You might consider posting a new thread in the "Fan Creations" forum. I'm looking forward to reading it!

EDIT: Am I the only one who has so much trouble with the mobile version of the site? It's better than it used to be but I often spend a while typing out what I think is a quite well thought out post then the site glitches or something, it freezes, I refresh and it's posted just a couple of lines of what I wrote. The worst part is that once it's posted, any of the saved drafts are gone, so there's no way to get back what I wrote. I would copy it in case of it happening but when it freezes it won't even let me do that. I guess I'll just have to remember to keep copying it every so often when I'm typing a lengthy post just in case the site breaks on me again.

My laptop is very old and slow, so even at home I browse on mobile more often than not now, and this happens to me all the time. I've mentioned it before I think, so it'd be nice to see a fix. This issue still occurs when I click the full site button too so I think it's just when I'm on my phone in general, mobile site or not. Delete this please anyway mods.

Here's my idea. I know it's a bit "out there" and maybe it sounds like fan fiction but please bear with me. :)

Following a message left by the late M, James Bond decides to "potter off" to Mexico City during the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. There he fights and kills Marco Sciarra, an assassin who was in the country to blow up a stadium. Bond's bravado causes him to get him suspended from duty and complicates the new M, who is pressured by a merger between MI5 and MI6 as the joint Security Committee Max Denbigh (codename C) plans to disavow the 00 section he considers obsolete. With the help of Moneypenny and Q, Bond goes rogue to attend Sciarra's funeral in Rome where he meets Lucia, the late man's widow. After 007 saves her life from two SPECTRE assassins, she tells him about a meeting of the organization which Bond will later infiltrate. There, he learns the organization was behind some recent bombings in Hamburg and Tunisia and hears the nickname of a man marked for dead by the members: "The Pale King", who is residing in Altaussee, Austria. Suddenly, Bond is identified by the organization's leader: Franz Oberhauser, a foster brother he had during his childhood who was presumed dead. Bond escapes and with the aid of Moneypenny using the search function in MI6’s computer records he finds out The Pale King is none other than his old nemesis Mr. White, so he goes to Austria to interrogate him. Disgraced and pursued by SPECTRE because he "disobeyed" the leader, White reveals Bond he's been poisoned by thallium and is trying to stay alive only to protect his daughter Madeleine. After Bond promises to protect her, White tells him where to find her and claims she will take him to L'Americain. White then shoots himself. Bond meets Madeleine at the Hoffler Klinik and, after some resistance and saving her life, she takes him to L'Americain: the hotel where Mr. White and his wife spent their wedding night, in Tangier. There, they discover a secret room with info that Mr. White has been tracking Oberhauser to a place in the middle of the Moroccan desert. At the same time, in London, Denbigh's Nine Eyes project (creating a combined intelligence network between nine countries) is approved and he's in charge of the new committee, leaving M without job and the 00 section out of order. After a romantic dinner on a train and finally terminating Mr. Hinx, the duo is taken to the secret base of Franz Oberhauser. There, he exposes his plan: to control the world's intelligence services through C's Nine Eyes network. While torturing Bond, he credits to himself the deaths of Vesper Lynd and the former M, and all the threats of his previous assignments: "A nice pattern developed. You destroy my world, I destroy yours". Oberhauser reveals the cause of his hate towards James Bond: being cast aside as the "orphan with the blue eyes" got all the attention of his father Hannes. He also reveals to the captive Bond he has a new identity: Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Bond escapes, takes Madeleine to London, and rejoins with M, Q, Monepenny and Tanner, only to be placed in a do-or-die situation in which Blofeld forces a choice: save himself… or save the girl. When the ordeal is over, M arrests Blofeld, and Bond retires from the secret service.

@RareJamesBondFan, I like the story and how you are developing Bond in your treatment, but the plot sounds so familiar. I can't quite place where I've seen it, though..

    Guys, I need your help.

I'm doing some research on some famous public road rally's: The Gumball 3000, The GoldRush Rally and The Dustball Rally.

I am trying to find....what these rally's are actually about. I know the participants of these rally's are mostly upper-class millionaires. They usually drive big expensive GT's, like Aston Martin's, Bentley's, Koeniggeggs and Ferrari's. Entranace fees for these rally's usually exceed $120,000 or more.

But I can't really find ane 'rules of the game'. Is there a maximum time? Are there pitstops in which every team need to get their 'punchcards' punched? Is it about being the fastest? And do teams have to do...trivia exercises?

Can someone please help me? I need it for my story treatment.

I was thinking about what could be a great sub plot for a Bond film. I am not so interested in spefic characters and dialouges or returns from the past and who is killed by Bond but what could actually be a modern but interesting sub plot. Yesterday I saw a quiet OTT film on German TV about artificial intelligence and even though the film was not good in any category I really enjoyed the overall topic and I wondered wheather this could actually be a great sub plot for a next Bond film. What do you think about it?

The rallies seem very flexible in how they are ruled over, so it gives you a lot of places to "fill in the blanks" with your own ideas where you need to, including the cars involved, the route the people are traveling, what the prize is, and on and on.

Bond will need a rally partner, as two make a team, so it's also a great opportunity to write a cool ally into the story that will aid him during the contest as his navigator, whether it's a Mathis or Kerim type man or a Bond girl. I'd personally make M or Moneypenny his teammate, just to piss other people off. ;)

Mine is named Galatea Brand, former British Formula One test driver, and she's lesbian. You can describe her as having a heavy farmgirl/West Country-accent. She's Bond's co-driver and is the younger variant of Judi Dench in many ways: "You fucking twat! You just don't get it do you!? Just keep your dick in your pants and let's win this race. There's more at stake than your hormones" :-):

The gumball rally type things are regarded as a little chavvy even though the cars and fees involved are high.
The struggle is always to find a backdrop/context for Bond which is both high class, tense, high stakes and exciting (surely why the casino is such a popular choice.
Bond is running out of these backdrops as they are being used up. One thought was the air racing at Reno. Its very well known in the USA (good for their box office), its highly dangerous, highly expensive and would make superb cinema.
It also has the added twist that people gamble on the results and cheating has been a rumour for years (the villain cheating to win is a constant Bond theme),
I am not saying that Bond could fly one of these but the backdrop for Bond to meet the villain or foil a cheating plan - sabotage, would offer something amazing re the images, sound etc plus the prop visuals harks back to the forties/fifties so its a modern event with historic references. Check the vid from 4mins on and imagine how amazing it could look on the big screen.

how about the villain cutting the hydraulics of the favourite so his undercarriege cant lower so Bond and a n other jump in the Aston (or whatever) and save the day.

Here is an idea I've been toying with for a PTS

Bond, obviously on a mission; is breaking into a heavily guarded facility. After nearly being discovered on several occasions he comes to a secured metal door. Using one of Q's gadgets he opens it's complex locks. Standing silhouetted be commands "let's go".
A figure sits up on the bed and with an amused yet indignant tone says James, you're late, but I knew you would come; you rarely disappoint. Bond stares coldly as the scared face comes into the light. Blofeld extends his hand in a direction outside of his cell. "Shall we"? Cue title song.

@RareJamesBondFan, I assume this forum's thread pages are your first priorities to print off? After all, our membership represents the best the internet has to offer and our insights on all things-especially Bond-are essentially at Nostradamus-like levels.

Best the best of the internet may not be saying much, but still.

    That's brilliant. :))
  • Not so much a stort idea, but I'd like to see ISIS and their ilk take a role similar to the Soviets in the old Bond films (but a lot less friendly and gentlemanly). Not the main antagonists but they're around and you get the sense that Bond spends a lot of time off screen dealing with them.

Also, I think the main flaw of the Craig era is that despite how continuity heavy it is, the world Bond inhabits feels very inconsistent. What was cool about the Connery-Dalton eras (and Brosnan too, to a lesser extent) was that there wasn't much continuity but there was world building in the form of recurring antagonists, allies, etc, in different stories, as well as more consistency with stuff like set design. I think a large part of that is also what we see going on away from Bond. In the Mendes films in particular the narrative has pretty much followed him from point A to point B. Whereas in the older ones we saw the Soviets meeting and discussing things, we saw SPECTRE's meetings without Bond being there. It just made the universe feel much more lived in and alive and I'd like that feeling back.

As for an actual story idea, I know most want a straightforward mission but I've always thought that learning more about Bond's military career would be cool (in my head, for the modern Bond, he joined up as an officer, excelled and eventually became a commander at a surprisingly young age, but being a natural thrillseeker decided to put himself forward for SBS selection: it was unusual but he got in and excelled, served with them for a couple of years before being snatched up by MI6). A mission that ties into something that happened in the past.

I don't think I would like ISIS to make an appearance in a Bond film, at all. They are barbarians in the middle of a wrecked rat-hole or some unheard-of desert. I'd rather special forces militant combat squads deal with that kind of stuff than see Bond engage his world of espionage with those.

With the Soviets it was different. It was a rival government power. This is just a blue collar terrorist organization. The lowest of the blue collar, at that! Bond's villains and his world should stay white collar.
  • People know that I am a big defender of a 'Formula 1'-style Bond film ;-) (see my opening post). Now have a look at this, and be astonished. Wouldn't this be terrific action for a Bond film?:

Watching Spectre again. A possible plot twist if Bond 25 to continue on from Spectre.

Mr White confirms to Bond his wife left years ago.

Mr White when talking about Oberhausers location states, "He's everywhere ! He's at a bar with your friends, he's having dinner with your kids, he's in bed with your wife" this is said with anger, as if this is what Oberhauser has done to him personally.

Whites home was on the lakes of Italy at the end of Casino. Lucia being Italian it is entirely plausible Lucia could be Swann's mother and Whites Ex wife, who choose to remain in the safety of Spectre rather than risk her life by leaving like White.

Swann also says some harsh words about her relationship with her father. But it's not possible to tell if her words are in anger at the man he was or the coward he had become.
