If I find some more names I'll post 'em! ;;) No soap actors, right? I'll remember that.

Just kidding @fanbond123. Soap actors are fine with me as long as they've done some other work of a more robust nature too.

I think once everyone sees Aidan with the PPK, they will instantly be won over.

I don't think it would even take that long.

I think you all are being a bit too harsh just to piss off the fella. I'd be okay if Turner becomes Bond. What I've seen of him in And Then There Were None, did show a powerful performance out of him.

Sure the guy looks fine with straight hair and a tux but he's just not doing it for me.

Same as with the people who hate Pierce Brosnan. Luckily for me, I don't speak kids language.

It's not a 'powerful' performance and nothing about it is even mildly remarkable. That's not to say it's bad, but let's not start lathering up the hyperbole again.

I was at Sir Roger's show this afternoon and, during the Q&A session, a lady asked him who he thinks should be the next Bond. He replied that he'd want Daniel Craig to do a last one because he loves what he's doing with the role.

But the lady insisted, asking "What if he doesn't?", to which Sir Rog answered "If he doesn't, I think Aidan Turner is very good. And Tom Hiddleston... But, [whoever gets it], the only thing they have to do is say 'My name is Bond. James Bond.' [laughs]".

    Exactly. Sir Rog gets it.
  • Ah c'mon... I wasn't that serious about DC... :-))
No honestly, I couldn't find an original candidate, and didn't want to start discussing Fassbender and Cavill right away !!
OK folks... let's start with......... Simon BAKER from The Mentalist.

I LIKE Simon Baker! Ok with me,
but is it going to be the guy from "The Night Manager?" (OK too)

  • Please, enough Daniel Craig. He has seemed more like a Bond villain than Bond to me, and I don't understand the plots after Casino Royale, which was great!

Baker would not be in my top 100 of candidates; come to think of it there is no number high enough. I don't see him in the role.

He would definitely be in the top two billion.

I posted that message about Simon Baker 5 years ago. Thanks for the blast from the past!

Roger is a charmer who tries to avoid offending anyone. He knows there is more to it than saying the words. People underestimate how good Roger Moore himself actually was.

As for Turner, seriously, he won't ever be Bond. Craig will stay on for another, and the next guy will be as big a surprise as Craig was. Nothing against Turner, but untried big screen actors will give Eon cold feet.

In the 60s and 70s Bond was on its own and they were able to take a chance on an unknown (Lazenby) and a TV star (Moore). These days there is too much at stake. Turner has been a sensation on TV, but this is a different thing altogether. Can he carry a multi million dollar film? My guess is no.

But of course that is only my guess.

Again for Turner fans I could see him as a rebooted Duncan McLeod or Connor McLeod in a highlander series reboot but as bond I dunno...

What about Ewan Mcgreggor sure he is 45 now but he still looks very good for his age and for two to three films I think he could be fine. Thoughts?

Not for me,he doesn't have that 'Bond' look or aura about him.

Ewan is a bit slight (in every way) for Bond. Even Pierce totally blew him away charismatically in 'Ghost' or 'Ghost Writer'.

Who Turner or Mcgreggor or both?

Both to be honest @risico007 but if I had to choose one,i would choose Turner over McGregor....

I think people are still looking at it like "Well, Turner wouldn't make a good Craig type Bond" and I agree with them, but every new Bond is drastically different to the one before. We have no idea what direction they will take Bond next, but if pointers from wider culture hold true, it will be a more irreverent direction. The next Bond won't be anything like the emotional bruiser type, so a slimmer, younger Bond makes sense. I say younger, because as a society we tend to associate cheekiness and mischief with youth, something we grow out of. That is why I like Turner. He can keep that edge that has been established, but mix some of the more playful aspects of Bond that have been forgotten about. Not in a, "let's bring back 70's camp!" sense, in a wholly modern and contemporary way. It's a great time to be a Bond fan! :D

I'm very glad Ewan McGregor didn't become Bond. He's an overrated actor.
