    I don't think I can watch Crystal Skull again. I actually gave my DVD copy away. The Indy trilogy is perfect, until #5 happens.. then I will be curious.

    I was watching a play through of Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine for Nintendo 64. It looked tough, but I would definitely want it for my N64 library. I consider Infernal Machine and the Emperor's tomb as real movies in the Indy canon.

    ToD was one of the biggest cinema experiences of my youth. My parents thought I waste my money when I wanted to see it a second time. "Why?? You have seen it already!" But I had to watch it again. I guess it's my favorite of the three. But I hadn't seen Raiders until then. Who knows how I would have felt if that would have been my first Indy film :-).

    Well, I saw them all in sequence, and I'll sum it up this way: they all have greatness to them, but Raiders, Crusade & Skull all have the same kind of ending- the 'ummmm..., okay, that was interesting!' ending. Doom is the only one where good triumphs over evil completely in a final battle. Yeah, that's simplistic, but then I like simplicity in my mindless entertainment, I guess. ;)

    I wonder if the delay in making IJ 5 is down to Ford's age. Perhaps Disney regretted the decision announcing another Indiana Jones film but they're stuck with it! I'm sure it will do decent box office but Ford's age will be an easy way to criticize the film. If the film doesn't deliver much, people will say "what did you expect, Ford was too old."

    78 year old Indiana Jones? Anyone?

    This is amazing. I was very skilled with a pencil back in the day, but this is on another level.

    Very nice @talos7. That drawing alone is better than everything in KOTCS ;) And a nice ideia it would be, to get Dr. Jones on Skull Island. Brilliant!

    I haven't seen Crystal Skulls but I always thought a 50s set IJ with a trip to South America should have involved old Nazis who'd fled to Brazil or Argentina.

    Having Soviets as the baddies just not the same.

    For some reason, despite loving Ford as IJ I've always found it very easy to avoid Crystal Skulls. I did catch 5 minutes of it once on a plane or somewhere. It was a really bad CGI sequence of a lake draining from a crater or something. Looked abysmal and confirmed my worst suspicions. The CGI from so much of that era is awful. The SFX from the 70s and 80s stand up so much better.

    It really does. I don't know if it was a transitional thing or if they were trying to cut corners. But the backdrop painting techniques and miniaturisations they used before that rotten CGI stuff from the 90s and early 00s was better and, like you say, it stands up better. CGI like the one from the SW prequels, the Matrix sequels, DUD, the first Harry Potter, The Mummy Returns, ..., is just cringeworthy, to say the least.

    I know this will never happen but I would like to see Spielberg approach the next one as if CGI was not available, or at least minimally for compositing and scale appropriate elements such as fire and water.

    Ford showed up at the dedication to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland last night. His beard reminded me of his Young Indy appearance.

    All this Indy talk has me itching for a trilogy rewatch, I've not seen these films in several years now. I don't have high hopes for the upcoming installment, but at least those initial three were total gold.

    I'm due for a viewing of LAST CRUSADE. Tried to watch TEMPLE a few weeks ago but couldn't get thru it.

    I feel ToD is the Indy movie you really have to be in the mood for. Could watch Raiders any day!
