazy moments and bad decisions, but I get a lot more entertainment out of it than I do SP.

Back on topic for me, as well...whatever "on topic" means for this thread, anyway.

I too personally prefer DAD to SP, as an entertainment experience.

Now back on topic for me too.

The latest issue of not knowing who to copy comes with Spectre who is stealing from Marvel whole heartidlyand this is an issue because had they instead look to Taken or hell even the Bourne legacy we would of gotten a much better and more interesting situation

Can you elaborate on that for the sake of clarity?

Seriously your asking me??? Ok I thought someone as well verse in marvel films would of seen this a mile away but ok..

the entire plots is stolen from Captain America The Winter soldier so much so I am surpised Disney didn't sue Sony to be bluntly honest.

Spectre: an orgnization thought to be long dead (Quantum) has a new name and is still very much active (Spectre)

Captain America Winter Soldier: an ornlgnization long thought to be dead (hydra) is still very much active and has a new name (shield)

Both films have the protagonist meeting with a secondary villian from a previous film for information about the organization (mr white in Spectre and I can't remember his name the character with a giant tv in his chest in the comics)

Both films have the protagonist abandoned by the head of the orgnization they work for and rely on friends from said orgnization to join him (black widow and Falcon in Winter soldier Moneypenny and Q in Spectre heck in both films one is black and the other is white)

Both films have a high up mole that was part of the sinister orgnization

Both films have a lost brother angle

I could go on but what is the point Spectre stole from Winter Soldier hook line and sinker

@Risico007, that's only true if you honestly believe 'The Winter Soldier' was the first film to come up with such "ground-breaking" ideas as a higher-up traitor or a sinister organization.

It's not all that different from TDK to SF & Bourne to QoS to be honest. Even the
'is it all only about revenge for the lost girlfriend?' angle was used in QoS, all the way down to the 'don't kill the perpetrators, but rather, forgive them' element with the kind female boss at the helm.

Only CR had some originality and that was primarily the Fleming elements. The drowning bit was similar to the previous year's Supremacy, although the goodbye kiss/hug took place underwater in the prior film.

I find all of this to be very nit
picky. Dont think sp or sf is too similar to winter soldier or tdk

re: SPECTRE vs. Captain America: Winter Soldier.

The Bond writers didn't have much time to steal from Cap. Timeline:

--MGM announces John Logan will write Bond 24 and Bond 25 in November 2012.

--Logan finishes some kind of treatment (it wasn't a full script) around mid-2013, press release about Bond 24 goes out in July 2013.

--Logan is forced to file first draft March 2014.

--Captain America: The Winter Soldier is released in May 2014.

--Purvis & Wade summoned to rewrite Logan in summer 2014. Start of Bond 24 production pushed back to December 2014 from October 2014.
  • Of course, having just said all that, the SPECTRE vs. Cap angle was part of the Honest Trailers parody.

The only problem with SP I had was Newman's lazy rehashed score. The rest of the movie was Great! GREAT!

Rumor over on CMB is that purvis and Wade will be back and that Michael is retiring and Gregg will co-produce with Babs

My guess is based on both rumors (CMB and Reddit) is that

Bond 25 is being written and likely by Purvis Wade and Knight ( though eon could be going through a few writers to find a story they like) and the era of Michael G Wilson co producing may sadly be over which is bigger then wether Craig will come back. I noticed Gregg being more hands on with Spectre and I am curious to see what direction he will take with his Aunt. Personally while many will complain about the Activision games which had Gregg's finger prints on them honestly Bloodstone and a Goldeneye weren't that bad...

My guess is the script is being written with a generic bond in mind (so Craig or Fassbender or Hardy can walk in and do the film Justice)

    And that is about it

Craig's involvement in 'Kings' is worrying. He is seemingly attaching himself to a number of projects, typically he wouldn't be able to do this if he was under contract. If he returns clearly he would have to negotiate Bond 25 as a solo project. All those reports of a 'five film deal' were wrong, or at the very least misleading.

So.....if Craig starts filming 'Logan Lucky' (which he is apparently the co-lead of) it will likely finish by October/November time. Soderburgh is notorious for his quick shoots. Then he does 'Othello' in New York before spending the whole of 2017 making 'Purity'. Considering 'Kings' is a small indie movie, he could squeeze it in sometime in 2017 before filming Bond in 2018. But that would mean he would made 5 projects back-to-back.

I can't see Craig doing this. He likes his downtime. In the last 5 years he's made 2 films (both Bond pictures)......is the 'Kings' casting the final nail?

In other news, I'm finding Tom Hiddleston insufferable. I don't know if he's canvassing for the Bond role (or if that's even possible). But he's EVERYWHERE at the moment! This particular picture of his new found 'romance' with Taylor Swift makes me barf. This relationship seems like something cooked up by a PR machine.

    35C85C8A00000578-3666399-What_a_gent_James_Bond_hopeful_Tom_was_seen_planting_a_tender_ki-a-192_1467227054554.jpg

    So fake.

I always got the impression that Hiddleston was gay. I don't mean that in a disparaging way. I'd welcome a gay actor playing Bond. But all the media attention he's getting at the moment makes me very suspect. Especially when I see shots of him in his tighty-whities in W Magazine with the headline 'Meet Taylor Swift's New Boyfriend'. It seems painfully contrived.

    nintchdbpict0002461536121.jpg?w=640

Is Hiddleston desperate to make himself a film-star? He always struck me as a talented thesp interested in the work, not a media whore....

    According to this report:
    https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1363954/tom-hiddleston-is-bulking-up-on-a-special-high-protein-diet-to-bag-the-role-as-the-next-james-bond/

EON have narrowed the casting down to Tom (Hiddleston and Hardy).

Apparently Hardy was the favourite till Hiddles hit the gym...bullshit

Hardy as bond would be ok...

Look I have my top 5 and I have made no secret they are

    1. Daniel Craig back for one more
    2. Michael Fassbender for 4-5 films
    3. Tom Hardy for 4-5 films
    4. Tom Hiddleston for 4-5 films
    5. Cillian Murphy for 4-5 films

(Cillian has grown on me a lot honestly) if Hardy is the next bond I will be happy Hiddleston slightly disappointed but not upset if it's Turner I am going out for a night of drinking and dbeauchery to drown my sorrows.

What's the point of complaining about Hiddleston being "everywhere" and then making sure that includes this forum? I don't know what "everywhere" means in this context, I presume tabloids and celebrity gossip mags/sites and the like (I don't read them, but just guessing). And Bond forums, of course, apparently. If I wasn't reading a couple of threads here I wouldn't have seen these pics, nor would I be aware of Hiddleston being, presumably, everywhere. If I cared about his private life I would search for that info, but why is any of it needed here?

If Hiddleston is thought to be the next Bond. I'd expect every magazine and paper to
have photos and stories about him.

Kings starts in August in Atlanta, then Logan then Othello (in December) then Purity.
IF he absolutely wanted to, he could do Bond in fall next year. I hope not.

The thing to honestly ask is what actor really can get us off the path of formula over plot that skyfall and Spectre brought us on and put us back on the story over formula we go with Craig's first two films?

And I am including Craig in here... As much as I like Hiddleston I fear he will bring us further down the formula path where as Hardy might shake things up.

Also since many fan trailers have Hardy as a villain going up against Craig's bond I wonder how the fan artist community souring react...

Why not? Obviously he'd need to have some information which months he can book for other things, and why wouldn't he have that information - for instance to know he'll have this year and till late next year for whatever he likes. Actors normally do other projects if they have, say, 3 years between big franchise movies they're contracted to. Whether he would do several other things in that time or not I don't know, but there is no reason he couldn't, since other actors can.

I'd much rather break this glass and slash my wrists, frankly.

EDIT: Here's what they're saying over at CBN:

    Posted yesterday by "Stromberg":

I received the information confidential, so I can't say much. The guy who told me is trustworthy, but I don't really know about his source.

What I heard is (among other things) that, regarding the script, there'll be no surprises, no experiments and certainly no writers "du jour". Hope you catch my drift (it's as easy as 1 + 1).

An interesting part of the information may or may not make the news (maybe trade papers only). If this happens, I'll take it as a confirmation for the rest of the story (but going to keep in mind that during the production process anything can happen)...

All I can tell about it.

EDIT 2: Apparently it's got nothing to do with B25.

Actually I don't get the hate for them

Twine was brilliant die another day was not their fault Casino Royale was good Quantum was good Skyfall was ok and they did what they could to save spectre

That was David Wilson I thought.

And honestly CMB doesn't know anymore than we do.

Which is nothing. Knight might be credible but P&W already in interviews have expressed interest to not return.

But if they do just like before (not counting Logan) at least a credible actual writer is working with them.

It honestly seems like Craig is attempting to kickstart his post-Bond career. Such a busy schedule would help to demonstrate his range and escape type-casting. His return is becoming less and less likely.

Because they're cheap that's why. Purvis and Wade are a bunch of keenly priced puppets; complete with comfort zone and safety nets. Real talent sold separately.
EoN seem to be pennywise and pound foolish when it comes to the basics of the creative talent that serve as a foundation to ensure the film is of great quality in principle. Just look at CR; that's how you bloody do it. No superstar director, no stunt casting. Just competent actors and a director who know what they're doing and working from a great script.

There are better writers than Fleming out there today. If the excuse that certain Bond films are and can only be good because it drew from a whole Fleming novel then things are a lot worse than they appear and Bond would be in desperate need of new producers who are willing to do the basics and find a decent writer at least; instead of spending tens of millions crashing super cars that offer little to nothing and some tedious world record explosion that no one gives zero fucks about.
