Just for the "James Bond, who has to make love to a woman and she starts to hear heavenly choirs singing". The spite that she throws his attack back in his face is great acting.

Onatopp was always a joke. A silly name to keep those who associate Bond with Austin Powers happy and quite frankly a revolting side to her character where she orgasms when killing. A third rate porn character.

It's been said, but what about Pussy Galore? And lots more. But let me guess, it was ok back then because it wasn't a Brosnan film.

Alot of the members on here seem to think this way- the 60s were perfect, Moore was entertaining, Dalton was good, Brosnan was crap even though his films were only as campy as past films, and Craig is the best since Connery and Bourne ripped him off. And I can't disagree more (at least with most of it).

@actonsteve See, I don't get that. You hate Brosnan, but Moore, and late 60s/early 70s Connery, get passes (even though he was campier and had more one liners, etc), because "back then they were big entertaining films, blah blah blah", why doesn't the same apply to Brosnan?

I like all the Bonds, for me it's Connery was great, Lasenby was ok, Moore was great, Dalton was perfect, Brosnan was amazing and Craig is ok (haven't been blown away by him yet).

In fairness to @actonsteve, most of Moore's films were made by a group of people familiar with their craft. They weren't AS silly as Brosnan became. Even Rog thought DAD went too far.

To be fair, I am taking the piss a little

As I have said I dont hate Brosnan I just think his films went downhill.

GE can be criticised along with everything else

Really? Oh wow, didn't know that was possible. Are you sure? I think it's invincible actually!

As for this round, I vote for Xenia Onatopp. From the greatest Bond movie there is, we bring you the greatest female villain ever to ignite the screen!!

I know, all the Bond films have flaws, even great ones.

Onnatop. Both are great and memorable. Famke played her perfectly - and her character was just right for the film - and she edges Volpe. GE is one of my fav Bond films.

I expect Volpe to win this round as she is the most favorite female villain among our members here I think. But my vote stands. Good matchup, though.

Good points. But you know, that section of Brosnan haters won't change and I am trying to not get sucked into the sour whirlpool of it all. I'm skimming past them more. Their desire to bash him at nearly every opportunity is rather baffling to me but not worth consideration.

I must admit Xenia is kind of cartooney and people who say that she's "what Austin Powers made fun of" are right (you could say the same about Holly Goodhead) BUT I just think Famke plays it very well and, to me, is an extremely memorable villainess - a bit more so than Volpe.

    Fiona Volpe by a mile.

a cold hearted killer and I never tire of looking at her whether she's in that evening dress or those slacks and top during the skeet shooting scene.

Xenia Onatopp by a long shot.

    @OHMSS69, Xenia isn't a cold-hearted killer?

Well TLR, whether you agree or not it seems that there is a consensus regarding the popularity of different eras and actors in the role. We are all not going to agree on different things, but they are just opinions after all and no need to get too upset about it. For example, my personal opinion is that anyone who doesn't think Goldfinger is minimum top 5 is out of their ever loving minds, but that's their taste and there's no reason for me to become confrontational. Some people think MR and DAD are better than the last 2 films, crazy to me, but that's their opinion.

Brosnan's films are not among my favorites, but I enjoy his first two quite a lot and can think of several entries from the Moore and (shudder) the Connery era I find less entertaining. I really respect how much he loved the role and the passion he brought in that regard. He's a good man from everything I've read, and heard. And I like quite a few films he otherwise stars in. On the other hand, I think the other actors save Lazenby did a better job and having lived through all the eras and likely having viewed the films more than many as a result, it's just how I relate to the character.

Anyway, I wish I did not have to vote because I love them both. But Onatopp took Fiona one step farther and I liked that.

Sorry about the double post. someone always want to slam me for this. Lo siento mucho.
As for Xenia's campy name. The series has always had campy female names, I just took it in stride. Pussy Galore, Mary Goodnight, Holly Goodhead.

Fiona Volpe easily. Sexy, amazing body, highly confident, works as part of Blofeld's execution branch and is unequivocally my favourite Bond girl.

I really would love to see these two fight it out with pillows and belts in a wading pool full of olive oil. I also would like to see them use whipped cream and wearing....

    Oh right, right.

I will vote for Fiona for being a better caged animal.

Onatopp for me, although I know who I would rather take to bed (wife is out the room), I think the Janssen character just radiated menace and was an all round nasty piece of work, and although the asphyxiating of men between her thighs was a bit infantile and childish, it was a different idea to include even though I never took to it. I gave her the vote largely on the massacre at the Severnaya facility when she guns down the staff members, almost Zorin like, and has some fun with it, she is clearly enjoying her time, one of the best female adversaries of Bond I can remember

Fiona Volpe by a long, long way. One of my favourite Bond girls, villians, and characters in general.

Fiona Volpe wins it for me. Onatopp was too cartoonish and too Austin Powers for my tastes.
