Bond 25 (and Beyond) directors you consider. This can be directors, second Unit Director or D.O.P.

  • There is also a decent amount of Bond connection, she directed Pierce Brosnan in Love is all you need. She is also really good friends with both Ulrich Thompson from TWINE and Mads from CR - which has surely got to help. I also think a female director could help counter some of the points made about Bond as a character in the current "woke" climate. I think if the relationships he had were grounded more and better developed then it would make for a better movie. Bond could be more sensual and the ladies less disposable. Returning Madeleine Swann with more character development and better emotional continuity could also help. Lea is a great actress and I think there's more she could do given the right script and story - though I imagine it's a bit of a downer for Craig's era if they decided to go all OHMSS.

I agree with everything you said. I would also like to see Blofeld and Hinx back, as she could give them something more for their actors.

Lynn Ramsey is an awful director and shouldn’t be let anywhere near bond. I would borderline not watch the film

We Need To Talk About Kevin says otherwise, but ok.

I hated you were never really here

I saw The Night Manager recently and I found it pretty disappointing. Maybe I had too many expectations, but even with a solid production it was poorly directed. Just mediocre. Plus, I don't see ANY Bond material in Hiddlestone. Even if I don't like him as an actor, I would prefer Cavill if I had to choose between the two.

I liked it a lot. Nevertheless even if I hadn't, one bad film does not a bad director make.

One thread has recently been closed due to unacceptable chiding, insults, mockery and excessive Flagging. It seems that some of the same issues we were having over there have moved over here. If this continues, official warnings followed by further possible action will be allotted as deemed necessary in order to get these boards back to some semblance of proper decorum.
  • Been a long time since I've posted here, due to all the breakdown of decorum, civility, and general lack of any sort of rationality. There are so many good posters, but they just seem utterly drowned out. It's honestly reflected in our society writ large these days, not just here.

This place should be a refuge from that, where people can enjoy themselves.

I think a lot of it gets attributed to this downtime since 2015 - much of the infighting and hate and bickering dies down once production of a new installment ramps up and there's more and more to discuss. I think most would agree with you, though: this place should serve as a fun escape to come and relax and talk Bond, not a spot for further stress and headaches.

Yes, I quite agree on the delays exacerbating it. But what you mention here was really more of my point. We spend our days having to stress over all sorts of life and work issues. Why bring that here? At the end of the day, it should be fun and de-stressing!

Fair enough. I haven’t seen her other films. But still, I dislike it too much to have an open mind

I do suggest checking out We Need To Talk About Kevin. It's wonderfully shot, the sound design is excellent, it's grim but powerful, and anchored by a superb Tilda Swinton performance.

Nothing in it suggests Bond though, granted.

And I would take Hemsworth over both; along with physical attributes, he has a spark that
Many candidates lack. He would usher in a return of a fun, classic Bond.

The Bond 25 production thread always has been an incredibly fun place. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

That's why it gets flagged endlessly, because people can't handle how much fun they're having and how level-headed and cool the discussion is, I'm sure.

Reasons being too much testosterone & too little news = frustration?
  • The production thread is a fun place as long as a discussion can be more civilized than writing off a director candidate based on what types of glasses they are wearing.

Cary Fukunaga was a name I always thought would be terrific. The action in True Detective was terrific (that one shot!).

Plus he has made some terrific array of diverse films, including a Jane Eyre adaptation and a film about child soldiers.

The guy is a real talent. His new TV series had its premiere in London tonight. Is there any chance, he could have met with Eon today? could he be the guy?

I like Fukanuga a lot. He'd do a great job on the writing front, too.

Well, I can only speak for myself. I have always had tremendous fun reading that thread and commenting in it. It's a shame that thread had to end.

I suggested his name a week ago. He's very talented. But for now my dream director for a Bond movie is named Tom Ford.

Definitely an admirer of Fukunaga's work and yes I'd be more than glad with him as director. The guy can direct!
