I prefer Hiddleston to Turner, and I am not the biggest fan of Hiddleston. Anyway, if Craig won't return, announcing the new actor before announcing the director would be a mistake, I believe. Back in 2006, they announced Campbell 8 months before announcing Craig. Find a director first, and only after that start looking for an actor!

Here's a bit of click bait to satisfy the Craig lovers. I don't necessarily agree, but their rationale cannot be faulted.

    Good analysis by the article.
You don't agree but their rationale can't be faulted. Not sure what you are saying.
Let me clarify. Their rationale is sound & consistent. That doesn't make their conclusion correct however. It's one possible scenario. There are several other valid ones too, also based on sound rationale.

We can draw infererences based on various factors at our disposal but at the end of the day, as I've said for some time, this is all just speculation because nobody has all the facts. Him staying is speculation. Him leaving is speculation as well. Nobody knows anything and everything is up in the air. It's an exciting time to be a Bond fan, and I look forward to EON giving us some sliver of news this year (not necessarily this week) that will reward our continued loyalty & faith in the franchise.

Craig doing another would be pretty low on my list of desirable options at this point. Once they're in it solely for the money (Connery, Moore, and already Craig) it shows and the result is a half-assed performance.

Craig meant that money comment (if he actually even made it, since it circulated in printed media) about as much as he did the wrist-slashing remark.

Both the wrist-slashing and money comments were in the same interview (Time Out London). Note: you'll have to scroll quite a ways down to find both. The wrist slashing remark got played up by other outlets summarizing this interview.

This whole thread is so idiotic. Are there that many 12 year old members on here? Really? Craig is Bond. Fact. He has a 5 film contract with one left. Fact. NONE of the rumors floating around the internet have ANYTHING to do with the reality of the EON produced James Bond film series. NOTHING. It's all just tabloid speculation and Vegas bookie nonsense to drum up clicks on their sites. What don't you morons get about it? "An announcement next week about the next actor is coming!"

WTF is wrong with your people? It's madness.

You've made your point, twice now. If you despise this thread so much, I urge to press that little red button on the top right corner of your computer screen. It's an Internet forum, nobody is forcing you to come here.

As for the rest of the constant people expressing their displeasement with this thread, why the hell are you surprised? This happens with every single Bond production. When there's nothing to talk about; no news to drive us toward a discussion, things can get out of hand in terms of speculation. Like I said, this is a damn Internet forum. Instead of babbling on about how much you hate this thread, site back, relax, have a beer, and watch the events unfold as they happen. As always, thank you for your two cents.

Yes, yes, and yes... for anyone to take what a bookie say as fact... it IS madness... Reaper is correct. There ARE some facts that are as plain as day.

Everything beyond that is wishful thinking.

Re a casting announcement next week...

Pierce Brosnan was announced as the fifth James Bond on June 4th 1994. Goldeneye started filming 16th January 1995.

Daniel Craig was announced as the sixth James Bond three months before filming started on Casino Royale - announced 14th October 2005, CR began filming 3rd January 2006 - on so it's very doubtful/unlikely the next James Bond will be announced this month. Spring or summer 2017 would seem more likely.

Delaying until spring/summer of next year allows EON enough time to check out all candidates - some new actors may be leaving drama schools and getting roles. This could mean some new candidates worth considering. Announcing the new actor this month could mean losing out on new talent.

    Times change and scenarios change.

These days, prospect's schedules are being filled faster and faster. Disney in particular is grabbing everyone English with a pulse who knows how to act, and successful tv shows are grabbing the rest.

A solid actor locked down could even influence the amount of a studio bid, I would think. I'm pretty sure preliminary discussions on potential actors have been had with studio heads.

So I wouldn't be surprised if casting choices are made sooner than in the past. Whether they are announced is another matter.

Pardon my ignorance, but if Craig is contracted for Bond 25, why can't EON just confirm Craig will do the next one? Because having the media and social media running wild on who the next Bond will be is hurting Craig, as the longer they wait to confirm him, the more his comeback will seem anti-climatic after months and months of speculation on his successor.

Every time Roger Moore returned despite all the rumours about other candidates, the media presented it as good news.

That's good to know then. I guess the media switches sides so easily, it will work just fine.

If Bell continues to be mentioned as a potential Bond, I'm sure the Roger scenario will repeat if Craig is indeed back. A potential disaster averted.

Yes, in between they all wanted Connery back.

I feel Eon lets the media run wild because it's all free press and keeps the James Bond name in the media. With no new film or video game or even novel (seriously all we have is a comic book really!!!!!)

    Just my thoughts

We're anxious fans. And from an interview of MGW Craig has an option for a 5th.

It's certainly getting loads of media publicity and in a way very flattering that so
Many are interested in who will be 007.

Like I said I don't know what EON and IFP can do independent of MGM but whatever they can do they should.

I would love if within the next year (assuming it takes a year between now and when MGM to get a distributer for the following things to happen)

Ubisoft get the rights to do video games based on 007 and do the first one with Fiennes as M and Craig as 007 calling it Colonel sun and basing it off the novel (which means IFP can re release the book)

Eon brings the following people on as consultants (similar to Mendes in 2010) Pierre Morrel and writers Chris Mcquarrie (if he can write Star Wars and Mission impossible surely he can do a treatment for 007) Jez Butterworth and David Farr (writer of the night manager mini series)

IFP announce a new bond novel either by Horrowitz again (I will get around to reading trigger Morris I promise) or better yet Daniel Silva (announcing it will be set in the modern world and a sequel of sorts to Carte Blanche meaning that they can re release that novel as well)

And there you go with all of that we will have plenty to discuss while MGM tries to figure out.

Colonel Sun was re-released in October last year to coincide with the release of Spectre since the film borrowed aspects from it. They won't do it anytime soon.

I was originally planning to do so but I decided to wait for the TPB. I just don't think I can enjoy reading Bond bit by bit. I want the whole thing and for that I'm willing to wait.

The first volume will be out on the 15th of the month. So, hope you'll enjoy it.

There's a lot of uncertainty about the future of Bond. 1. We have no idea WHEN Bond 25 will be released 2. We don't know who will distribute. 3. We don't if a script is being written or by whom. 4. We don't know who will direct. 5. We don't know if Craig will return. 6. We don't know if EON have even sat down with Craig to discuss Bond 25. 6 We don't know if any other actor has been screen tested. All we know has come from tabloids. We have no official comment or statement from anyone connected with EON. I'm beginning to suspect we will have 12 months + of rumour, speculation and total bs until EON have properly sat down with Craig and found a director, writer and distributor. That is likely to be months away. All we know is that Bond Will Return. Someday.

Unfortunately for us, @SonofSean is bang on the money. The above is all we know, apart from DC has an option on a fifth film.

The reality of the film biz would suggest we need a distributor to hash out with BB if they even want DC back (I'd guess, just a guess, that if they did, it would strongly be based on locking him in for two films (so they could make bank on his last couple before engaging on the marathon of finding a new Bond); then they'd hafta sit down with DC to get his temperature. Which means they'd dangle another producing credit, and a script and/or scripts/outline/outlines that would challenge him as an actor and takes him into territory he feels he hasn't done yet.

If he declines, then the distributor and BB will be forced on the marathon search, whilst developing story ideas for a new Bond, and a new director....

Saying all of this is pointless since we're not even at step one: the distributor....

    Ouch.
