Yes, not my main pick but he could bring back the ladies into the franchise like Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery did so.

Im praying for the next Bond to look the most universal appealing to the ladies as Possible but without alienating its main fan base which are the guys.

Correct me if im wrong but i have the feeling that with Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan the bond films were the real date movies.
Since it had the glam and male eye candy for woman and the action and the Bond girls for the guys and well The character of Bond appealed to Both in a different way
Every girl when they went to see the films said i want my James Bond and guys wanted to be bond, I think the closest contenders to it are Chris Hemsworth and Michael Fassbender.

Now Jack Houston is doing great with the female crowd thanks to Ben Hur.

Szonana, its ok to have preferences, but to suggest, that DC didn't bring back the Ladies is ridiculous. He brought them BACK in droves. Plus the gays, something Pierce never achieved. So please, take it easy with your assumptions.

As far as I see it, CH isn't half as loved by the Ladies as some seem to suggest. But that's just my observations. Let him be Bond, no problem though. ;)

    Absolutely GL.

The birds love Dan. My missus thinks hes head and shoulders above any of the other Bond's and your own proclivities are of course well know on this issue dear @Germanlady.

The demographic at Dan Bond film screenings I've been in has been pretty much 50/50, it seems to me women love him as much as the men.

If no women were going we wouldnt have done $2bil in the last two films. The Bond audience has a bigger spread in terms of age and sex than the teenage/twentysomething predominantly male audience that Marvel rely on.

I think "chicks dig" all of the Bonds. Connery the most of course.
Broz and Craig probably have the gayest appeal. Dalts owns the Shakespeare crowd.

The "Birds" love DC, absolutely. But the "Birds" already loved Brosnan too. There were not suddenly more women at the cinema. CR and QOS didn't have higher ticket sales than GE and DAD for example.
It was only SF which elevated the franchise to ticket sales that last were seen with TSWLM and further back with YOLT, TB.

An actor will mostly be judged for the movies he is in. So Craig has it relatively easy with 3 fantastic movies CR QOS and SP of which at least CR is one of the true classics.

If Craig had not received such great movies he probably wouldn't be as popular.
There is only so much an actor can do.

Roger Moore might be the exception, even in a possibly least good Bond movie he shines and elevates the movie to "watchable", talking about TMWTGG.

Connery even at his lowest (DAF) was still better than most performances that came after him.

A new actor, let's say, Chris Hemsworth, will depend on the material he is given.

If it is another CASINO ROYALE he will be loved and not be compared too much to his predecessors.
If the movie fails artistically a new actor will have it difficult no matter how good he may be in the film.

I guess i am making many assumptions probably just based on my taste and my close friends.
I bet Criag has his female base but its a more selective refined Fan base.

I do like Craig physically he has also grown on me in this aspect, I first thought eww that's Bond but time made him more attractive to me so I could be wrong the only way to find out is with an extensive poll.

I could see Chris as He-Man/Prince Adam in a remake of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE more than could picture him as Bond. Even though Craig broke the mold, I don't particular want a beefy blond 007 to be the new norm-spoken by someone who possesses massive blond locks himself.
  • If we're going to have a superhero actor play Bond, it has to be Henry Cavill...

That's funny, I didn't realise that Brosnan alienated the ladies. And the gays??
Although I don't want to use emoticons anymore I need to just now
    =))

So poor Pierce wasn't appealing to gays...

I guess the franchise never recovered from that blow.

Watch your back rolling on the floor, Jason, you might get hurt.

How exactly did Craig bring 'the ladies BACK in droves?'. That would imply the ladies were turned off Brosnan.

If he did, there would be nothing wrong with it hehe.

I have a few girl crushes like Monica Bellucci, Catherine Zeta Jones, Eva Green, Famke Janssen and Margot Robbie.

Fassbender I can see. Hemsworth? I find this surprising, despite his physique.

I thought this was one of the biggest flops of the year. This year's Man From Uncle (starring that other supposed 'contender' Henry Cavill).

You convinced me. He can't be Bond.

The Idris Elba for bond appreciation society probably.

Like Chriscoop said, absolutely not. Not even Elba. Or any woman. Bond is white, and hopefully always British. About Hemsworth, maybe this is a good time to post this again.

All kidding aside, Ghostbusters wouldn't hurt his chances- it's good to show you've got a sense of humor.
Not sure if he'd make a good Bond, but I do like him more than a couple of the names that have been mentioned on this thread
  • Could we be due for an update, @BondJasonBond006?

I added Craig and dropped Sonny Robertson (I'm not sure if he was meant to be serious. If so, LMK)

I like to revive this thread and have changed the title.

A lot of talk and discussion goes into the topic of who could/should/will play James Bond next. This thread has dealt with possible potential Bond actors so far.

Now try to imagine you could be finished with Bond all of a sudden. Is that possible and what would it take for letting this happen?

There are a lot of almost allergic reactions to mentioning Aidan Turner possibly being the next James Bond. Would that be the end for you?

If they do a continuation of the Craig-arc in Bond 25 and once more bring past things from the era to the new film, would that do it?

    These are just some examples.

Personally I cannot imagine anything stopping my love for Bond. Nothing realistic at least.

But I do admit, that if they would cast another actor that looks nothing like James Bond, that it would have a huge negativ impact on me.

I'd like to think not. I'd also like to think that no matter how little I may be interested in a new era I'd be willing to give it a chance, accept it for what it is and try to appreciate it in some way. I don't want to live through a series of Bond films I don't enjoy, and would be depressed if that were to occur down the line.

I suppose the only thing that would do it is if they cast an actor that, for whatever reason, I just couldn't get behind no matter what. Perhaps a gimmick like a female Bond or some such nonsense.

    My thoughts exactly.

As for Turner, I don't want him as Bond but if he was cast I wouldn't boycott it. I just don't think he's worthy of the role. Had he have just been mentioned once and not be overhyped by some users claiming he will be successor to the thrown I wouldn't be so against him but this over hype has made me not like him.

A none white Bond would kill it for me. I wouldn't watch it at the cinema because I wouldn't support none Fleming PC nonsense. On the flipside I wouldn't watch a White Shaft or Blade either.
