Damn, what a loss. I've loved Karyo in everything I've ever seen him in, but of course I'll always cherish him for GE. RIP.

Tchéky, people, please. I think condolences for someone's passing should at least use the correct spelling of their name.

Ah no, that’s sad. It was nice to see him play the lead in The Missing on TV, he became well-known here through that. Too young.

I'm sad to hear of the death of Tchéky Karyo. He had a great supporting role as Defence Minister Dimitri Mishkin in GoldenEye.
  • I would have liked Mishkin to have been a recurring character in the franchise . Monsieur Karyo will be greatly missed. Superb as Baptiste also.

Oh that’s a shocker, very sad. He always came across as a really enthusiastic and energetic guy.

    R.I.P. Lee Tamahori.
He never lived up to the standard of 'Once Were Warriors', but have to say I always enjoy 'Mulholland Falls' We won't mention the Bond movie!

    RIP Lee Tamahori :(

Lee's Bond film was my first ever Bond film in theaters and I will always have a special spot for that film in my heart.

    RIP Lee Tamahori

Whilst DAD isn’t the most beloved of the Bond films, it’s still an entry in the series.

Over the years I’ve grown rather fond of it.

Any director of a bond film is a sad loss

To Lee's credit, I'm not sure anyone else could have delivered the DAD we got besides him. I think remember some crazy input behind the scenes from Lee. At least he was invested and delivered.

    R.I.P Mr. Tamahori.

While DAD has become quite the punching bag of the fandom - it’s hard to deny that it’s certainly amongst the most unique entries of the franchise - and quite a fun film to shut your brain off too.

Great way of putting it, and respectful. I was mortified when I first saw DAD. And I still can’t really sit down and watch it in one go, but there’s no doubting what you posted. No matter the faults and no matter my own feelings, this guy didn’t shy away from what he wanted and jumped in with both feet. Yeah, that was a nice way of putting it, LucknFate. Absolutely.

The first half of Die Another Day is some of the best Bond we've gotten this century in my opinion. Lee Tamahori, may he rest in peace.
