    I agree but have to remind myself that I'm 54; how a potential Bond dresses in his private life may often seem questionable Even Craig's attire is often more casual than some would like to see.
    It's said that Cary Grant became "Cary Grant" over time; the same may have to be true for the next generation's Bond.

    It's not what they wear: Sean Connery was James Bond in a Speedo in TB or battered clothes in DN. It's the demeanor and overall presence we are skeptical about. Turner looks good in a tux, sure. And maybe he can grow into Bond. But judging by his performance I'm not convinced.

    The criteria these days (based on posts in this thread) seems to be looking good in a suit and looking good in your underpants. I recommend a more comprehensive search criteria, which I'm sure EON are doing.

    Turner is a perfect mix between Brosnan and Connery. It's fantastic.

    Indeed. That's the third one. We can blame the SF PTS (just like we can blame CR for the underpant thing) for that. Soon they'll be straightening their ties at award shows too.

    True, but was Connery as refined prior to Bond? By all accounts he was mentored, and his image molded by Terrence Young.

    I'm not sure if Turner is in Brosnan's league to be honest. I'll have to see more of him.

    If we find the man who can do all that... He's the new Bond. And I say man not actor. Because you know... Robbie Williams could've been Bond.

    Turner's body of work is already impressive enough. Craig at this point had nothing but Tomb Raider and a short appearance in Elizabeth.
    Layer Cake was his ticket to Bond. And just look at Craig's pictures before Layer Cake.
    Nobody with a sane mind would have wanted him as Bond then.

    Aidan Turner on the other hand already has the looks (if still a tad too young), he is an accomplished actor on TV since a decade. Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan were not any different in that regard.

    So any criticism Turner wouldn't work on the big screen or he looks too young or isn't a good actor is pretty ridiculous.

    Tell me then, who would be a better choice?? Jamie freaking Bell?

    *For the record, my No 1 contender for Bond has been Dan Stevens for many years and still is by the way. Sadly it'll never happen.

    @BondJasonBond006 Daniel Craig also played in Road to Perdition and Our Friends in the North. Roles that did not make him famous but that showed his skills as an actor. Heck I was skeptical when he was cast but I remembered him from Elizabeth and I knew he could act and had presence. In The Hobbit Turner was a non entity!

    This is why it's really hard to have a genuine discussion about Craig's abilities. A lot of people have neither seen, nor have any inclination to see his work. It's why I mentioned Logan Lucky as an example people should check out - I know none of you are going to source stuff like 'Our Friends in the North', but you can drop a fiver for that when it's released. I saw 18 mins of it at the weekend and Craig is superb.

    I'm sure fellow members will also agree that he is an incredible stage actor. To master both is something very few actors pull off.

    For the record, I don't feel you need to be a particularly brilliant actor to be Bond, but he is, and we've been treated to some outstanding moments during his tenure. Roger is my favourite Bond, but it's laughable to denegrate what Craig brought to this role. Some of you need to disconnect from your agendas

    DC had quite some Films under his belt, like Some Voices, Infamous, that got him an Indie Award nom, The Mother, Enduring Love, Copenhagen, The Trench to name some of the best plus ICE House and Sword of Honour for TV. To compare Turner to him just Shows how desperate our boy Mendes is. Its ridiculous. Plus several Awards and Nods before Layer Cake

    Personally I think the American Academy should have at least nominated Craig for CR (I think BAFTA did nominate his work in the film); he took a character that everyone thinks they know, and gave us something charming, fresh, unique and original.

    Fresh, yes, and even effective. I don't know about the uniqueness or even the originality, though, as his character seemed like a cliche of all the post-9/11 gun-totting protagonists from the action genre. And charming he certainly was not, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. He was definitely the blunt instrument.

    Just to be clear, I would never, at this point, put Turner in Connery's league by I do think he has what it takes to become Bond. The script and director will be important for whom ever is chosen;
    if Martin Campbell still has the hunger, he would be the man to do it.

    Craig's Bond Charming? If an overgrown teenage wrecking ball is charming. As for fresh, unique and original.... I almost belie that. But I have seen the Bourne films, which the Craig era was so obviously piggybacking on, not just the films, but the lead character too. Spectre was a stumble in the right direction, but I think it might be too little too late.

    Just watch Moonraker and then QOS.
    Or Thunderball and then Casino Royale.
    Or GoldenEye and then Skyfall.

    The evidence is there for everyone to see if they choose to.

    It's all a matter of taste though, naturally. I prefer the first 40 years over what has been dished up since 2006. Casino Royale is great and will be a classic like GoldenEye, but it ages now, it'll have its fans always as any of the true classics of each actor have, GF TSWLM GE.

    SPECTRE was a step in the right direction and I hope EON gives us a fifth with Craig that is like it.
    Spectre is a film that could have been made by Cubby. The first completely proper James Bond film since 2002.
