What a horrific idea! Babs and MGW have my respect for vetoing that!

No kids in a Bond film please. Unless they are thrown off a boat in Thailand.

Strangely enough, due to DirecTV's horrible plot summaries, I thought the story of TWINE was going to be something similar before I first saw it. The description was; "Bond protects the daughter of a late friend," and I thought it meant a young daughter. Terrible synopsis, but I liked the idea of Bond showing a softer side with the girl, while at the same time viciously pursuing/killing those trying to harm her.

Also Bond wasn't Sir Robert King's friend. M was.

    Yep. Those descriptions were awful.

Let me know what you guys think of the updated timeline.

Thanks for compiling all of that information, @jake24. You've really weathered the storm here, haven't you? This is a legendary thread!

As for the directors, I said anyone but Mendes and I'd be happy and I'm true to my word. However, I must admit that I'm only familiar with Villeneuve. Still, I trust some of your opinions about the others, so bring them on.

I really hope that for Daniel's final outing, his gunbarrel sequence will feature him sporting a classic black tuxedo with bowtie, rather than the traditional business suit he usually wears.

I'd like that as well as a Barry style Bond theme to accompany it, a decent Binder style graphic for the GB and for the dot to actually enlarge and open to the first shot of the PTS.

This. Four films in and Craig has yet to have a traditional gunbarrel. Spectre's would be perfect if it wasn't for the fade to black and the artsy text. Why couldn't "The Dead are alive." have been written on a wall in Spanish and have the gunbarrel iris in on it and expand to reveal the rest of the Day of the Dead parade? It would function exactly the same but without disrupting the flow of the gunbarrel. Oh, well. Here's hoping the fifth times the charm.

Also Craig's gunbarrel freezes after he fires. No traditional wavering left and right and eventually sinking. No other way to put it, but Craig's 4 gunbarrels look like s**t.
    Each one.

    This.

Yes SP's was better but still not good enough.

Just. Use. The. One. From. The. Brosnan. Era.

Then add a large dollop of Barry Bond theme from say FRWL and Bob's your uncle.

It's remarkable actually how they conspire to keep royally cocking up something so utterly simple.

Shame they couldn't be so discerning when it came to Bond's brother.

Well by all reports Christophe Waltz is returning, so it is highly unlikely that we will get a traditional stand alone Bond film for 25.

I must say, I am dissapointed. I was extremely pumped for the return of Spectre and Bond's arch nemesis in the build up to last film, but it was handled so poorly, I would now prefer that we could all just forget about it.

The whole "Craig's arc" thing is really bemusing to me. Surely the character of Bond can have no arc as such. To have one is to suggest there is a finite end, and correct me if I am wrong, the view of the fans, critics and probably the major studios, is that the Bond franchise is almost infinite.

Unless we get another reboot, which I personally would despise.

Do the reports by any chance say Judi Dench will return as M? ;)

Judi Dench will be seen as a flashback in B25, in Bond s dreams in B26, as a ghost in B27 and as Ms twin sister in B28. In B29 she plays a different M for an unknown number of films. I don t know how trustworthy these reports are, but I see no reason to doubt them.

My idea of how B25's gunbarrel should look:

I just don't like that cowboy stance. Feels pseudo cool to me.

Well isn't there a reboot technically every time a new actor is cast?

Anyway all this would mean is - new cast top to bottom for once Craig leaves. A reboot doesn't mean they have to do Casino Royale AGAIN, unlike what a few people seem to think. And they just ignore the events of CR-SPECTRE as they happened in the Craig era.

I believe audiences today are more demanding of continuity, for EON to try to go back to the old way after what they've done from CR-SPECTRE would be incredibly disingenuous. After Craig's gone there must be a reboot - and then they can try go back to the old loose continuity method.

This bloke is very East Laaandan. He's most certainly the most urban and working-class Bond director ever. It's about time Bond shook it up.

Also....in other news. James Bond Australia have posted that Yann was spotted at EON HQ on Tuesday.

Also I left a comment on Yann's instagram (shameless plug: my account is @amanofsteel62) asking about Bond and he deleted it. Keep an eye on his page here:

And he'd be the first French director to make a Bond film. ;)

I'm all for making the Bond franchise a little bit less British, before the inevitable Nolan takeover. ;) After all, he will probably make the most British Bond film ever.

Blofeld as Bond's step-brother is a much worse idea, IMO.

I'm all for Yann Demange directing. '71 is a strong, crisply-directed thriller. This man strikes me as the new Guy Ritchie (not so much directing style, but combination of technical ability and being an urbane bloke). Or like if Matthew Vaughn would've directed Casino Royale, right after Layer Cake and before going into comicbook movies.

It seems the promo tour for 'Logan Lucky' is kicking off this week. Channing Tatum will be on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' on Monday, 31st July, 2017.

So perhaps we will see DC doing some press after all.

And Halle Berry will be on 'The Tonight Show' and 'Watch What Happens Live' this week, so maybe a mention of 'Kings' as well.

I don't think so, I think Craig's CR is the only reboot because it takes him back to the beginning of his career and gives him his own arc. Goldeneye wasn't a reboot.

And it could be argued that CR isn't a reboot really ether because there was no chronology preceding it. Just IMO. Every actor has had various missions throughout the characters career, Craig just happened to get the first one.

I thought Brozza was a reboot of sorts. It certainly felt fresh to me.

Regarding Logan Lucky's press: What's unfortunate is that most of the other stars are likely to be questioned by the talking heads on Craig as they promote the film, especially since he was quite noticeable in the trailers. It's likely to be a distraction.

I'm sure we'll all be looking for 2017's version of the now infamous "Oyelowo Smile" to infer Craig's intentions, if an announcement isn't made in the next couple of weeks.

He was interviewed during the Othello run and questioned on Craig's intentions vis-a-vis Bond. He craftily smiled when the reporter presumed Craig had left the role & said something cagey, leading some to infer that it meant Craig was definitely back. There was an interesting discussion about it here some 500 odd pages ago.

Of course it was a reboot. It wasn't a hard reboot like CR, but it absolutely was a reboot.

Soft reboot: OHMSS, LALD, TLD, GE, maybe even DAF
    Hard reboot: CR

Wishing for a.. Bright, colorful, breezy adventure. Exotic locations. Pacing, musical score, and tone similar to Casino Royale.

Definitely my choice too (CR prior to the third act).

    Hoping for the best.
