Another $4 million on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will give it the $10 million it needs.

It looks like it'll finish in third place.

I am quite certain now the $900 million is in reach now:

    $672.9 million worldwide (current standings)
$110.0 million China (prediction, China heavily featured in the film, fastest growing market)
$ 48.0 million Australia (prediction, very loyal to British stuff)
$ 6.0 million New Zealand (prediction, same as Australia)
$ 37.0 million Japan (prediction, less than 'M:I - GP' by the way)
    +
TOTAL UNTIL THEN: $873.9 MILLION WORLDWIDE (PREDICTION)
at least $ 26.1 million all other nations in the world except China, Australia, New Zealand & Japan
    +
TOTAL AT LEAST $ 900.0 MILLION WORLDWIDE (PREDICTION)

It won't get anywhere near $110m in China. I understand your reasoning - but going by past blockbusters (in general), I would predict closer to $60-70m in China.

LOL. I said the same about $600 million overseas and it's going to reach that. This film is exceeding all expectations so best to go above what seems likely. With $250 million on the cards from the US alone, that's $850 million in the bag.
  • Uhmm, 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' got past the $100 million in China as well.

@Gustav_Graves, you seem sure Skyfall will earn more than $900 million but do you see it being Goldfinger? Will it be close either way? What's your guess?

Yup, I saw it. Thanksgiving tomorrow. So a long weekend for all Americans. Making it almost certain that 'Skyfall' will pass the $200 million after this busy Thanksgiving weekend. Perhaps already after Saturday.

Also, with these predictions, the figures in China, Australia, Japan and New Zealand don't need to be as high as my previous predictions to pass the $900 million.

Interesting question hehe. Not sure, but as upcoming weekend (Australia, Thanksgiving in USA, New Zealand) will give us soaring figures. I think even that might happen. Beating 'Thunderball' might be too much to ask...
  • I am not sure if SF is going to get net proffit from its theatrical run. Production budget is 200 million and probably they have spent almost the same in prints and ads. Studios usually get about 55% of domestic gross and 40-45% of internationaL box office. However, with the product placement they will have net proffits before the DVD n BD release.

Good point, although who knows how accurate that 200 million figure is? Has there been an official validation of it, or was it just an industry guess?

Also, I think in the Empire podcast interview the writers said that the film didn't actually earn money from product placement at all, but rather co-promotions: ie if there is a product in the film, that brand have tie-in ads which effectively give the film millions more value of promotion.

The product placement matter is never clear. In some ocasions producers and directors coment that is not possible to make a Bond flick without product placement incomes. Anyway, this movie is going to be a very important financial success.

G.G although mission impossible 4 made $100 mil in china do you think the possibility of Skyfall opening on the same weekend as the hobbit will effect it's gross as apparently it is a real possibility.?

$5.6M for Skyfall tuesday box office in the U.S.

I think Skyfall can do it. It's the big 50, the hype is huge, and after such a long wait people NEED Bond. It will gross big, maybe the biggest ever in the franchise, and at the end of the day it will be the overall better film than a hormone, vampire, and werewolf filled crapfest.
you need to meet my girl friend and tell her that please that as to be the truest most funny comment on her i love it and i am getting dragged to see that crapfest omg noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$170.5M for Skyfall in the U.S.
  • Well, if Tuesday is an indication that 'Skyfall' starts soaring again on the road to Thanksgiving, then things look very rosy. I wonder if Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Brocolli are following these figures closely. They must have had a 'small private party' with all 'employees' by now ;-).

By the way, 'Thunderball', the most succesful Bond movie ever was officially produced by Kevin McGlory (Brocolli & Saltzman were executive producers), so Barbara and Michael have a good chance of having produced the most succesful Brocolli movie ever, inflation adjusted :-).

Anything past Sunday is gravy at this point.

Well done EON. You've got the success you deserved with this film.
