Yes the only confirmed statement from Boyle himself was he was more influenced by book bond rather than a Cinematic bond .

That makes me sad. Literary Bond "a la" the one in Dr. No would be awesome. Tight setting, few characters, a bit of noir suspense and minimum action.

Then again, we live in era of superhero/MI/Kingsman grand action so...

The past has shown that like for literary Bond doesn´t mean an understanding congruent with the majority of the audience.
When? There is a great misunderstanding of what literary Bond is. I’ll guess and say Dalton, but his performance wasn’t the character either, it was way more intense and humorless than literary Bond. It was Dalton’s take on literary Bond tailored for him; it’s closer to the character than what Moore became in terms of smirky or silly, but people inaccurately think of Dalton as the definitive literary character. Plus Craig is very close to Dalton if not more so in seriousness vein.

That’s why it’s curious to know what Boyle wanted... of course he may have just said it as slight of EON without meaning and it was really all about autonmy.

Wasn´t it said About Mendes too that he was a big fan of Fleming´s novels? Or was that just a construction based on bits he might have said?

The only solace I would take in this happening is that it would definitely mean the next Bond would be a reboot, therefore making it less likely that they could continue the unBondian Craig era emo tropes.

the only way bond dieing makes sense is either You Only live twice or how it was done in From Russia with love novels...

Wouldn't that be a way to introduce a new Bond? Have a cliffhanger Bond "death" at the end of B25 and have the new Bond be in recovery in B26. Not my first choice but it would be ballsy for sure. And an interesting way of adapting the FRWL book ending

Not sure about anyone else but my impatience levels have reached its peak! Knowing production is right around the corner...

I’ve never checked this form for news as much as I have so far this month. Any day now... Any day now...

Hopefully we'll get something from Baz tomorrow. He was in attendance at Broccoli's party the other night, and has had multiple opportunities to chat with Rami Malek about his possible casting.

I don’t think he did that I remember. It wasn’t evident in his movies either.

It might be more exciting if nothing comes out until press conference...maximum impact. Oh, another possible title...

I hope we get something a bit more juicy than that, I mean Rami Malek being cast wouldn't be like a huge surprise. We've seen it coming.

At least it would be something concrete. There's more reason to announce it tomorrow than at the press conference, seeing at it has already been rumoured for a while now.

I actually support his suggestion for Madeleine Swann being a psychologist at MI6, and they've broken up.

I find that character name more entertaining that I probably should. Makes me go "Hah!" every time I watch the film.

I do too, but then nothing happens. Same with Dynamite Comics version of LALD.

  • Well if I knew that a year from today I’d be getting another Connery or Moore type standalone movie then I’d be absolutely ecstatic! But seeing as how it’ll probably be another soap opera “continuity” personal mission I can’t be too excited. Bond films sure aren’t what they once were.

Yes. Agreed. Bond sucks. EoN Sucks. That's why I will stick around here a little longer to tell everyone why we shouldn't get excited for a new Bond film. PM me. Lets commiserate.

So I've been listening to the audio-commentary for Casino Royale, with Barbara, Michael and the rest of the main crew, and I would really love to see Peter Lamont and Lindy Hemming return for Bond 25.

They both did marvellous work on that film in particular and hearing them talk about the process is fascinating.
