I had it at 9th spot, so not far off the end result.
Starting to get down to the best of the best now.

I'm one of two who ranked it at 24th, so who's the other? It's sharp looking but this was the start of the turn in Kleinman's work where I'm absolutely not interested in what he's going for. If I had ranked these alongside the songs, it would've been way higher because Adele's track is one of the finest of the era, but as the sequence stands alone, it's one of my least favorite.

That was me @Creasy47! And for the reasons stated. Too dark, too gloomy, and too much of the story depicted, when all we really want are guns/gals 🤣 I also think Craig looks rather awkward and uncomfortable in his appearance here unlike his cool depiction in CR/QOS.
Unlike you @Creasy47, I never liked the song either!

I had it at 10. It would have been quite a bit higher but for the moment when it shows a grave with Bond's name on it. The labeling is incredibly corny and literal, like a bad political cartoon.

100%! I was very curious to see who the other one was. I couldn't agree more.

I am trying to understand why SP got kicked out so fast and SF stayed in so long, while IMO they are essentially the same. 😉

I agree, but SP is a bit uglier. And contains the awkward naked Craig.

The first time I saw it, I thought it could have been a realistic title sequence to Octopussy, there are a lot of tentacles and octopus. 😂
But I'm afraid All Time High would not fit.

I wondered the same thing. They were both firmly at the near bottom for me, only "bested" by NSNA.

SF and SP aren't the same at all. SF titles have a great mixture of elements while SP is mainly tentacles doing strange stuff (sex with a woman?), doing cool stuff (move around a gun) or telling us that Oberhaus is Blofeld...and the naked Craig is is indeed awkward.

I liked SF, SF over SP any day of the week, It's beautifully shot and I also liked the transition, and very imaginative and creative.

Tbh, I really cringe at this scene.

The little moment is turning into a fascinating Rorschach test. ;-)

I too prefer SF over SP, but I think they are both fine, yet not among the very best.

Almost time for the top 5, but first our number 6:

    ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE
    Main title sequence designed by
    MAURICE BINDER

    ohmss_c.jpg?k=89d76f1b6a

Binder’s trip down Bond memory lane strands just outside the top 5, collecting one bronze medal in the process.

OHMSS also acquired one 4th, one 5th, one 6th, one 7th, two 8th and one 10th place.

Only one member ranked it outside the top 20, giving OHMSS a lowest ranking of 23rd.

In total OHMSS’s main title sequence obtained 102 points.

    Which leaves us with:

    - Goldfinger (Brownjohn)
    - Thunderball (Binder)
    - The Spy Who Loved Me (Binder)
    - GoldenEye (Kleinman)
    - Casino Royale (Kleinman)

Interesting stat: OHMSS ended in 6th place and it was also the 6th Bond film to be released.

GF and/or TB could end up in the same boat, but so far OHMSS is the only one.

    That's interesting!
It's also in my top 10.
But yes, those scenes from the Connery Era projecting through an hourglass wasn't well edited.

If I had played, my top four would still be among those left. Oddly, being my favorite film, GF is not in my top five.

The bests here for me were TSWLM, Goldfinger, and Goldeneye.

Not a fan of CR's title sequence, it's very animated and feels like a video game, especially the scene where the "James Bond-007 status confirmed" word was typed at the end, it's computerized.

Thunderball was just full of underwater and silhouettes, it's repetitive just changing colors, no transitions of scenes. In my opinion.

I had OHMSS at 15, which surprised me. It's a very technically polished sequence, much more so than the one that preceded it, but I find the clips of past movies to be a mistake, and I'm not sure I quite understand the point of the imagery. It's nice to have a theme, but looking back in time isn't really the theme of OHMSS.

And if I can point out something that will make me sound weird: I find the angle at which the silhouette models are filmed at the end of the sequence to be odd. They look normal in movement, but the position they (and the camera) settle on makes their breasts look like strange little nubs.

Number 8 for me. I love the opening with the running Bond silhouette. The hourglass is a cool concept but I agree that much better images could have been used to represent the previous films. Still a very memorable sequence.
3 of my top 5 still in the running.

It's nice to have in our top 5 the three principal title designers.
It means something for the quality continuity in the franchise over the years.

My #4. I dig the Bond silhouettes here and all the colors.

I'm slightly disappointed. Personally, I find the OHMSS titles way stronger than the TB ones. Even with the hourglass montage of "old" images, the titles are vibrant and creative, as opposed to swimming ladies, slow harpoons and bubbles. But hey, I'm glad OHMSS ended up in the top 10.

Your comment reminded me that it is indeed Brownjohn who did the GF titles while I listed it as Binder’s.

    Edited it now, thanks!

Except for TSWLM, which I had at no. 17, those are my top four.

True, I find it much better than TB too.
It should be at least in Top 5, then TB at #6.

I prefer the TB titles to the ones from OHMSS: I ranked the latter at #12. The part with the clock looks cool. The hourglass is only solid imo. And I agree with @ProfJoeButcher : looking back isn't the theme of this movie. (I understand why they did it, obviously).

13 for me! OHMSS is number 1 Bond film for me, but I think Binders titles are only ok. Rather than dwelling on past films, he had a chance to do something fresh and new, but alas.....!
Barrys pulsating theme makes up for them though!
Interesting comments on TB, if I recall correctly, they won the last time we did something like this!

I had OHMSS at 8th spot. Good, but as @Mathis1 said, it could've been so much better.
