Bond can't move over to the other side to throw the guy over because there isn't a balcony on the other side. I think the image above is after Bond has moved closer.
I think @MadeleineSwann is right on this one.

I think the image above is before some people standing up, and before the Hinx incident. And well, if some you wonder who the guy at the center of the image here, I think many in the audience will feel the same. It would be weird to have it an unknown, direction wise. Also I don't see any Hinx on the image, and he's supposed to be away from Oberhauser. We'll see.

It could also be an image just for the trailer, just like Oberhauser's line.

Oberhauser's line wasn't just for the trailer...

Here's a question for everyone who's actually read the script: How would you compare Spectre to Casino Royale and Skyfall?

A non-spoiler way of putting it: It's an attempt to do a "classic" Bond adventure while retaining the style of the earlier Craig films.

    Which sounds deliciously terrific.

My big concern with the plot for SP is that we will have SF2. I think Bond needs to remain an enigma so I don't like a plot with lots of emphasis on Bond's childhood and any drama associated with it. That is always my fear about Mendes who is a drama guy. That's why I've been happy to see what appears to be an extensive amount of action sequences. I was also unhappy with the almost totally lack of Bond/Bond Girl story line in SF and QOS. So the outline that I read lead me to think SP's plot would correct these two major issues that I wasn't happy about in SF. Am I on the wrong track here? Hope not.

I don't want to spoil or anything (ive read the script), but just to alleviate your concerns,
I did not get a SF2 feeling at all from it, there isn't really too much about his childhood, and there is a great bond girl role, like comparable to vesper and tracy.
Whether these things translate onto the screen is another matter, although there is a very capable team

    Thanks @Ottofuse8

This increases my optimism that SP will be the film I hope it will be. Lots of talent involved, and tons of potential.

Oberhauser's line wasn't just for the trailer...

Yes it is. The line in the script has "Stranger" instead of "James", and he reveals he knows Bond is here only at the very, very end of the scene in a dramatic manner, before Bond escapes. It's unlikely IMO they rewrote everything so that Oberhauser talks about Bond a bit earlier.
A non-spoiler way of putting it: It's an attempt to do a "classic" Bond adventure while retaining the style of the earlier Craig films.

I'm afraid this non-spoiler way miss the "it's personal once again" aspect of it.

I honestly have a lot of confidence in this film, and am very excited for it. For me, although it is a great film, SF feels like a sort of "first go" at it for Mendes, while from the material we have so far I get the feeling that his experience with bond is really going to shine now, and he's going to be able to do a lot more.

SP has everything going for it. Potentially this could be one of my favorite Bond movies. . I know the story and have read the script. I know why and where, but not how. So it's up to unknown factors like the score, the cinematography and Waltz.
  • "It's personal once again" is part of the style of the earlier Craig films, is it not?

Yes but with the end scene of SF, a lot of fans thinks the "classic mission" is back for sure. The return of Dench will surprise many IMO (except that I think it will be all over the media a few weeks before the release). So even when you say it's the same style, how can someone figure this out ? I guess it's impossible to actually talk about spoilers in a non-spoiler way !

If the M as a traitor script had been kept, I really wonder how long the spoilers would have last. It would have twisted the meaning of several scenes of SF, one would have had to wait one year before "really" discussing SF then !

My original comment was it was an attempt to do a "classic" Bond movie while retaining the style of the Craig films. I still think it's a perfectly accurate description.

Meanwhile, now that WikiLeaks has set up a searchable database of the Sony documents, others -- if they are so inclined -- can search SPECTRE-related material and see for themselves.

Daniel Craig lost $5m on product placement deal

Sony's electronics division were keen to have one of their phones - the forthcoming Sony Xperia Z4 - featured in the new Bond film, SPECTRE.

The sticking point was that the film's executive producer, Barbra Broccoli, was demanding a placement fee. So Sony's marketing chief George Lyon came up with a plan.
Noting that $5m (£3.3m) had already been earmarked to pay Daniel Craig for pictures of him using the phone, he suggested: "What if we take the Daniel Craig fee and convince Sony just to pay Barbara directly $4m for a placement fee?

"No Daniel this time. We walk from him. The remaining $1m (or LESS!) of this budget can be used to hire 'Q' instead?"

The documents do not disclose how this tactic played out.

So London City Hall filming this weekend - CNS (where scene 71 in the Dec script is set) or new location for Nine Eyes meeting?

    It's C's office

Yeah, I think so too @JCRendle. I know the script won't be followed exactly but in the script it says that you can see the old MI6 building from C's office but City Hall and the SIS building are nowhere near each other.

I'm guessing if this is still the case, they'll add the MI6 building in post.

    I believe MS is correct

Only reason I ask is because of the meeting room/debating chamber in the City Hall that I saw a photo of in one of the other threads which matches up with the clapperboard?

But yeah using the City Hall as the CNS makes sense.

Yes, I was also confused with that matter but for sure they are suing the City Hall as the CNS.

According to the leaks, Jez Butterworth was responsible for the majority of the improvements in the first two acts of the screenplay, whilst P&W concentrated on the last act.

This is the reason I feel the first bit of news regarding bond 25 is the announcement that purvis Wade and butterworth will write it

It's an interesting read, now that the information is searchable.

It was quite fun to read totally random stuff when it was released as it was first :)

Now I wonder how many will resist.

However, the pdf files are not searchable. You still have to know where to look if you want to know what the producers think of the "Bond fans" :)

Ps : Mods, now that one can read the leaks without actually downloading anything, what's the status with respect to the discussion about them here ? Now one only has to type "Bond clown" on the form of Wikileaks to try to find out if at one time they thought about doing an Octopussy tribute in SPECTRE. There are many interesting things we have right now, instead of waiting a few years for an author to write them in some book...

Also for mods who are answering questions can we start a bond 25 speculation thread for those who know what happens in spectre.

With several months ahead of next to zero info (when everything left is work in Pinewood), and several weeks of debate available at the tips of the fingers, now, the situation has to be clarified IMO. And well, you just have to write "Search "Ugly Lesbian", what do you think ?", and everyone here understand...

And you know that, if the leaks thread are full of very obsolete ideas (like Blofeld being an "ugly lesbian" played by Tilda Swindon or Meryl Streep, etc, etc), then I think that somehow there will be less fear this thread will itself leak on other threads with big damage results.

So far, except for Gustav Graves' behaviour with the Madeleine is White's daughter spoiler on the Production thread, everyone has been quite neat with respect to that. But on the other hand, the DB5 being back in SP became a "non-spoiler" just because of one paparazzi photo, it shows that the line is thin between what is allowed and what is not...

There is also a question of what would be allowed post Spectre's release like can we talk about old obsolete ideas.

or if there was emails from wikileaks referring to possibly working with Chris Nolan on bond 25 (I don't think their are but I haven't combed through ever email nor would I Ever do such a thing) could that be discussed in terms of the next one?

The DB5 became non-spoiler because of a tweet from Sony.

What I got from that tweet was that Aston Martin was returning, not necessarily the DB5
  • Anyhow, to all those who know about all the cuts and changes that have been done in SP at the request of Sony and MGM (for instance the Hinx fight has been downscaled a lot it seems), you have the opportunity to read why Sony can't afford big budgets, and be more tolerant with them.. Search "Our world has changed"...
