I'm not saying it won't happen, but this adds doubt to me.

I agree Daily Star is a total joke of rag, it makes up so much nonsense. There was also that picture with Lady Gaga claiming the two were working together.

I know a lot of people are strongly against the Idea of Lady Gaga performing the title song; for many she's "too weird" I have to wonder, would they have the same objection to David Bowie, who, in his early career,r was quite flamboyant.

While LG began her career, and at times still conducts herself, in an outrageous manner, she has also established herself as an extremely talented performer. From he album with Tony Bennett to her show stopping performance of songs from The Sound of Music on this years Oscars, her credibility as an artist has been strengthened. A friend of mine was at a weeding recently here in New Orleans; she was a brides maid and sang a song to the couple. He said that it was incredible and everyone present was impressed with her voice and presence

I'm a 51 year old Bond fan who does find some of lady Gaga's antics to be bizarre; but I would have no problem with her performing the title song.

Here is a poor quality video of a snippet from her Stevie Wonder tribute.

As a song writer Gaga penned loads of hits under her real name Stefani Germanotta for other people. It was only later she decided to just write for herself. Apart from her cheesy pop anthems behind it is a talented classicaly trained pianist and songwritter. I would not oppose anyone past or present as long as the track is high quality the words relate to the theme of the film and the music to the mood, so I am with you on this.

Someone should get on the phone to Paul McCartney. He recently had a world wide smash collaboaring with Kanye West and Rhianna, so how about an epic collaboration with Sir Paul and other BIG names: Bono (no stranger to Bond themes) and Lady Gaga and Macca! Mental but at least it would be fun unlike the dreary Sam Smith. Another idea I had would be Take That. If you listen to their Progressed album there is a belter called Don't Say Goodbye which is Bond-eqsue and is brilliant.

Don't see Depeche Mode being involved they have no commercial pull for the age groups who buy music. I am still of the opinion Adele will write the song and it will be performed by FKA Twigs.

I think they do have some pull for the 30+ crowd, but they are just too long in the tooth and lacking commercial recognition. They would have been more appropriate in the 80s and 90s. I mean, why now? I love DM, but TLD would have been their moment.

I found Chris Cornell to be a pick from left field when he was chosen to do the title song for Casino Royale. At the time he was not the flavor of the month or riding a crest of popularity. His contribution now ranks as one of my favorites. It will be interesting to see who is selected.

  • I don´t dislike Lady Gaga because she´s weird but because she´s a charlatan.
Also, apart from her duets with the great Tony Bennett, she sings awful pop.
Though I admit she has a great voice.

Is this Depeche Mode thing still going? It's April 3rd now... and I really like this rumor. :D

In the history of the series, only Chris Cornell has delivered a hard driving, high octane song equal to the instrumentals of FRWL or OHMSS. Duran Duran came close.
Let's get back to some pulse pounding music that announces this Bond will be pure adrenaline from the start.

I'm not sure who mentioned it before but I think Hozier (Take Me to Church) would be perfect for a Bond theme. He's also relevant enough to attract a larger demographic.

Post some unfavorable artists so they have the less possibilities to appear :P

It was me, it certainly stands out in the sea of mediocrity that is popular music these days. I've not heard his album but I'm curious to what else he's done.

I'd agree that Depeche Mode might not have the commercial pull but like Cornell who was far past his most popular stage of his career I think they'd deliver a cracking theme.
Their most recent album while not one of their classics definitely has it's moments and they still are the real deal live.

Also if this story about Martin Gore making an appearance in the film during the PTS I'm thinking the idea of them being involved in some stage of the film is a possibility if it's not the theme maybe the end credits.

I just don't think a ballad is the way to go with this, whereas Skyfall seems like a title that would suit a ballad, SPECTRE indicates sinister and something dark and brooding with a killer chorus, especially considering the idea for the opening credits, if it is what has been mentioned in the leaks, I don't see a love song cutting it.

I hope EON doesn't just pick an artist because they are hugely popular, I hope they pick the song that does the film justice and suits it not one that will just promote it due to the artist involved will give it the exposure.

Although I think that due to the huge success of Adele's SF which undoubtedly contributed to the Skyfall's box office then they unfortunately might give the job to the likes of Sam Smith or someone else who the tabloids love and will give the film that exposure they'll be wanting.

Smith is in the similar place that Adele was when SF was announced she was mentioned from the get go as the no. 1 choice and the press wouldn't let it go so it came as no huge surprise when she was announced and the hype was at fever pitch. Sam Smith has been mentioned since the press conference and it's not really stopped so if he gets the job I'll be disappointed but I won't be surprised.

I'm holding out for Depeche Mode but I know it's not likely.

Stephanie Sigman was in one of their videos, could it be a case of crossed wires?

If so I'm more than happy with that, big fan of the Arctics. AM was one of my favourite albums of 2013. I'm sure they'll get their regular producer James Ford but if they could utilise Josh Homme that would be incredible.

There are a lot of rumours around but that one pleases me much, hope it happens. At least a proper talented British band and one that I think will provide a great theme with or without the assistance of Thomas Newman.

Hope this rumor is true. Read that Craig is an Artic Monkeys fan so maybe it is. I hope they get a rock act for this and not stick some drippy ballad from Smith on this thing. Smith plagiarized his big award winning song. He doesn't deserve this gig.

He actually suggested them in an interview when asked if he was going to do it, so it'll be funny if they are.

    All she said was...

Nat: "the Bond folk (EON) wanted something with a bit of grit and attitude Sony A&R put the Bond peeps on to AM and the track "Crawling back to you". (No doubt it was a political move, Sony are to announce a 4 album deal with the band, that's a hot potato let out the bag a while back, a substantial bit of cash involved, Monkeys are keen to have more international recognition so it was win, win)

ME: Do you have the title of a sample?

Nat: I have only been given what I believe is a working title "Caught up in my sights." nobody hear has been allowed to hear the track but have no fear Monkeys kick ass, sure excuse the pun it will kill. Anyway back to the organ grinder stay classy"

I really hope this happens, they are such a great band and Alex Turner is a real talent. I'm sure they'll hit it out the park.

Does this mean it might be like CR and QOS another title tune that doesn't use the title?

Also if it is them it would be a poke in the eyes to the bookies as they aren't even in the running, just caught a recent list of so called favourites, Ed Sheeran? Shudders!!!

This is the best news! I'm obsessed with the Arctic Monkeys and with Bond. This would be quite the combination for me, a real mind blower.

Personally, I thought Smith had it in the bag. After all, he is in a very similar situation to Adele when she first started and his songs fit the more traditional Bond mould. He has a grand operatic and theatrical style to his music which very much suits Bond, much like Adele.

The Monkeys are cool and could produce a harder more rockier sound while still delivering a classic Bond tune. Alex Turner's skill as a lyricist is mesmerising.

@SirHilaryBray are you sure about this? I don;t want to get too excited only to be blindsided by a Sam Smith announcement.

Here are some Monkeys song which have an evocative Bondian feel:

The whole of Turner's Shadow Puppets album feels like something John Barry would have produced.

Bonus Round: The video for Snap Out of it featuring future Bond girl Stephanie Sigman

She´s kinda off the radar now so I don´t know if she has changed, but in the beginning at least she was so fake with her entire eccentricity. People can say about Madonna and her Peter Pan syndrome all they want, but at least she´s always been weird. Lady Gaga, on the other hand, just invents all of this bullshit around her monster fanbase or whatever and has always pretended to be the way she is just for the sake of it. She has no integrity whatsoever.

If Eon like TMND and Twine consider end credits song...

    José James José

Is like Caro Emerald a big fan of Billie Holiday. Him and Caro Emerald be optional.

Can never be sure about anything in life, but the woman works in processing PTS paperwork for labels so she appears to have been made privi to something. After Glastonbury last year there was no doubt how deserving the AM are to do it. It also makes a lot of sense. British, current, sound is right etc. Need to await an official announcement. However have no reason to doubt her.

@SirHilaryBray I hope that her name's not Nat, or you may have put her on thin ice, if her information is indeed correct ;)

I think - or at least hope - this is dead right. Craig may be the key. He is a fan of AM, and if he had the clout to pick Mendes as the director, given what happened with SP, he should easily have the clout to pick AM for the title song. Maybe wishful thinking but hopefully it is a fact.

Oh, I really hope Arctic Monkeys get to do this! Not only have they been making great music for years now, but (as mentioned above) the Shadow Puppets-album has that great Barry-sound.

Worth to mention; AM are not new to Bond-music! :-)
