So, basically, they're going to ignore the events of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad and Justice League. Good to know. And SS will be its own self-contained thing, I gather.

I hope they do keep some aspects of Justice League in future installments, particularly the dynamics between certain characters (ie: Flash and Aquaman). As for Batman, I agree it's best to ignore all events from those films and whoever is chosen as the new Batman iteration can have a fresh start.

Am I the only person who is sad by this news really? I feel Affleck has forever been hated in the role and I just don’t see why? I mean how fast we forget George Clooney...

But at least we got to see Affleck take on KgBeast Joker and who knows maybe someday we get a comic book series or something...

Honestly I don’t know who I would go for maybe Bradley Cooper but he is too old likely and to marvel

The issue here is Batman is 3 roles essentially and I feel Affleck much like bale nailed all three and I prefer Affleck’s voice to Bale’s (sorry his voice was fine in Begins but by the dark knight it’s like get the guy some cough drops or something sheesh)

And of course what’s worse is everyone is cheering this and I feel bad for the guy he really wasn’t that bad...

But moving on if we have to move on and go younger Charlie Cox maybe I believe his daredevil run is over.

I would say Stephen Amell but that would be type casting

I don’t know I am sure whomever it will be it will be someone who wasn’t on my radar and will surprise me much like Affleck did and to be honest Bale did too.

So does this imply that Bruce Wayne has a kid possibly named Bruce Jr that will become the next Batman......or are we simply getting a younger actor to take over the iconic role?
My vote goes to a younger incarnation of Bruce Wayne having a son, who has a friend, who in an alternative universe is Batman :-). The whole Thing of Course set as a period piece.

Not so much ignore as be set before them. It's the same version of the Batman, just when he was younger.

With SS, it'll only be a soft-reboot in the sense that the team members will be swapped out. I'd expect Amanda Waller to turn up again.

I like what I'm reading here.

"It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale …. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that.

He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.

I liked Affleck as Batman, sad to see him go.

Affleck was great in BvS (other than the killing) but something was definitely missing in his JL performance. Bruce is in a different place, but the fire didn't feel like it was there in his performance (not that I blame him).

What does everyone think of the potential of Armie Hammer getting a second chance at the Bat?

Batfleck was great in Batman v Superman, Justice League is a bit of a mess for well documented reasons, Ben looked bored at times and his appearance changed quite noticeably between the Snyder and Whedon directed scenes.

Batman was pretty lame in certain JL scenes unfortunately.

Are we talking about a Batman who might, in the future, interact with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman post BvS? Because if so, we have to consider the continuity demand that our actor is chosen from obvious 45+ candidates.
No they are gonna do separate films which sucks I really wanted Batman and Wonder Woman to hook up. Sorry they make a better couple then Batman and Catwoman or Superman and Wonderwoman...

That being said early rumors indicate it’s gonna be Batman: year one because another Batman origin story is exactly what everyone wants at this rate the Wayne’s have died on screen more times then the body counts of most Hollywood slashers

Reeves shot it down that it was gonna be Batman: Year One. I think Snyder's BvS was the most accurate their murders were and we don't need to revisit it for at least a generation or two.

There are aspects of Year One that have found their way into the script for Batman Begins. There's a perfectly decent animated version of Year One out there too. I'm sure we can do without another adaptation of this story.

Maybe it’s just the parts of the web that I frequent, but I don’t see much hate for Affleck at all. I find people generally liked him as Batman, at least his role in BvS. I certainly did.

I’m not particularly saddened to see him go, I’m just bummed he didn’t get a chance to really make his mark on history the way I believe he deserved. But the way I see it, it’s time to move on.

Technically, Affleck had his three films. ;-)

But I know what you mean, of course.
I wish we could have gotten a Solo-Batfleck. Infinite possibilities there.

Would have liked a live-action Red Hood adaptation with Affleck. A shame.

Yes, ironic. He had as many as Bale, but fewer solo films than West, Kilmer and Clooney.

It's a shame Cavill won't appear though it could be a double bluff

They keep putting them out. I'm still hopeful that the current JL series can pick up some momentum. We've got a great Wonder Woman, Flash, Superman, Aquaman, Cyborg and, pending impressive casting, hopefully, a great Batman too. Some fairly cohesive myth has been built via previous films. There's still potential. Furthermore, a disappointing film doesn't necessarily have to mark the end of a series.

    Examples:
    - X-Men The Last Stand didn't prevent a return to form for the "old" cast in Days Of Future Past and Logan.
    - Captain America TFA evolved into the vastly superior TWS.
    - The first couple of Thor films were disappointing as hell, but then we got Ragnarok.

So, in time, perhaps the Justice League movies can find the proper tone, the proper balance, the proper everything.
