Plenty of directors better placed to tackle Bond than Spielberg.

I always wonder why he's being mentioned by fans as a potential Bond director.

Id love it to happen but there is no way Mr S will ever direct a Bond film now.Too big a name for the franchise!
    And probably a bit pricey
Bond movies aren't really cheap anyway, they could easily afford to hire him. The question is: would he want to direct a Bond film at this point in his career? Would the Broccolis even want to work with him?

Because he's a big Bond fan and wanted to direct a Bond film back in the 70s. Also, he has worked with Daniel twice in the past.

Exactly, they're not. With the expense of Bond films now as it is, would they really add even more with SS's price tag? It would be a big chunk of the budget that could be used elsewhere.

Spielberg's deal according to what I've read a few times is absolutely insane, like 40% of GROSS, right from 1st dollar (Idea is he brings the stuff in so fast and economically that you're saving on the front end.) Bond producers haven't been willing to share even a fraction of that, and I can't imagine THAT aspect would ever change.

I think Spielberg needs to understand that his name isn't that 'big' anymore. Most of his directly directed films haven't been great box office successes. Moreover, the TV Series he's executive producer from, like sci-fi flicks "Extant" and "Under The Dome", are suffering from disappointing viewing figures.

In any case, maybe he therefore can be slightly easier persuaded to direct a Bond film ;-)?

The series doesn't need Spielberg. It would be great if he came on board but it's not necessary. At the end of the day it seems to me that EoN should focus on prioritising who'll be writing the subsequent installments as evidenced by the fiasco of QoS and the turmoil of SP's preproduction. If the script is garbage no director no matter how talented can give us a great film.

If Mendes is done after SP then fair play to him but what I won't appreciate is longing things out and time being wasted. Either vomit to staying away or come back in good time to get Bond 25 out ideally by 2017 or 2018 at tge very latest.
I just hope if Mendes is serious about not returning then EoN have a list of potential directors they're interested in courting.

Wouldn't we have gotten some kind of information today about a trailer? Like a 3 day notice or something?

I believe Jez Butterworth Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will write bond 25 just a guess

It's coming this week, it has been confirmed by Marketto. Thus, I'll go ahead and confirm that it'll be out before Friday. There you go!

I sure hope Spielberg never gets to direct a Bond film! He'd make it a cheese fest and "Americanize" what is supposed to be a brittish franchise. Good old Cubby seemed to agree.

I think Speilberg is too clever to do that. He understands Bond and wouldn't lose the 'Britishness' of the franchise.

    Thank you.

Also, I doubt Spielberg could do anything worse than YOLT, MR or DAD.

In the ART OF BOND book Spielberg is quoted as saying Jill St John is his favorite Bond girl. That calls EVERYTHING taste- and judgement-wise into question.

She maybe his favourite but that doesn't necessarily mean that he thinks she's the best.

If Mendes goes my top 4 for taking over

    Christopher Nolan -
The guy just does Epic attention grabbing blockbusters so well 1. studio wont be able to afford him and give him the budget he will want to deliver the goods.

    Rowan Joffe -
Screen play for 28 Weeks Later 28
Director on: Before I Go to Sleep, Brighton Rock - Can pull of period as well as modern, there is a gritty element to his style.

David Ayer - Fury, Training Day, Fast and the Furious - This guy writes and directs, he can do story he can do big action.

    My favorite choice

Kenneth Branagh - You be like WHAT?? the actor. yes Kenneth Branagh!
Directed: Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Thor, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Sleuth - Branagh understands good story and as a student of Shakespear he is a bit of a perfectionist. He is British I am sure he would jump at the chance.

The announcement. Marketto said the trailer will be released this week, but not on monday.
Not likely it will be released in the weekend. So tomorrow till Friday remains.
That's why Marketto thinks it will be announced today.

"so lets see if anything happens?" - that is what we are doing for the last couple of months, so, yes, that seems like a good idea to me.
