What is the extenuating circumstance this time? They've had almost 2 years to find a distributor. I honestly think that Micheal and Barbara are just worn out on Bond. They've both been doing it their entire lives! I think they need new blood. The entire Bond infrastructure has been running for at least a decade without a refresh. Now that the distributor is changing, here's hoping that sets off a chain reaction, and they decide to make changes in other areas.

The distribution deal is primarily an MGM matter though, based on what I remember Wilson saying a few years back.

Precisely, It's not EON's call. They are forced to wait until MGM acts.

I say "they" in this sense meaning "the responsible party".

One would think after all this time EON would free themselves from MGM. And don't tell me they can't because it is only a matter of money. It could have been done long ago.

MGM's share of the Bond rights is what's keeping that studio alive. They need to give them to EON but they can't stay afloat without the rights. That's their trump card. After their Ben Hur remake flopped their desperate.

With what little worth MGM must have, EON could just buy them.

What about Nolan Bond film in summer 2020? Most his films released around that time, and it gives them plenty of time to prepare Nolan's vision.

Interesting question, @Mendes4Lyfe. Given how every Bond film since, well, since many years now, has been released in the winter season, it would be a change if they were aiming for a summer release. Would it be a smart move? I wonder. Tough competition. I don't know. Maybe a Bond film is a constant force, which, regardless of the competition, will draw people to theatres. I remember in '97 how TND did very well despite Titanic doing gangbusters at the BO.

This summer demonstrated that past a few select films, people were burnt out on all the sequels, spin-offs, etc. I'd say keep Bond in that October/November spot.

Well, Photobucket sure has been a jerk to this thread. I guess I'll have to try clean up this mess with Imgur sometime soon.

Well, I've more or less fixed this thread. Results for the current polls are fixed, as are the final results of the old polls which are all cataloged on page one. I'm not bothering with the posts sprinkled throughout the previous 13 pages, as that would be tedious and unnecessary since page one contains all the final totals.

I voted 2019 hoping that it wouldn't end up being even farther off, so I'm happy.

I stayed off that thread of speculation (an announcement any time now....etc etc) But i knew as the months were flying by that it was going to be 2019! But i secretly hoped they were beavering away behind the scenes and were about to declare its starting to film in Jan! Oh well!

    New poll

How would you describe your feelings about the Craig Bond era?

Although I had considered an "Undecided/neutral" option, that would have been essentially useless data, so I purposely left no room for ambiguity here. You must decide which way you lean. I plan on doing a poll for each era, working backward.

    I have voted very positive.
While I have no intentions whatsoever to disparage anything that's come before, the Craig era has consistently supplied material of the highest quality in terms of acting and production value. I've had mixed responses to the stories of the last three films, but if story would serve as the ultimate barometer, many Bond films would suffer tremendously, starting with some of the Connery Bonds. When people knock on the Craig Bonds over their somewhat weaker stories, I often feel like they're forgetting what came before...

I voted somewhat negative. It started off so well, but like his predecessor's run I believe it has collapsed, although this time under the weight of its own pretensions. The production values have been top notch, and the casting too has been very good for the most part (last entry notwithstanding). Craig himself has been serviceable, but I don't rate him as the godsend that some do around here. He's decent enough.

Very positive. Craig's era is the only one where I've enjoyed every film he's done so far.

Unfortunately, SP has taken this era down a notch to somewhat positive. I definitely would've voted very positive pre-SP. Still pleased with the era as a whole though.

Voted very positive, even though technically QoS and SP rank as middling entries. I still like them pretty well though, and CR and SF are amazing to me (#1 and #5 on my ranking). For me, the era is second to the original golden age of Connery's first five plus OHMSS, and it pulled us out of the weakest overall era (poor Brosnan). I'm cautiously optimistic Bond 25 will be a good sendoff film for Craig; hopeful really more than anything else. We will see.
