If these are true then it’s time for EON to sell. Things have to be spiced up in the Bond series every so often.

the grass isn't always greener my friend..

you may want them to sell - but it could end up in the hands of a producer(s) who would turn it into a complete shit show.. EON is doing fine...

Exactly! That is my biggest concern. I truly believe that the chance of a different producer attempting to reinvent Bond by doing their own thing is far more likely than someone continuing Eon's legacy.
By doing their own thing I'm picturing a generic action picture most likely just called 'James Bond". A film devoid of iconic elements one might deem as irrelevant: :gunbarrel, PTS, titles, theme song, etc.
Most blockbusters today save all titles to the end, lack in memorable melodic scores, have an extraordinary amount of CGI and cast either current A-listers, or generic actors as their leads....unless it's a flavor of the month who is often miscast. Seth Rogen as The Green Hornet for instance. Ben Affleck as both The Daredevil and Batman is a prime example of an A-lister cast.
Damn, and to think in 1977 the Salkinds were considering Robert Redford or Clint Eastwood as Superman. Today that type of scenario is a reality.

007 needs to stand out from the rest as he always has. He needs to remain Bond.

If EON did ever sell, I seriously doubt any new films would not include gunbarrel, PTS, theme song, etc.

It's like Disney buying the Star Wars franchise and then not including the John Williams theme, the infamous opening logo and 3D text roll. Some things are part of the legacy of a franchise, and are protected for fear of losing a huge established fan base.
Absolutely correct. One should really be concerned about the opposite if someone buys the franchise, e.g. too much reliance on tropes and obvious film Bond'isms. It's unlikely to be as overdone as it was during the Brosnan era however. As long as it goes to the right owners, there will be nothing to worry about.

They've been working on this for some time. It's unsurprising and expect far more consolidation soon. MGM is on its way out either after B25 or after B26. Guaranteed.

Fox has the 007 home video distribution deal through mid-2020.

But the broader effect is this could spur additional deals and further consolidation. So perhaps MGM gets gobbled up.

Removing the gun barrel from CR just about made some kind of warped sense. Leaving it out for two further films was totally idiotic

    That sums it up nicely.

@AlexanderWaverly So why would Deadline make it seem like the 20th Century Fox home distribution agreement would expire prior to the release of B25?
Those producers might put faith in Annapurna in domestic, but not beyond that in a company that has to build offshore distribution and ancillary operations from the ground up. There are still major decisions to be made on both international distribution and ancillary distribution, the latter of which long had been administered by Fox in a deal that is expiring.

I wonder if US antitrust laws could ever be used against Disney. They really are nearing monopoly territory.

I'm sure that there would be special pay-offs to stop that from happening against this 'all American' company.

It is very deprest news. Disney is from the not local and bigger ones one of worse for bonusmaterial and sometimes not even release movie on BD/Dvd. There are even more expensive thrn Fox. There discriminate between country,'s. Not sharing enough..

Cars 2 get the bonus disc in France with sleeve, in NL don't. With Cars 3 the bonusb disc but no sleeve and very expensive. 29''99 - 34,'99. Finding Dory only 2D bonus disc only at one store and only in preorder time. All the extras also can have been on one disc with movie. Potc5 almoost nothing and potc6 only because the movies screentime.

Fox whyl dropping the sleeves, on this moment moost of time we get stil a nice part of extras with none animated movies. Moost of time there is enough or re-release it.

Also some other studios are infect it. UNIVERSAL for example. Stil not have Jurassic World.

Fox whas already dropt for Bond. I rather like to have Warner then Disney.

I only own Ant-Man in 3d version because of luck possible mis priced. Extras in this be oke. Stil missinga sleeve and don't understand why it have 3 rank logos with stupid All for Belgium (whyle nl it be 12) and France be credit first.

I wonder if this Disney-Fox merger was the reason James Cameron kept delaying Avatar 2 over and over again. Perhaps he was in-the-know for a while already.

I got the 2020 date from another Deadline story when the latest extension was announced.:

    http://deadline.com/2016/06/mgm-fox-home-entertainment-deal-james-bond-rocky-1201780139/

MGM and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have renewed their existing worldwide agreement through June 2020, the companies said today. Fox will continue to handle marketing and distribution services for Blu-ray and DVD, and manage the operations and marketing of Digital HD and transactional VOD for MGM’s film library. Titles included in the deal are MGM’s James Bond movies, the Rocky franchise and discs for History’s Vikings. The latest deal extends the partnership that began in 1999.
  • Also, here's the original press release where it's stated the Fox home video agreement lasts through June 2020.

Or rather Mendes idea of an all out action scene for about a reasonable two million bucks.

Right as it crosses the road, a dozen semi trucks barrel through and try to dodge the tumbleweed, spiraling out of control before they all jackknife off the road and detonate in unison to the tune of a cool $10 million price tag.

    And that's just the PTS.

Hahaha, reminds me of the Honest Trailers' guy describing Mendes' high octane action scene before ridiculing Skyfall. The bit I'm referring to is at 0:20.
