All Bond films: Unintentionally funny moments!

Hey all! While the board was down I snooped around the Commander Bond forum and they had a cool idea for a thread there:
Name all the times in any Bond movie where something made you crack up that WASN'T intentional!
Here's one off the top of my head:
Moonraker: In the PTS, right when Bond catches up with the bad guy in freefall, Bond lands with his face firmly in the bad guys butt (I'm sure the stuntmen couldn't help it), but here's the funny part: RIGHT when that happens, the music immediately changes to a low tuba, and I swear that makes me crack up each time I see it!

  • Goldeneye: The sauna scene with Bond fighting Onatopp. It works pretty much as Campbell states it does in the director's commentary - it's sexy, but it's also dangerous, but I'll be damned if I don't laugh my ass off at the section with Xenia trying to crush Bond between her thighs. It sells the effect, but Brosnan's facial expressions are just really, really funny, to me.

This is only makes sense if you watch the 4:3 FULL SCREEN presentation of Licence To Kill..

but towards the end of the film, where a truck is about to plow into a farmer and his truck on the road... in the full screen version of the movie, the farmer's wife is not present on screen - so when the farmer is swerving out of the way, it looks like he let's out this girly shriek - it's not until after, that you see his wife in the truck with him.... but even still to this day - even watching the widescreen version, i still can't help but to laugh every time that scene comes up..

I find it impossible to say which of the doubtlessly many funny moments in Bond films are intentional and which are not.

Thanks I realized what I had done when it was too late- didn't know how to change it :)

I'll just see if I can breathe some life back into this one...

Thunderball: When Connery is on 'the rack' near the beginning, the bad guy hits the switch and Connery yells "HeyWhattheHell" SO fast- and then it shows him going back and forth- looks like he's being brutally raped!

A View to a Kill: Several of Zorin's lines (due to the unique way Walken talks) "Right on SHed-jull!" "Mooahh! Moah POWAhh!" and my favorite: "I'm HAPPIEST. IN the saddle! (hysterical laughter)"

A View to a Kill: When May Day catches Bond with the fishing line and hurls him over the railing, I can't help but laugh as ol' Moore fiddles with the hook and desperately tries to STAND- then finally the pole hits him on the back one last time!

The Living Daylights- When Kara is driving next to the plane trying to get Bond's attention- she's waving and staring lovingly at him, while Bond is mimicking like he's talking to a kindergartner for her to drive into the back of the plane- then he finally loses his temper and mutters what looks like 'For f*** sake.'. Seriously, watch his lips next time! Only Dalton.... :)

Any others you can think of?

I think the ultimate "unintentional comedy moment" was what was supposed to be a "super cool moment" was the para-surf scene in DAD. Same with the "catch the plane" in GE.

That bit in LTK when Bond is talking with DEA Agent Hawkins in the Key West street scene and that fat, balding, weird guy in the pink shirt behind them keeps walking back and forth across the screen just to stay in shot!

It took me several viewings to notice, and it may be more of a gaffe than a moment:

TWINE: Bonds attempt to look calm, but as Brosnan crosses his leg, he ends up kicking the desk in front.

I always smile at the end of YOLT when Bond blows up the rocket and as soon as it happens all the Generals in the Pentagon who seconds before were at 'SITUATION IMMINENT' and ready to kick off World War 3 suddenly start getting up to leave, no need for any assessments or analysis of the situation, just "Hooray their rockets buggered, lets have a half day".

    Got another one:

*On Her Majesty's Secret Service- A case of bad dubbing gets a snicker out of me every time: Irma: 'You speak German?" Bond: 'I'm afraid not.' Irma: "French perhaps?' Bond: "A littleWhereAreWeOffTo!!!"
lol he spat that out in under a second!

*Dr.No- Sean Connery says something to Quarrel and Felix in the scene right before the girl with the camera (Jump-Up, Jump-Up scene) to this day I swear I have no idea what he's saying- watch that scene, near the beginning I think- and you know exactly what I mean. Connery says a whole sentence SO FAST I'm just like 'Wait- WHAT???' He seriously spoke a million miles an hour. What on earth did he say?!?

*All of Brosnan's movies- I doubt this even needs mention on this board, but what the heck: any time Bond does his 'pain face' or generally has a bit of 'bad acting'. (not knocking Brosnan, BTW) Some of my favorites: Jungle scene in GoldenEye- Xenia is crushing Bond and his 'pain face/growl' shifts into 'ANGRY face/growl'
2 from TWINE: 'Pain face' when Bond says 'one last......screw' and I get a lol when Bond recognizes that quote from Renard: 'there's no point in living when you can't feel alive'; Bond very audibly goes 'HUH!!!'
......and of course, how can I leave out 'knew all about my shoooooooolda. Hm? Knew exactly where to huuurrrrrrrrrt me?'
    lol oh Pierce, you're silly.

You know I have never really noticed that guy before so I just watched that scene. What is even more funny is the quick little haircut Bond got between talking to Hawkins in the street and talking to M at The Hemingway House

Dr. No The killing of the tarentula. Every time I saw that movie in a theater, people were laughing because of the way the music accompanied each strike Bond made with his shoe.

The Living Daylights- right after Bond 'assassinates' Pushkin and leaves to the room, the first guard to go outside behind him looks confused for a second and starts firing into the air!

A View to a Kill- Roger Moore had a funny delivery of a line (even for him)- when he introduces himself to stacy:
Bond: 'My name is James St.John Smithe....I'm English!'
Stacy: 'Oh.... I never would have guessed.'
Bond (at his most 'Roger Moore-ish ever) 'Rrrrrrrrrreaallllllyyyy..........?"

This may not count but my mum laughed when she saw a clip of Solitare trying to hit Bond by the plane in LALD ("my only regret is I won't be there to see it") and the fight breaks out.

Well, I'm going to tread on sacred ground.

    FRWL no less.

I may have the dialogue a little wrong, but that isn't so important.

Klebb, in her office repremands Tatiana for answering her back, and Klebb shouts at her 'SILENCE! Do yer not know to whom you are spekking?'

And I'm sorry but now that line sounds just like Peter Sellers as Clouseau, and it makes me chortle every time. :-))

Maybe it's more of a WTF instead of unintentionally funny, but I'll mention it anyway:
Roger Moore grabbing the Sumo's ass in TMWTGG. Seriously- that wasn't even acting- he left hand marks on his cheeks!!!

During the car chase in FYEO, Hector Gonzales' henchmen driving Peugoet 504's are chasing Bond and Melina in the 2CV, at one point the cars are side by side and Roger gives his best 'eyebrow' moment and just smiles at them. It's classic Moore and I always laugh at this. Also one of the henchmen has a porno moustache, complete with 70's locks and sunglasses.

What about Connery as a Japanese fisherman? That's pretty funny as its so unconvincing B-)

In Moonraker- Dr. Goodhead reaches for the lightswitch without looking and Bond's hand grabs hers and you clearly hear him yell "HAH!!!!!!!!!!" to make the audience jump- but then it cuts to Moore's face, looking mellow as ever.

From Russia With Love- When Bond is searching his hotel room for bugs, the 'Bond Theme' is blaring at full blast! Who knew checking for bugs was so exciting!!!

The action music from The Spy Who Loved Me- I know that was just the way music was back then, but it seriously makes a joke out of every action scene in that movie!

You Only Live Twice: "GOODBYE!!! MISTER!!!! BOND!!!!!!!" seriously, is that the worst acting ever???

I always chuckle when Stacey (Tanya Roberts) is in the mine standing by Zorin's map trying desperately to say that complicated line about seismic shifts and San Andreas fault lines, it's not that I don't rate her as a competent actress but surely any decent director would of realised that any lines involving more than three words and especially if any of them happen to be longer than CAT or DOG it would just be completley beyond her capabilities!

Mr Nac- I swear that was the finest Clouseau ever committed to text!!! Once I had that thought in my heard I couldn't stop chuckling..... mad worse by the fact that I've got a straight laced fella from the National Audit Office in my office today.

lol that reminds me of the scene when the girls are about to give him his 'Makeover'- I guess he was about to get his chest waxed and Bond says 'Why don't you just dye the parts that show?"- all the girls giggle and Connery just has this look on his face like "....uh, I was f---ing serious!"

All of the stilted, video cut-scene dialogue from QOS.

"Glasses geek: This particular note from Mitchell's wallet may be of interest.

    Scanning.

We introduced tagged bills into Le Chiffre's money-laundering operation by intercepting illegal payoffs. We traced money through several of his bank accounts around the world.

M: That's pretty thin. At the rate money changes hands, You could probably find a tenner in my wallet with a tag.

Polytechnic dullard: That's true, ma'am. A single bill could be a coincidence, but what about a whole stack? These bills, from the same series as Mitchell's, were just scanned at a bank in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, deposited in the account of a Mr. Slate.

    M: Impress me.

Polytechnic dullard: We have a Mr. Edmund Slate returning to Port-au-Prince from Heathrow this morning. His entry documents have him staying at the Hotel Dessalines. He's in room 325."

    Riveting stuff!

"Oh, surprise !! Hi hi hi hi hi !!"

"What's going on? What the hell you doin' now boy ?? You're not thinkin'..."
    "I sure am, boy !!"
    [slide whistle]
"Weeeeeeeeee waaaaaaahhhh weeeeeeee !! I've never done that before !!"
    "Neither have I, actually..."

At the end of Dr. No- Sean Connery is searching for Honey so he trips a random guy trying to escape- demands answers and when he doesn't get any, he punches him out!
I honestly find that scene to be badass, and I love how Bond just grabbed the nearest guy and punched him out; but at the same time I can't help but picture that guy on the floor crying 'please... I'm just accounts payable.....' or something like that. lol

In FYEO when Bond meets Melina underwater, you can just see 'those eyebrows'
