//Baz Bamigboye has confirmed that Fiennes is expected to star in Bond 25:
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6217011/Ralph-Fiennes-star-new-Kingsman-prequel-shines-spotlight-intelligence-organisations.html//

Actually, he doesn't. Here's the phrasing:

//Fiennes is expected to be in that film, too.//

"Is expected" is a journalistic phrasing for when you *haven't confirmed it yourself.* But you say "is expected" (Who expects it? This is almost never specified.) as a substitute to cover up you don't actually know. If Baz had confirmed it, he'd likely say "according to sources" or similar phrasing.

Baz states that Fiennes is 'expected to be in B25'. I agree. He is indeed expected to be in the film.
Precisely. Not confirmation as far as I'm concerned. Does someone want to clarify via Twitter?

See my post that came after yours. "Is expected" is a construction used when the scribe hasn't actually confirmed it himself/herself.

when EON and/or Fiennes says he's in, then he is. Until then, he's not.

I posted that. Definitely seems like he could be hinting at a return; I bet it's been talked about, but nothing quite set in stone yet.

    Seems Wright.
  • Jeffrey Wright wad last seen in QoS. He had great chemistry with Beam. Felix & Beam talked about peppers helping Felix avoid illness from bad drinking water.

Jeffrey Wright actually was featured in a travel food vlog/documentary about peppers.

He was made to return as Felix for Bond 25.

It was never up for debate with Lee or Dench, likewise with Fiennes. He’s ‘in’, until EON or Fiennes say otherwise. Same goes for Harris & Whishaw.

Would be very happy if Jeffrey Wright were to return. Give him a bigger role, and reduce the MI6 regulars to a scene or two. Keep Tanner out altogether as he's a character who's not really needed. Fiennes M can do Tanners duties if need be.
Keep M, Q and Moneypenny office bound.

Yes, although I like Bond's comradery with Tanner.

    bring back Jeffrey Wright!

    sack Rory Kinnear

    less Fiennes and Harris

about the same amount of Whishaw - who is the best of the SF additions

Agreed in principle. But Fiennes is surely the biggest/most expensive name of the bunch, so I think the better question is not "is he in the movie" but rather "how much is he in the movie?"

Bond killing a rogue M would be interesting. But I'm sure slot of traditionalists would disagree.

I would find it interesting but considering Fiennes took this role as he really doesn’t want to be the villain in every big budget film he has done I would prefer they wait till the next M

I don't want any more rogue MI-6 personnel, including Bond, and no double agents, turncoats, traitors etc...
  • At this point in time, Bond actually receiving his mission orders and carrying them out to the best of his ability would be a refreshing change.
I hope the new film's pre-credit sequence starts with showing a bad bastard's evil deeds, and ends with M's declaration... "we need Bond back" . . .
And yes, we need to hate the villain, so show us how evil he is, make us care, please. This was a big goof with SPETRE. Did we even see Blofeld in a scene without Bond in? In fact, was there any scene without Bond in?.

In the old days we could pretty well have a pre titles sequence without Bond in it. Even in a book. In FRWL it takes ages until we get to read about Bond. And it works to a wonderful effect. People nowadays can't handle with waiting and frustration, they get very angst, like crying babies in a cradle, calling for the ever obliging lazy parents who can't handle making them frustrate a little bit longer in order to teach them the ways of the world. So, we get fat babies who can't wait, and castrated parents. And that's the story of the current film industry ;)

In a perfect Bond movie Bond does not appear at all in the first 45 minutes, is a supporting character in the next 45 minutes, and becomes the main character for the final 45 minutes.

A lot of us would do fine with such a scenario. In fact it would be more fresh than anything else they've done in ages.

But we're living in an age of ADD, gotta' have it now. People would walk out, shut it off, fast forward, etc.

Wright for me is quite considerably the best Leiter.

All the others seemed like inferior to Bond, even Lord who starts out quite cool and deadly turns into a Bond lackey, then it's just a joke throughout the Connery era, Linder is terrible, Van Nutter again in awe of Bond and Norman Burton well he's not the worst thing about the film but he's certainly not the best.

Hedison isn't brilliant in LALD but the best since Lord, better in LTK

Jeffrey Wright is the first Leiter that you feel can stand side by side Bond and there is no air of him being inferior to Bond, his exchanges with him in both CR and QOS are some of the highlights of both.

Plus DC and Wright have great chemistry, you feel this is two actors enjoying working with each other, also Wright is by far the best and most versatile actor to play the role.

I seriously hope he gets to close out Daniel's era in Bond 25, although if he doesn't I'm confortable in saying he's never done the character a disservice and despite him not meeting up to Fleming's literary description he very much embodies the spirit while putting his own spin on it.

Exactly, but that would imply a brilliant original story, and that's a rare thing.

You're not going to get a Bond film where he doesn't show up for the first 45 minutes. It'll never happen. The only way that could work effectively is if Bond left the big screen and became like a HBO/Netflix/Amazon TV series.

Maybe if they adapt TSWLM. Although they didn t follow that route with FRWL.

It's hard to surprise the audience and market the film heavily at the same time, nowadays the trailers give away 50 percent of the film. I predict a shadow figure image of bond in the first teaser.

I agree. This is they should make Devil May Care when they reboot. He could have cinematic redemption. Also, Felix Leiter could have a bigger role. It's time they got their fair share of screen time for a good story, where they're useful.

I agree teaser are supposed to tease the Audience not to reveal the best scenes.

That could of Course provoke an even deeper emotional effect than M dying at the end of SF. The Question is, has there been established a Deep enough bond between Bond and M already to make it work? Or would they manage to build that in the first half of the film? Plus, Killing a traitorous M would mean again more screentime for M.

On the other Hand, killing a traitorous M would fit well in line with the constant rehashing of themes during the Craig era: The theme of trust in CR, QoS and SF. M being killed. A character/element (like Blofeld/SPECTRE) introduced and after a short time disposed of again.

We need a Bond film that has everyone at MI6 (at least the 00 section) ALL being on the same page/side/team. Sometimes a simple case of good vs evil is all one needs. It just needs to be deftly executed.
