Marilyn was first a singer? I never knew that, honestly.

Two I haven't seen mentioned are Tom Waits (Dracula, Domino) and Hong Kong actress Faye Wong.
I feel ashamed not to have thought of Tom Waits :| .

@Berry, unless you have something useful to contribute, I must ask you not to spoil the fun in these threads.

Good call on Sinatra. Bruce Willis deserves a mention as well.

I really thought we meant people who started their careers as singers, and then became actors/actresses. Did Bruce? Maybe he did; I don't know. But I had not heard that.

    Never Singin'in the Rain???

But I believe she was more a dancer than a singer.

He worked on some TV shows before, so forget about him.

    John Travolta?

John was not a singer first; tv show. ;)

I love Doris Day! (as I previously posted) and she was a singer first.

Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights springs to mind. Great movie.
And David Bowie in The Prestige. I really liked his performance in that.

    Shaquille O'Neal

Okay, I can't imagine anyone except myself saw the Shaq as a superhero in Steel, a film loosely set in the Superman universe, but if I can quote Keanu: woow! I'm sure he was/is a great sportsman but his acting abilities are below the freezing point.

OJ should be mentioned in that I have never been able to see any good in his performances after slaughtering of his wife and the mocking of the US justice system. It turns any of his appearances into something that leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

    This is easy:
    Arnold Schwarzenegger
Johnny Weissmuller -- He once said that atheleths should play Tarzan and not actors. He never considered himself an actor and years later bemoaned the fact that "actors" were now playing Tarzan.
James Worthy -- Laker great played a Klingon on Star Trek TNG talk about wooden, cardboard performances.

Hard to choose between Lee, Palance and Oldman. All very different and yet they were all excellent at what they did with the character.
