    She was in fact called Kaja. Otherwise the change of the name, the carracter doesn't seem changed so much throught the writting process (Clinic, L'américain, Bond goes with her at the end, etc...). But there is a moment, Bond and Kaja pretended to be married.

    @moneyofpropre2, did Bond and the woman pretend to be a couple while getting the hotel room booked in Tangiers? It'd be a nice unconscious callback to QoS if so.

    Yep, this scene happen in Tanger in fact. (Also Bond pretend also to be married with the other Bond girl, Charlotte, at one moment of the story).

    I wouldn't be surprised if Kaja was Madeleine's birth name, which would hold true judging by White's real name, but she changed it later in life to help hide away.

    Hmm...If we can suppose that White was born in Austria and given a German name, I guess it wouldn't be too much of a leap to think that Madeleine was born when he and his wife were on holiday in a Danish or Norwegian region, and they gave her the name of Kaja to fit the location.

    I at least think it's pretty fair to assume that she's changed her name at least once or twice by the time Bond finds her.
