Hiddleston was great in The Night Manager.

Fair enough. I just see Turner as a bit bland. An ok TV actor. But yes before The Night Manager I didn't see Hiddleston as Bond...that changed my view....a bit like Craig in Layer Cake did.

I must admit as well,Hiddleston really surprised me in 'The Night Manager' and as it went further on he was very Bondlike and was good in the fight scenes.

Its still Hiddleston,Fassbender or especially Hardy for me , after his total Bondlike performance in Inception (If you haven't seen him in that, then watch it - he has the voice, the moves, the gun-skills and fights brilliantly).

Personally I feel Craig is just an amalgam of Dalton and Lazenby. I'm not convinced he brought anything new to the role, but it just so happens that the 2 actors he took from happened to be way ahead of their time, so it feels fresh and contemporary. Brosnan, by contrast, was pinching from 2 highly successful and timely tenures.

What does that even mean? Way ahead of their time in what way?

In 1962 Sean Connery turned the action hero on it's head and replaced the well bred, polite British hero with a rugged 'shoot now talk later' killer. He was immediately sensational. He was ahead of his time, but made an immediate impact.

Calling Dalton ahead of his time is no excuse for the fact he made no real immediate impact as Bond.

Tom Hardy could easily be 007 for me :

As a member of the fairer sex, of the two candidates you mentioned which has the most sex appeal for you? Considering that the majority of movie goers are female this is probably an important consideration!

And he's too thuggish for Bond. It would be nice if the thuggish Bond could be left behind in the Craig era.

I don't see Craig as thuggish. He's actually has English charm as Bond. He comes across as more common in real life though.

That's what I always said about him. If you need a Bond, you need someone of this look:

    8gkBxG3.jpg

Someone who has class, masculinity, ruggedness and sophistication at the same time.

None of these candidates have these qualities.

@suavejmf - There's also the blue collar side of his Bond. And charm isn't something I associate with Craigs Bond.

@ClarkDevlin - I can't wait to read Hammerhead. Hopefully some issues will appear under my christmas tree on christmas day.

He's 5'9" and Craig is 5'10" so i dont see that being a problem, and as regard to his ruggedness,he is not like that in Inception.

I like Hardy too. Hardy has the acting chops and the presence.

The downside for me is well ok Hardy is shorter for Bond and appearance wise maybe too brutish.

BUT I can still see Hardy as Bond.

Really though we are back to square one. We need some sort of mutant Hardy Hiddleston Bond with a touch of Turner to appease @Mendes4Lyfe.

    Yes he's ok.

It's quite important that each actor reinvent the character to avoid staleness setting in.

True. But in trying to get so far away from what went before, to be different, at what point is it so different that it is no longer Bond?
