It's the coveted "and" credit. It basically amounts to second billing.
Namely that Tiffany had simply been made privy to Bond's discovery of Blofeld masquerading as Willard Whyte. It all fits. Bond and Leiter had clued her in. Presumably they told her about Blofeld's cat too. Remember there was something about Ernst that caught her attention as he strolled throught the casino, aside from looking like a hideous woman. Seems it was the cat. Remember, "look what the cat dragged in." So Tiffany, eager to please Bond and Felix, gave pursuit, presumably just to surveil, only to be found out and shoved into the car by Ernst's henchman.
Did Bond had Alzeheimer's disease? Because I can't believe an experienced agent couldn't remember three or four names...
Perhaps, he was quite old obviously. :D
But perhaps they were just copying GF, but in that movie Bond had a reason, since he tried to get the note to the CIA. In AVTAK Bond must be suffering from impaired memory.
It wasn't an Italian US identity known for its "stainless steel" delis.
"It seems that a delicatessen was a popular mafia commodity back in the roaring 20's and 30's, and the most valuable delis were the ones with stainless steel countertops (easy to clean, thus less bacteria-laden than wooden chopping blocks). Consequently, a "delicatessen in stainless steel" was considered a worthy gift and thus a potent bribe. It is reported that the phrase is attributable to Albert R. Broccoli." I think this is pretty much it. Bond knew that Spectre was in the vicinity due to the helicopter attack. He also had suspicions about the volcano, so he came prepared with full ninja gear under his fishing disguise. The suction cups, I think we are to presume, were fortuitous ninja gear, that came in very handy.
Which begs the question why did the SPECTRE choppers attack Little Nellie for as Bond says seconds before hes attacked 'theres nothing here but volcanoes'? Hes just about to fly off but they put up a banner which reads 'something suspicious going on here.'
Add this error to Ernst spending literally the GDP of a small nation to fund a space programme on a par with what NASA and the Russians were doing at the time and I have to say if I was a SPECTRE shareholder I'd be entitled to ask 'Just what the heck is going on? You can forget your bonus Ernst.'
The idea is to make money isnt it? Surely there were easier ways to provoke a war? How about just dressing two tanks up in Soviet and US livery and have them start lobbing shells over the Berlin Wall?
At least try that and if it doesnt work you can go back to the Chinese and say 'Actually I will need to hollow out that volcano and construct a fully functioning space program after all.'
Utterly mental.
The attack on Little Nellie, ultimately backfired as 007 blew all the enemy helicopters out of the air. But the plan obviously was that the unwelcome scout copter (Bond's) be blown out of the air, and life goes on at the Spectre volcano. However best laid plans.....007 has made a career of foiling supervillains.
What ill gotten gains?
Doctor No was blown to buggery along with the nuclear reactor and toppling equipment presumably funded by SPECTRE.
The Russians never got their Lektor back so presume they didnt cough up for that.
Largo and his expenseively assembled team with his hydrofoil and tons of underwater kit was a shambles and now the most expensive of the lot - YOLT - is another debacle.
For one thing Ernst is no super villain hes an absolute clown and for another just how is SPECTRE funding the volcano and space program? Their last 3 big schemes have gone tits up - they cant still be surviving on their consultancy fee for the great train robbery and squeezing that money out of that Japanese bloke - 'all the man had'!
Well, it was my understanding that it was the Chinese who were bankrolling Spectre in YOLT. ?And let's not forget that Blofeld and Spectre had their hands in a lot of pies, in addition of the four plans Bond smashed, and the ones that were mentioned in TB.
Yeah but would you go to a company with such a track record of failure?
The only plans that seemed to have worked are tinpot little bank jobs and blackmailings as detailed at the meeting in TB. All their big earners have been scuppered by Bond.
And if they had any other sizeable plans we dont know about surely Bond would have been assigned to the case and shafted those as well?
Unless maybe they had one that didnt affect the UK government so Bond never got wind of it? Mind you he doesnt mind poking his nose into cases that dont affect Britain (GF, YOLT, DAF, to name a few).
Perhaps they had a big success when Bond was distracted by GF that got them the respect of the Chinese?
That was perhaps what M and Draco were talking about during Bond's marriage in OHMSS? :D
She either got it from Jill or just followed Goldfinger rather more blatantly than Bond.
But how could she have "followed" Goldfinger?" Last we saw Tilly Masterson she was at a Swiss auto repair shop waiting to have her car towed so she could have new tires installed. Even Bond is concerned with how far away Goldfinger is at that point. And if Jill told her, what does it say about MI6 that an ordinary citizen knows more about an international gold smuggler's base of operations than British Intelligence?
Actually, come to think of it, I suppose Bond might have thought "hum, Goldfinger's going to Switzerland, eh? I wonder if he's going to go to that massive smelting facility he owns there? The one that everyone knows about and is probably listed in the phone book. Just to be sure, I'll use an elaborately staged meeting where I potentially risk loosing £5000 worth of the treasury's bullion to a dangerous criminal, just to plant a homing device on his car. I suppose I could just stay out of sight and plant the homer and then follow him...nah, I'll play golf with him and make sure I really annoy him instead."
And she's still wearing her bikini! You'd think she would have had time to change while Tiger Tanaka was organizing his army of ninjas!
As doubleonothing states Auric Enterprises is probably in the Yellow Pages so doesnt need a genius to find it even if Jill never told her about it.
Bond doesnt know where Goldfinger is going after the golf game so I suppose it makes sense to use the tracker although he doesnt seem to be making any particular effort to hide himself so I dont know quite why Bond has to tail him so closely. Wouldnt a call to station Z to keep an eye on him when he landed have sufficed?
I think you'll find that it happened at a horse racing meeting. The airshow aspect with the barrel rolls was Bond just taking the piss at the end.
Another parachute query - why is Tim still wearing one after landing on the Rock of Gibraltar? Wouldnt he just dump it as soon as he landed as they weigh a ton to lug around. And it seems to be his main chute so are we to assume he pulled his reserve initially or that he was wearing 2 chutes? Either explanation is nonsensical.
She committed suicide because she couldn't bear to be with Bond knowing what she had done to him. She would rather die than face the man she loved, knowing she was a traitor.
Made no sense. Didn't even need to be in the film.
