Given the general quality of Phase 4, I can see why Marvel thought this was a good thing to put in one of their films.

It’s good to see Hugh Jackman is still 35.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3 Trailer 2 (NEW 2023) Super Bowl

I am a big fan of the Guardians films though this trailer does feel like the end of the road for this series. Post Gunn I would be very surprised if any more Guardians films were made.

@Some_Kind_Of_Hero rumors are that the MCU botched M.O.D.O.K., looking at the screen grab of what he looks like in Ant Man 3, I am not that surprised.

The initial reviews for the new Ant-Man aren't particularly favorable. Which I guess is par for the course for Marvel lately but still a shame since the previous two Ant-Man films were both solidly entertaining.

Does Jonathan Majors' arrest mean they may have to change direction?

An arrest is not a finding of guilt; this will have to play out.

Yes this is the DM , but…

As much as I like Liv it feels a bit odd as her Bruce Banner was Ed Norton, I don't think it would have mattered if the role was recast. Plus at this point Hulk has an alien son in the MCU, it seems too late in the day for Rufalo's Bruce for Betty to be around that really should have happened already.

Saying that Liv is probably there to play off the Thunderbolt Ross character, I don't know whether Bruce is in Captain America 4? (I was unable to read the full article above, it was asking me to subscribe)

I happened across the set for the Kraven The Hunter movie today: in the Surrey countryside.

All degrees of de-aging done for Indy aside, he looks remarkable and appears physically vital.

I've been watching him in Shrinking, and it just serves to remind me that he's the greatest movie star alive today.

Has Lashana Lynch been recast? Who is that lady? She's a superhero?
  • edited April 2023 Posts: 5,806
That lady is Monica Rambeau, the daughter of Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch). In the comics, she was the second person to get the name Cpaptain Marvel, and even joined, and led, the Avengers for a time, before chosing another codename, Photon.

As for the movies, well, lets remember that the movie Captain Marvel took places in the '90s. Since then, little Monica grew up. But during the snap, she was erased, and came back five years later, only to learn that her mother had passed away due to cancer. She was involved in the events of the series WandaVision, and that's where she got some super-powers of her own. For the rest, I guess we'll have to watch the movie.

Highly recommend! The best Marvel show (I liked it better than Loki) and actually kind of touching. To me, the ending bookmark to the "good" era of Marvel.

I didn’t have any feelings about THE MARVELS prior, but that trailer was so much fun. Also, I really enjoyed MS MARVEL. Kamala Khan was a very endearing lead.

Can’t express enough how surprised I was by how much GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 moved me. I’m not that high on the first two. They’re fine, but I always felt they were too irreverent to work emotionally. James Gunn got the balance so much better with 3 that it gives me a lot of confidence in how he’ll run DC.

Is it too much of a downer? I really can't do another down cinematic experience right now.

No, not a downer, but there were two scenes that made me cry my eyes out, and quite a few nightmare fuel scenes as well. But don't worry, there's also a good deal of laughter to be had.

I always felt the first two films had the humor and drama wayyyy too disparate in a way that they kind of clashed with each other. With 3, I think James Gunn balanced it perfectly.

Thanks for the feedback. I enjoy 1 and felt very connected to the themes of 2, the latter of which I prefer. So I should definitely check this one out.

My 11 year old son and I really enjoyed it! I thought it had some good laughs and a compelling story. Slow build and then a jam packed ending. I would say the start is the weakest part of the film. Mystery abounds and we aren't sure what the motive is of people. The narrative of Peter seems to get lost within the movie and then picked up again when it's convenient for the story. I would rank it just behind the first one and way ahead of the second.

Stay for the end, two bonus scenes, one of which seems to indicate more adventures will be found!

You know, it's kinda curious to see how the MCU phase 4 constantly decays and rises again, or at least that's what people say.
