I'm just saying they didn't HAVE to make her that important... it's just another example of everything having to be overly "personal" to Bond.

Yeah, maybe Swan would've worked better as an ordinary Bond Girl. Come to think of it, we haven't had a traditional Bond Girl from Craig yet. By 'traditional Bond Girl' I mean someone who:

    1. Is female (sorry Tanner)
    2. Does not die through the course of the film (sorry M, Vesper, strawberry, casino royale chick in the hammock)
    3. Actually has sex with Bond (sorry Camille, Moneypenny)
    4. Does not fall 'in love' with Bond (sorry Madie)

    :D

Yes, Tanner is so obviously smitten with Bond, it's plain to see.

I started writing a script, just for my personal enjoyment. This one is for a reboot, so it could be for Bond 25, or Bond 26. I'll post it in segments. Each time I'll post a new segment, I'll quote the previous ones so you can have it as a whole.

In my version the characters are a little different in terms of personality, so you may not instantly recognize them. Anyway, here's the first tease.

I like this sort of cloak and dagger stuff. It's been missing from cinematic Bond since the 60's, sadly...

It's an interesting start - not sure how I feel about not actually seeing Bond almost 5 minutes into the film, though (counting the credits)

I do like me a bit of 'Sneaky Bond' too, he's been sadly missing in the Craig era.

'sneaky Bond' has been missing for faar longer than just the Craig era..

but dont forget some of the parts in CR... sneaking into M's apartment, hacking her laptop.. causing a distraction to sneak into the hotel security room.. using an earpiece to listen in on Le Chiffre in his hotel room.

The Broz had a bit of Sneaky Bond, the Hamburg break-in in TND was pretty cool and, obviously, the GE PTS was the epitome of Sneaky. The Craig-era has Bond far more likely to use brute force (e.g. punching a wall in SP to find a hidden room).

It's just a hobby, I've never actually written before. But I'll be waiting for your opinions after I post the new segment ;)

Just had some pointers on the nuts and bolts, not necessarily the narrative.

As long as they don't go into space or shoot lasers. We need a return to grit and subtlety.

What we need is serious and plausible storylines.

Or characters that act in a plausible way amidst a heightened reality. There should always be something otherworldly about a Bond movie. A lot of Fleming stories are ludicrous but they're anchored by well developed characters and every bit of fantasy is counteracted by a dose of mundanity.

I personally would like to see Dan's Bond go full blown undercover, Russian accent or something like that, in the vein of TMWGG novel where bond is working for Scaramanga at the hotel. Perhaps infiltrating the rest of Spectre from the inside disguised OHMSS style.

I am afraid Spectre knows him all too well for that. Perhaps the character will undergo a plastic surgery as an older actor gets the part after Craig?

A few more pages, hot out of the oven. This is more like a draft. I'm sorry for the unfinished scene. That one is a bit difficult to write without being on location. After these pages, let me know if you want me to keep writing this as script or should I just give you the full plot.

Please don't quote this post, though, it would make the thread very difficult to read lol

  • Two things I read recently that may make an interesting plot:

Firstly, I found out that intelligence is actually being outsourced to a number of private companies, which is unbelievable. What if one of these firms is infiltrated - by SPECTRE, a corrupt businessman or mobsters like the Spang Brothers. The information could then be used to manipulate or destabilize the intelligence network, pit Mi6 and the CIA against each other, eliminate enemies, leak information or ensure criminal activity is covered up etc.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/the-outsourcing-of-us-intelligence-raises-risks-among-the-benefits/2013/06/09/eba2d314-d14c-11e2-9f1a-1a7cdee20287_story.html

Secondly, what about a plot involving digital assets/currency such as bitcoin? The villain could be using it to fund a network of criminal activity or carry out financial attacks which has happened in real life...

  • As for the F1 idea, it could make a good opening sequence. Have Bond chase a henchmen through Monte Carlo (with cars) while the Grand Prix is happening simultaneously, all building up to the inevitable moment that Bond and the henchmen somehow land on the course. Before the race can be stopped, they enter the famous tunnel and the henchmen is involved in a head on collision with the races leader, while Bond makes it through unscathed.

@haserot Hmm true, but I feel they could do more with it. After all Bond figured out the plan quite easily and C was quickly stopped. The whole idea seemed to take a back seat to the personal connections with Blofeld story line.

  • I feel like there is a balance needed in Bond 25 between the 'classic' Bond elements we all love, and the 'deep, emotional' storylines which are popular with a new audience in Skyfall and Casino Royale.
    How about this.
In the Pre-titles, Bond gets poisioned. He plays it down however Q examines him and informs him that the toxin is deadly and that he has only three days to live before he dies.
He begs Q not to tell M or anyone about this, and his mission is to not only track down the terrorist in the pre-titles, (m's orders) but to find the anditote in time, before he dies.
They could really play up the ticking clock element.
Bond desperate, lying to MI6 about his health, living what he thinks is his final days on earth.

My idea of the story is to be a Martian War tale:

    WARNING: Contains spoilers

Part 1 (Plot): Bond's mission to kill the German leader was called off as the trumpet heard from the skies around the world, while the army of mythical Gods go to war with The Martians; the ancient species from Mars. 007 and others come face to face with the leader of The Martians named Karken. Will there be the truth or consequence?

    What do you think?

@DisneyBond007 I think the real question is What are you thinking?
  • @James_Suzuki Interesting idea...but what would Bond's reason be not to get help from mi6? Why not tell M?

Interesting. But it's hard to believe that there is a toxine that has an antidote and Q or someone at MI6 can't make it. Only if the antidote is made out of some rare fruit or plant that they don't have. But in that case, why wouldn't Q go after it ? We've seen he can get "out of his bedroom" in Spectre.
