Great shots @Benny is that Ken Adams giving Connery a run for his money as to who has the hairiest chest? LOL!

Good idea. Unfortunately, before discovering these images, we had already resigned ourselves to an Insalata Caprese.

Even though it was a troubled production (apparently) for Sean Connery, from the images it looks like he's having at least some fun.

At the risk of being off-key here, I'd love to have...a Toyota 2000 roadster. Probably no chance with the disposable part of my income.

Although personally I feel TB is where Connery peaked as Bond, it's hard to dispute that the man IS cool!
He looks to be the consummate professional in many of these shots.

I agree, @Benny. Despite him having a fued with the producers, he looks like he is doing a good job being a true professional.

Love all these snaps and shots. Sean does look happy to be in the role again. I believe he only soured when they did location filming in Japan and the media followed him into the men's washroom. Recently on the Mi6 podcast I learned that Dean Martin had talked to Sean about his wage for the Matt Helm series and how much influence and creative control he had. This soured him a bit more, but not sure if this was during shooting or before. Either way I always believed Sean was a pro and I am convinced that his performance is a result of direction from Lewis Gilbert in terms of his laid back nature in this film.

Are there any photos that show the original Blofeld? Or was he only on set for so short a time that they are non-existent!

@thedove. One of the "Volcano Lair" PR photos includes Werich. I'll see if I can find it - again.

He's second on the right of the picture (in a hat).

Interesting that the destruction of the lair appears to be one of the first studio shots?

There are a few shots of Jan Werich in character as Blofeld. I'll be posting more this afternoon. Until then, please enjoy this selection.

If only the producers had understood the benefit of keeping their star happy. If only. Look at Sean! That man, right there, is James Bond, and he'll always be James Bond.

Compared to the first 4 films, Connery looks like he's having less fun making YOLT

Seems like Sean is enjoying himself in these images.
A few of Sean and Aki rehearsing the Kobe docks scene are nice too see.
As @DarthDimi said, if only Cubby and Harry had kept their star happy.

As they only made two I'm afraid it likely will remain a dream! :D I did see one at the Paris motor show 007 exhibit back in the mid-90s, I'm not sure if it was replica or the real thing.

The production model GT coupe versions are insanely expensive today, it's pretty amazing: I think they've managed to go over the €1,000,000 mark. One of those two roadsters made for the movie... I can't imagine how much they would be worth now.

I do feel like he's not being as inventive in his performance as in the previous films; he's saying the lines and doing the actions, but he's not adding that extra sparkle, he's not thinking of those extra little touches he could add that he had done before. Or indeed would do again for DAF.

Probably thought he wasn't being paid to deliver more than the bare minimum, so that's all they were going to get. If it's true that Cubby and Harry had renegotiated their own contracts/profits with the studio several times already, while denying Connery the same opportunity, I can see why he might not've been willing to go the extra mile any more.

I'm sure most of us have seen the March 1967 "Whicker's World" documentary. (If you click on the "learn more" bar you will be taken to the vimeo platform for playback).

Love the rooftop sequence. Cool to see them rehearsing it. The sweep up and the music from Barry is chefs kiss!

I would say his performance is laidback in this film @mtm yes he's not brash or bold like TB or GF but he still exudes a confidence and coolness. The script doesn't really shine with dialogue. When it does, the scene in Osato's office and healthy chest Connery rises to the occasion. I was let down by the meeting of Bond and Blofeld. It has no real tension or build up. If only we had got a dinner type scene, like DN or MWTGG and you could rachet up the tension. Instead they meet in a control room while the plan is underway. We get cut aways to a girl swimming and being shot at by a helicopter, the ninjas trying to get in the fortress, etc. A shame!

Love how these shots of YOLT really capture a 60's vibe. The car the women! Love the aerial shot of the volcano set! WOW even more impressive from that view.
