Just saw Blade Runner 2049. Denis Villeneuve NEEDS to get the gig, or it will be a huge loss the biggest loss of talent the Bond franchise has ever seen.

I don't think Bond should ever be realistic, even the most grounded entry is pure nonsense, Bond isn't Smiley and should never be.

Smiley represents a Spy in the real world, Bond is total fantasy, utterly ridiculous but making a 3 dimensional character that bleeds and hurts is not a bad thing.

The thing is I can't see them being able to make films like the Moore & Brosnan films, there is a generation that has grown up with the DC films and recognises Bond as a brooding type.

No some of us see Bond differently but the current model is now on the table and I don't think the next Bond will entirely abandon this model.

Some here just say the next Bond will be the same as before and Daniel Craig will be seen as the last guy like PB was but I disagree.

It's only those in denial that can deny the type of actor and method this character can be interpreted has changed, some say bollocks and they are welcome to it but Daniel Wroughton Craig has changed the way this character will be perceived and played mark my words on this one.

Blah Blah Blah Dalton got there first etc. etc, he didn't Craig approached the role very differently and he has changed the pieces on the board that will reverberate through the series for years to come.

We'll never know till Bond #7 comes, now will we?

Whereas I'll say Craig will be seen as any other actor who came before. He only redefined the role for his era, and that will come to an end when his tenure is complete. Bond isn't a unique feather not to change face or persona. Like many other characters changed their interpretations, so will Bond. The Roger and Pierce eras, one way or another, will come back. Either with the next Bond, or the one after it.

    Daily Mirror:

    Okay, brace yourselves:

    - Monica Bellucci to return
    - Elon Musk has developed the story
    - N. Korea and the nuclear threat are part of that story
    - S. Africa will be used as a location

Gotta say if they were going with the Spectre route they should’ve added hints throughout the past 11 years. Meetings like in the old films and showing Waltz petting the cat but face hidden or a stand in. Then finally reveal who he is in Spectre. The fact that they just randomly say oh it was Spectre and not really Quantum is so dumb. How come no one had a Spectre ring? Silva was really a Spectre agent and not someone on a personal vendetta against M? Hmm... First two Craig films were perfect because it was Bond. He didn’t really have any emotional attachment to anyone or anything. Then he gets attached to vesper and she dies and betrays him. So he basically learned his lesson and moved on.... Is it really believable that he would just ditch MI6 for Swann? The whole “I love you”, it just doesn’t make sense... I love all the Craig films but in a way Mendes screwed the next director over majorly. He probably intended this to be Craigs last film. I still don’t think we will get any solid news until next summer.

Honestly I'm curious if they could pull off the whole "World War III Averted" scenario again.

I miss that scenario in the Bond films. That, and the total armageddon scenario.

With Spectre as a legit threat instead of Daddy/Brother Issues Anonymous it would be glorious. :D I just wouldn't bring real world issues into it though.

Laughable. The Mirror has essentially laid out the entire story for us in the past two months. Quite surprised they're still sticking to their word.

What is everyone's favourite element of the Daily Mirrors claims?

I like South Africa as a location best. Seems the least Die Another Day ish

Dear EON, you simply can NOT let a story like this get published and expect us not to be disappointed if Elon Musk won't end up getting credited as a writer.

Quoting the article: "Bond needs to keep up with the times and will be looking into Elon Musk’s world, spacecrafts, planes that can fly across the earth in an hour, cars turning into submarines."

It's complete BS, but Hell, that sounds like my kind of Bond movie!

Exactly. CR and QoS did everything to build towards a Bond who has learned his lessons. Instead of building further on that and developing a fresh and extremely solid character, what we got is exactly the same experience again, and the question painfully arises how such an emotionally unbalanced agent is supposed to be Her Majesty´s finest. Then again, with such a mole-infested MI6, it would make sense that they put such an emo-Bond on the frontline.

My thoughts exactly! That’s what Skyfall triggered for me and it’s one of the reasons I dislike it with passion.

True. Craig's Bond is not what you call a thinker.

@Shardlake There weren't that many pieces left on the board, the onset of the Craig era swept most, if not all, of them away.

I like the "blah blah Dalton bit". Reminds me of that old chestnut "real fans.....".

All guess work. These "insiders" are never accurate. I am willing to bet my life Bond 25 has no rocket / space element. What this is, is journalists jumping on prior Craig comments. In which he said a few years ago "sending Bond in to space, I am for that" this was a joke about not repeating what had already been done under his tenure. What can I said Bond news sells newspapers.

The plot will feature Bond tracking down Drax's corpse in space, only to stumble upon LV-426 and do battle with some Xenomorphs. You heard it here first, ladies and gentlemen.

I didn’t know that article was being serious with its proposed journal story. Sending Bond into space with flying cars and Elon Musk writing the story? Since when Musk is a writer?

I’d sooner believe the 1967 spoof with Sellers and Niven were based on real life events than buy into a story like that.
