  Notice what's especially cool about the shots of Connery and Blackman? It appears he was filming the laser table sequence at the time as it shows the white marks that appear on his black undercover clothes from the Aston Martin crash.

  I haven't read them. There is only one review on Amazon for the Definitive Story of YOLT, and it says no photographs and boring.
  
  Shame really, because this is my favourite Bond film, so a good book about the making of YOLT would be right up my street.
  
  The second book fairs better on Amazon, with a few reviews offering 5 stars. I would be interested in that one.

  Sean Connery is the only Bond actor to portray someone from my hometown.

  To be fair, I doubt anyone wanted to hear Sean Connery speak in a Russian or Norwegian accent. I think accents have more to do with impersonations than genuine acting. They're showy displays of technique.

  Sean Connery's James Bond is one of the definitive action heroes, ever. Its impossible to underestimate how much influence he's had in pop culture, and in literature as well. Five of his seven performances set the template for how Bond should be, and even in YOLT and DAF, where his interest was non-existent, he prevailed with his natural charisma and professional demeanour. He's that good.
  
  And only Connery could get away with it with winking at the camera at the end of NSNA. Only Connery, only James Bond.

  As the producers said, Connery moves well on the screen. Much as John Wayne or Robert Mitchum had a trademark way of walking that contributed to their charisma, Connery developed a distinctive panther-like walk for Bond. He’d taken movement lessons, along with guidance from Terence Young, and the Clark Gable confidence with which he moves across the casino in his introductory scene as DN embodies Fleming’s description of Bond as a tough customer; a man with an air of danger about him; a man who stands out in polite English society.
  
  To further emphasise this difference, we have that character (I like to think his name’s Peregrine Carruthers) who turns up at the casino and says: “I’m looking for Mr James Bond” in almost comically strangulated English tones, in stark contrast to Connery’s cultured yet classless delivery.
  
  (And am I right in recalling that Craig imitated the Connery/Bond walk at one point in CR as a kind of tribute?)

  I’m not sure about the Craig tribute. It may be so.
  As for Connery’s walk, just compare it with the almost self conscious way Dalton and Brosnan walked into the casino. Connery was natural and you could imagine every head turning to watch him. The latter two seemed to be saying ‘please look at me don’t I look a tough mother?’

  Watching Hell Drivers 1957 a film I have not watched previously, a very young Sir Sean has a supporting role, he appears a few times in the trailer.
  
  The film has an impressive cast which includes Sid James, Patrick Mcgoohan, Stanley Baker, Herbert Lom, Gordon Jackson, David Mcallum and William Hartnell.
  
  Excellent movie I will certainly be buying this gem.
