    But you can't deny it is considered a classic for most Bond fans and casual movie goers.

    ...and you have to admit CR is considered a classic more so than GE.
    I do, but I just can't understand it.

    I'm not so sure about CR being considered a classic more so than GE. It's really a generation thing. Those of us who were in their early teens or so when GE premièred often thought the word of it and spent all of the remaining Brosnan years wishing they'd revisit the template of GE.

    Most people my age who grew up with GE and GE on the N64 will most likely find GE much more classic than CR... GE was huge back then. How many hours did I spend with friends, my father playing a round of GE multiplayer....

    GF a bore!????

    It's a marvelous film. Hugely entertaining. Packed with classic moments and characters, memorable and witty dialogue, and iconic images. Superb title song, swinging score, genius production design. Connery is super cool and deadly. And in fact Bond is not imprisoned for half the film at all. The Fort Knox climax is unforgettable.

    I love GF and the general public do too. It always get a top if not the top vote when the general public are asked to vote on their fav Bond film.

    Also, for me CR does rank as a classic Bond above GE.

Kids who were 10-15 years old in 1995 will most likely rank GE more classic than CR, same thing for 10-15 years old in 2006, which are the aimed demographics of both GE and CR. Those who were above 20 when either CR or GE were released, they will prefer one of them.... or both,

    Yes, I do think that is true.

    I'm in my mid-40's now and grew up with those Connery Bonds - saw ALL of them on the big screen, often re-release double bills which packed out the cinemas in the early 70's.

    GF was massively popular. Back then there was nothing else like Bond, so it was truly special.

    Today there are exotic thrillers and action movies all over the place, so I totally understand why some of the magic my generation felt with Bond has diminished with the next generation -- but it's still good that Bond is still hugely popular.

    Now you got me thinking. By the time a clean-shaven Bond orders a dry martini with three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet shaken very well until it's ice-cold with a large thin slice of lemon peel, wouldn't he already have a beard?

    However, I would love to see his home and May, his housekeeper.

    Oh. I agree with three of your four, but I was never a Goldfinger fan.
    But you can't deny it is considered a classic for most Bond fans and casual movie goers.

    I have to admit GF is a bit of a bore... Connery is captured for half the film.

    I do not doubt nor deny it's impact on the future of the Bond films, it was just my least favorite Connery film.

    I despised the title song. More so than Diamonds Are Forever or License to Kill. My favorite title songs are, in this order:

    1.) Casino Royale "You Know My Name"
    2.) Quantum of Solace "Another Way to Die"
    3.) The Living Daylights "The Living Daylights"
    4.) The Spy Who Loved Me "Nobody Does it Better"
    5.) Thunderball "Thunderball"
    6.) From Russia With Love "From Russia With Love"
    7.) Quantum of Solace (Video Game) "When Nobody Loves You"
    8.) Blood Stone (Video Game) "I'll Take it All"
    9.) Everything or Nothing (Video Game) "Everything or Nothing"

    I didn't like Goldfinger himself that much. He does get my favorite line in the whole of the franchise, but that doesn't redeem him in my mind. Oddjob was... I dunno what to say about Oddjob. It seems to me that people only like him for his hat, not really his character.

    I will admit to liking the climax at Fort Knox, but I also liked the scenes with Bond taunting Goldfinger into revealing his plan.

    This movie also gave us one thing that I simply can't imagine Bond without: The Aston Martin DB5.

    But, overall, I didn't really care for Goldfinger.

    I personally find Daniel Craig very handsome when he wears a beard! Also, I could think of a number of reasons for Bond to show-up bearded. I'm sure that for most of the film he will still be sporting a very well-shaved face.

    Bond having a beard for part of the film but not all of the film makes sense. As said, if this ties into his daily routine this is fantastic news. Bond hungover for the start of the film would make for a great angle to explore.

    I'm sure they'll still be a lot of hand to hand fights but less action and explosions would always be a plus. As for "it's gone back to blowing stuff up – including London's Vauxhall Bridge" I'm sure that isn't one and the same!

    This is kind of what I had imagined.
    Bond on to way to see M, with Moneypenny straightening his tie and combing his hair. Touches like this would be very welcome. I'm not sure what novel this takes place in but I've always liked it.

    Okay, okay, it is The Sun, but if Craig were to have a beard for some of the film, I could for sure see it like how @DaltonCraig007, @Agent007391 and @ColonelSun were saying earlier in the thread:

    Bond has been on a fortnight vacation or something, and he is just hanging around in his flat. He hasn't shaved in awhile, he is just kicking back. Then he is either abruptly called into duty, or his vacation simply ends. So he shaves to a clean cut, fixes his hair, slides into an impeccable suit and goes back to work. Bond is back. (That sort of thing)

    Sounds great. It's definitely workable for Craig to wear a beard before he shaves it off, plus we've seen Connery, Moore and Brosnan's Bond shave in the past.

    I like that idea! And when he returns to active duty everyone will tease him and ask him how he is, leaving him to prove himself more than ever. It would be great to have a scene like that of the film RED. Bond is home and away from the action he is so used to. He can't stand being injured and off duty. He tries to watch the tube, but gets annoyed. He tries to read but can't concentrate on a word. He jumps in the shower but just hangs his head as the water rushes off of him. Things like this would be cool to see, and we can connect to just how bored Bond is when he isn't in danger. I want a scene or two in Bond's flat for sure!

    If this beard talk is true, it means the stunt with Bond moving from car to car will have a bearded Bond. For an action scene?! I'm not so sure.

    And $135 million is hardly a shoestring budget so we can stop that talk right now.

    The Sun may have this one 100% wrong.

    i'd rather see hand to hand fighting any day over explosions. Explosions have been so over done in almost every action movie.

    Not to mention it's cheaper

    I'm sure there will be a few 'close shaves' in Bond 23, which is now called 'Live and Gillette Die', or-given the supposed low budget- 'Cubic Zirconias Are Forever'.
    I remember a few odd rumours circulating before 'CR' came out; they lowered expectations (for me, at least) and so made 'CR's excellence a welcome relief. Bond with a beard could appear in a pre-title sequence on some sort of SAS-type mission; that would be my bet.
